Not bad for your last choice! I remember how upset you were when you found out you weren’t going to be chasing carp with a rifle tag 😂 Absolute stud of a buck and it was awesome to be there every step of the way! That buck made me question my decision to fill my archery tag and surrender the same tag you had 🤦🏼♂️

My friend Steven drew an archery antelope tag in New Mexico so we spent the whole summer shooting and getting prepared for the fall, his focus on goats and mine on coues. His hunt went very well and he killed a buck opening day at 10:30am, which left me a few weeks to get ready for the early archery deer here in AZ. Opening morning came and I had two forks at 38 yards when I stood up from my glassing spot, but it was only an hour into the hunt and I wanted to keep glassing. Ended up putting one stalk on a bedded buck that morning but he caught my wind once I got within 40, from there it was sitting water. That evening was short on bucks at the water but I was happy to at least have seen a handful of deer, this was also the first time I've sat water for any longer than an hour. Next day I hiked into a new basin and was glassing above a tank that was 500 yards below me. After seeing a few groups of small bucks I found a 3x3 leaving the water hole below me and another heading towards the water. My buddy John and I gathered our stuff and ran down to the tank. We set up our stools between some bushes and sat for 20 min, and in that time had a 2 point and some does come drink. we quickly began building a brush blind and does were coming in while we were doing so. John Decided to go sit a different water for the rest of the day and left. Not long after he'd gone, I look to my far left at 52 yards away were the 3x3 I saw coming down and his buddy. I draw and realize I didn't trim the blind out well enough on this far left side. At full draw I begin to stand and lean out of the brush to get a clear shot. I shot and the buck turned away from the shot and I watched the arrow skip off the dirt behind where his shoulder was, all I could do was laugh. Ending up seeing over 30 deer that day on water but no bucks bigger than what I missed that morning. The next weekend we went to check out a spring we used to hunt around a lot. Had some deer come in but the most excitement came from my first run in with chiggers. Next day we stayed low enough to evade the chiggers and ending up finding a big 3x2 crabclaw coues with a fork muley buck and 6 mule deer does, the stalk was on. I got to some rocks and cut the deer off moving up the drainage. watched as they filed through, coues buck at the back. Ranged a barrel cactus they all walked by at 88, set my sight for 85 and when the buck walked into the gap I was already drawn back and gave him a grunt. Shot felt good and I watched the arrow impact his shoulder (sounded like i shot a wet brick wall) and he did a mule kick before running off. I watched him run for a ways and pulled back to watch him in the glass from the original glassing spot. Went to the last spot we saw him after waiting an hour and tracked blood for over a half mile before we lost it. I saw that my arrow didn't get much penetration, I had pushed the shot just a touch right and hit bone just an inch or two forward from a heart shot. Spent the next day looking for him and watching for birds but found nothing. My hopes were that he recovered and is still out hustling muley does from the muley bucks. Now the final weekend of the early season and I had returned to the hill I started the season on while John was nearby sitting. I glassed 4-3x3s a ways out before the sun had come up, the bucks were determined to not let the sun hit them directly. I watched as they worked down into a canyon as the shade line chased them. One buck was 90+ and other others not much smaller. John wanted to get up and move around so we could maybe see them but I told him to stay sitting while I glassed another hour, hoping to find a bigger buck. Didn't find anything bigger so I circled around to the north, hoping I would have a good perspective of the canyon and possibly catch the bucks feeding on the north slope. I made a rookie mistake and peaked over the hill then quickly set my glasses up, only to find the largest of the bucks 250 yards straight across and hes already got eyes on me. He slowly worked over the hill and I thought he had gone over for good. I continued glassing while John made his way over, and found another one of the 3x3s I had seen earlier. Once john got there, i acted quickly because I liked where the buck was located and felt confident I could make something happen. I dropped into the wash and followed it down until I was able to peek around the corner to see the tree the buck had bedded under. I ranged at 150 yards. I backed up and began crawling up the side hill, hoping to get to some rocks above me. I get to the top of the hill and to my surprise the buck is up and next to him is another 3x3 that appeared from thin air. I realize I had busted a doe and she got the bucks up from their slumber. I look at the two bucks and decide the new buck is bigger. I get to a good shooting position and range him at 88, with no way of getting closer without exposing myself I set my sight and start judging the wind. I sat on my knees and began to calm myself down. After a minute or so I felt focused and relaxed. Shot broke cleanly and arrow went right where I intended it and he was down in seconds and went 20 yards. Right after I shot, that bigger 3x3 that ran over the hill must have come back over and he spooked less than 50 yards from me, I never even bothered looking that direction during the stalk, figured he was gone! Oh well hahaha John got to watch it all go down from a few hundred yards away. He's been my archery mentor so it felt good to show him how much he's taught me. I reminded him that I likely wouldn't be out there sweating my butt off, dodging snakes and dodging lightning strikes just to be chasing coues with a bow if it weren't for him taking me under his wing. He's a beautiful buck and I couldn't have dreamed of a better coues to take with a bow. And to kill him by spot and stalk made it even that much sweeter. Archery coues has been my goal for the past few years and it felt awesome to get it done after all the work that was put in over those years. I was blessed to get him on my 7th day of early season deer hunting and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Yes this was long winded but that's just how I do it on here, thanks for reading This is the buck that busted me then came back over just to do it again My buck Trusty Outdoorsmans pack going on year 7 loaded up with my bucks head and boned meat

