  1. I live in Glendale and am looking for a range where an average member of the public can shoot at least out to 300 yards. Does such a place exist? It seems there are some complicated User Group steps I'd have to go through in order to use Ben Avery range facilities out to that distance. Any help would be appreciated...

  3. So I bought this entire reloading kit with the hopes of setting up a bench and and getting into hand loads. A friend got me hooked, but the space and other things just haven't made it realistic for me right now. The only things that have been used at all out of this kit was the powder (still mostly full), 50 VLD bullets (50 left), dies, caliper, shell holder, Comparator and OAL gage, and the powder trickler. We used his press etc for everything else until I got mine set up which I never did. We only loaded 50 rounds. So here it goes:

Berger Manual 18.28 Horn. Lock-n-Load OAL Case 6.19 Redding #5 Powder Trickler 21.99 Total w/Ship + Tax $59 Lyman Uni. Case Trimmer Kit 9pilots 97.99 Total w/Ship + Tax $111.29 RCBS Tumbler 85.99 Horn. Caliper 32.49 RCBS Shelholder #3 7.99 RCBS 2Die Set 270win 34.99 RCBS Rock Chk Sprm Mst Kit 289.99 Lee Primer Pocket Cleaner 4.19 Win. Lrg Rif. Grand Total Value (used components factored in) $913.00

Being a new resident of AZ, i'm looking to pay it forward and start some good karma from the get go. I'd like to sell this as a kit and not split it up. Obviously I paid shipping, tax, has-mat on this stuff which I'm going to eat. My loss, your gain.

    $780 takes it home.

  4. Its about time I get myself a real safe, but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a top of the line Liberty. I also don't wan't crap like a Stack-On. I'm new to AZ and currently reside in the Arrowhead Ranch area and was thinking there must be some good deals on safes out there. Looking for a point in the right direction...Thanks folks

  5. In just over a month, I will be settled in with my girlfriend in Glendale AZ. While I am extremely excited for all that AZ has to offer, I still remain hard on the hunt for employment. I've been a lurker on this forum for a while with only a few posts, and I know there are some great members here that are walking troves of great information. My background is in wildlife management and currently hold a position with California Dept. of Fish & Wildlife. While my ultimate goal is to continue that meaningful work and hopefully land something with AZ Game & Fish, I need to find a job period to pay the bills....

If anyone has some helpful tips on who to talk to or projects I may get involved with, It would go beyond words how appreciative I would be. Additionally, If someone knows of ANYONE hiring or looking for a 24 year old college graduate with some unique skills and a hunger to work, please don't hesitate to let me know.

I am so charged up about this move, and excited to interact with all of you here about all I have to learn in the Arizona wilderness.

  6. What's the backpacking/spike camp hunting opportunities like in AZ? In California, finding water isn't an issue like it seems it would be in the arid southern part of the state.

I imagine there are some great places to pack out for some camping as well....

Post some AZ photos! I cant figure out how to upload my own...

  7. have you ever worked in construction?

We do directional drilling here in town and install fiber optic, electric cable etc we can help you out so you wont have to come here empty handed.

PM sent. Coming to AZ empty handed is my biggest concern!

  8. So I'm planning the move my girlfriend and I are about to make to Glendale and priority #1 for me is a job. I'm currently employed here in CA with the state dept. of fish and game as a scientific aid and want to stay within the field of wildlife management and field biology.

That being said, I know that could take some time with Arizonas DGF, Forest Service, or other such agency or organization. I have kept looking for what positons are opening at Cabelas and would love to work there while I get my feet on the ground there. How difficult is it finding work in the Glendale/Phoenix area? How about Cabelas?

I would love any reccomendations you guys might have for places to look for a job along those lines...Thanks.

  9. Welcome to AZ & CWT. Are you looking for work too? Lots of helpful people here.

And PRDTATR, YES I am looking for work. I wont be moving until July but boy would it be a huge weight lifted off my back if I could line something up. Any recommendations?

  10. Well I certainly have felt the reach of the man in the last few years. Since I have lived here all my life, Its all I know. With that said, I am VERY excited to live in a state like AZ where a guy like me isn't the outcast in a granola eating society.

    Welcome to AZ ,

Since you're fond of firearms and hunting, how did you ever get along in CA? This is a great forum and friendly, too.

On one of my other shooting forums, a fellow mentioned he was moving here from CA recently and was skinned alive by the members.

I have a son moving here from CA soon. He was stationed at Camp Bruno, USMC so he had little choice and can't wait to breath some free air again.

PM me, I'll show you the closest hunting and shooting spots to Glendale..

  11. Welcome to the best site hunting site on the web. Duck hunting in az is all about knowing where to hunt. Arizona is a target rich state with lots of critters to hunt. Send me a message and I would gladly help with any questions you have. Ps what part of Cali you from

Well I grew up in South Bay Area, Campbell actually. For the past 5 years I have lived in Sonoma County.

  12. Hey folks,

I'm new to the forum and soon will be moving to Arizona (Glendale to be exact). I was told this would be a great forum to get started with hunting information in AZ. I'm 24 and will be moving from CA. The big game hunting here is alright but needless to say, I am really excited for what AZ has to offer.

I've been a waterfowl hunter since I was a kid but have only gotten into deer hunting in the past two years. I have also been eating tag soup the past two years as these blacktails have proven tough to hunt on our over hunted public land. I've been addicted to say the least. My hope for this forum is to get some helpful info to get me started, and hopefully meet some good people that could turn into hunting partners. I'm moving with my girlfriend who is going to be attending Mid-Western University and I dont know a sole in AZ haha. Having a partner to show me the ropes would be invaluable.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to participating in this awesome forum,

    Kevin