I thought predators were the only animals with eyes facing forward....guess this deer is just of a different breed than what I am used to

I looked through 3 pairs side by side (all 12x50), the Razors, UHD Razors, and Swaro EL. UHD razors are definitely a strong improvement from the Razors optically, with a significant size increase and slight weight increase as the only drawbacks. The UHDs surprised me with how close the were to the ELs, then it became obvious that the ELs were brighter without a doubt. But when you compare the price tags, Vortex is almost a grand cheaper than the ELs (depending where you look). I like the way Vortex is going optically, just wish they would've done a 15x but i understand that at those prices, most guys would just go with Swaro, Lieca, or Ziess.

EDIT: i found this link https://www.dailywire.com/news/44916/watch-border-patrol-agents-harassed-arizona-kassy-dillon a handful of the videos are there She was posting them on her Instagram story, meaning they disappear 24 hours after being posted. Not sure if any news outlets got the videos, but I haven't seen them on our local news. She also made all of her social media accounts private after I got to watch the videos. her handle for Instagram is @ denisseisdead..... interesting name choice

The actions of the girl were absolutely ridiculous. During a week that I was up to my eyeballs with schoolwork, blows my mind that she took the time out of her day to harass the BP Agents the way she did. Constantly yelling "murder police" and following the agents out to their vehicle in the Parking garage. She was saying that she was in danger because the agents were on campus for a Job Fair!!! Then she organized a protest the next day with 100 other kids holding signs saying #HERETOSTAY. Watching all the videos she posted made me sick, I felt terrible for the Agents who were just going about their job and trying to recruit others. I applaud them for not lashing out or doing anything towards the girl, not sure if i could've been as strong

I drew a tag in a unit that some of my friends are pretty familiar with and we've been spending time in there regularly. I'm not the pickiest of guys but I had 2 big exams coming up the following week so that left little time for me to hunt once again.... not to mention the hot weather and full moon. Opening day came and I was still in class while Steven was out with his father, Steve. Steve had the same tag as I and he got tagged out early Friday morning. I raced out after my Ochem lecture and was in the unit by 1pm. Steven picked me up and took me into camp, where we hung out until it was time to hunt the evening. Around 3:30 we head out to the evening spot and start glassing. As the evening progressed, more deer started to show. I walked back across the hill after checking the backside and Steven said he found a nice 3x3. I looked at him and let him walk. As Im looking through the BTX, I see two other nice bucks start to come over the hill. I saw that one had good height and some bladed tines before they walked back into the trees. I got Steve's new 28 Nosler ready to go while Steven tried to reacquire the buck. After a few minutes, the bucks all reappear at last light, Steven gives me the range, 480. Once I was able to place the 180 berger correctly, the buck dropped like a sack of potatoes. I'm very happy with him and we were thankful that we didn't have to hunt in the heat of the next day. Big thank you to Steven for hunting with me and Steve for letting me use his brand new Christensen Arms 28 Nosler! Also passed those exams so it all worked out perfectly

I drew my only choice with 10 bp and was eager to get scouting as soon as possible. First Trip wasn't until mid July but my father and I saw lots of bucks and got a taste for what bucks were where etc. My next scouting trip was productive but it had become a reality that the unit experienced one of the driest years its ever had. I never saw a single fawn in all of the time I spent up there, hopefully a few years down the road the number of permits will be reduced to account for the absence of a fawn crop. Leading up to the hunt, I knew my schedule was limited with school and I needed to get a buck on the ground quickly. My goal was to kill an 80" buck and I really spent a lot of time learning how to field judge these animals. Scouting allowed me to practice judging goats and also forced me to stalk numerous animals to get a GOOD look at what's on their head. The hunt came around and I felt I hadn't laid eyes on a giant buck, so the plan was to Look for a buck or two we saw the evening before opener. Opening morning came and before the sun was up, Steven found a buck a few miles off with his BTX. We looked and when the sun hit him, we decided he was worth a closer look. Afraid of spooking the buck, John and I decide to just hoof it rather than try to drive around with the truck to get closer. We end up finding him bedded with a doe he pulled off the herd and took into an isolated valley. John and I crawl up to a spot where we think we can shoot. Skipping the BS-i mistakenly ranged the tree behind him and doped the scope to 600 when in reality it was so flat, he probably closer to 500 or worse. He stood up, gave perfect broadside shot and I was sailing them over his back. He runs off but we keep watch. We start working him again, relocate him and now he's back with his herd of does. Not seconds after we see them, they start running our way and the chaos began. Bucks were running all over the place, the buck we wanted was obviously the alpha and he was running the others bucks off continuously, It was an incredible experience to see them going wild like that. After setting up for shots probably a dozen times, the buck finally chases another buck off to our left which allowed for an open shot through the high brush. He runs after the inferior buck, sticks his horns in the little ones butt then stops, turns around and gives a quartering-to shot at 198yards. We were done by 9am and i couldn't have been happier. He's not the biggest buck i saw scouting but he was one that definitely caught my eye. Ultimately, he caught my eye on opening day and its history from there! I can't thank my Father, Reyes, John, Steven and Gavin enough for coming on the hunt, It was the best crew i could've imagined! We took photos then hung him in a tree, and pitched a nice midday camp to make lunch. Doesn't get any better... I learned alot on this hunt and I can only hope to get to hunt antelope again sometime soon I will post photos of the bucks I saw in scouting below the trophy pics but here is my 2018 Arizona Pronghorn Antelope The crew- My dad, I, Gavin, John, Reyes and Steven "Tipsy"-nice buck I passed at first light on opening morning "Double D"- only saw him once and got some decent photos in the heat waves This buck looks awesome in this photo and I imagine he grew another inch or two but he broke off his whole left prong... A massive buck i would've liked to see again Nice buck Reyes and I snuck up to While he was Snoozing with his ladies My Buck on July 18th. He pushed out another 1.5-2" of horn after this photo was taken and he also lost his giant mane Then this is the buck I Liked most from scouting Misc Bucks

So, does "John Q Public" get thousands of additional acres to hunt elk? If those are "extra" tags that wouldn't have been included otherwise, then I'm good with it. Yes "John Q Public" does actually get thousands of additional acres to hunt elk because of the Hopi allotment. It is some of my favorite elk country to hunt

Few and far between. Saw some mallards yesterday, shot a black duck, green wing, and pintail recently. Should pick up soon -
This year I haven't been able to get out and hunt as much as i have in previous years so I've made a point out of going whenever an opportunity arises. The most recent opportunity came on Christmas eve, Steven and I planned to go glass for muleys, coues, and pigs. We got out there and hiked to a peak, but we didn't see any bucks that were real intriguing. At about 10:30am, I glanced down to the wash 400 yards below me and saw something walking in the bottom. I threw my binos up and immediately could tell this was a BIG bobcat with a really white belly. I watched him for a minute as he disappeared into a mesquite thicket. Once he got in there and didn't come out after a few minutes, i figured he had laid down. First thing i did was get Steven set up on the trees with his binos and told him to not take his eyes off that thicket (almost as if it was a 120 inch coues hahahaha) . I gathered all my crap and took off down the mountain. I got to the truck and grabbed the rifle, caller, and shooting sticks. I started working over to that thicket, and ended up 55 yards across the canyon from it. I put the call behind me and started playing some sounds. `After 15 minutes or so, the cat still hadn't shown himself. Steven texted and said that the cat was still there and was just watching me. I pulled out my binos to scan the thicket. Through the trees and grass, i was able to make out the cats face and a small part of his neck. One quick shot with my 223 and he was down. Everyone that I've hunted with knows that I've been trying to get a bobcat for the longest time and they've simply eluded me. For my first bobcat to be one like this, is a gift in itself. He was a big beautiful tom and i have no doubt that he was at the top of the food chain in that area. I've grown a profound respect for these cats and will never look at them the same. He weighed 22lbs A big thanks to Steven for sacrificing his Xmas Eve morning to glass and sharing another experience with me that I'll never forget!

Thanks men! It’s still a shock that it worked out I’m trying to pay off my mule deer mount! I will be getting the pelt professionally tanned so I can have it mounted later down the road! He’s going to look so good when he’s lifesized

On Sunday, I texted my buddy Steven and asked him if he wanted to go do some scouting for my upcoming coues deer hunt. He was free in the morning so we planned to get some glassing in. He texted me the night before and says "are you going to bring your bow?" i said "no, we're only going for the morning and plus i have my muzzleloader hunt soon". (FYI Steven tagged out in January). The next morning comes, we head out to a spot Steven wanted to check out. Not long into glassing, Steven finds a nice muley buck. We got some quick video before he went out of sight. The morning goes on and we find the buck later, and we watched him the rest of the morning because we hadn't found anything more intriguing than he. Steven kept rubbing it in my face that I didn't bring my bow and I admit that I did make a mistake by leaving it. We planned to come back the next day, after my morning classes. This time I'm definitely bringing my bow. We get out there and end up glassing him up again. He was in the same canyon as the day before! we watched him from roughly 1200 yards for 15 minutes or so until he bedded down. I quickily gathered my stuff and started cutting the distance. I got down to a hill opposing him and set up my glasses. I was able to reacquire him in the thicket. I picked out some landmarks and started down into the canyon. The wind could not have been better, perfectly in my face. I crawled to the top of the next hill, picked out my next landmark, and located the tree he was under. The tree was at 60 yards, I could see that i'd be able to get a little closer, while still having a bush block the buck's sight of me. He was quartering hard towards me and facing left. I sat there for a few minutes hoping he would stand up to adjust his bed, but knowing that he mostly likely wasn't going to move an inch. I decided to give it a try before the wind switched on me. I ranged it one more time, 48 yards. Drew back and stood unnoticed, let it fly and watched the fletching disappear between his neck and shoulder! He took a death run and crashed 40 yards from his bed! I cannot thank Steven enough for all his help, without him, i surely wouldn't have been successful. I will be donating my Muzzleloader coues tag to OE4A, and hopefully they will put it to good use!
