I use a quad to get around sometimes, but in my opinion they are not much more useful than a jeep or a shortbed pickup. Especially for the cost. I can dang near get my jeep anywhere I can get my quad. Yeah, it is quite a pain in the tail to haul a bail of hay and pellets but it pays off in the end when you're coming home with the big set of horns. My favorite spots cannot be reached by anything with a motor unless it is a helicopter. No way you could drop off these deep, dark canyons on a quad. Hey muleybull, let's play follow the leader. LOL Regards

No problem here I have a quad too. Just prefer to use the mules to get to the real back country. Hunt all day and see nobody else and don't hear any motors. Yeah! Mulehumper was pretty good huh!! If I have to pay a lot of fees to keep using it I'll just get rid of it.

The horses do not tear up the land like those OHV's do. Deer hunting this year I saw about 150 of those things on the roads. But none on the goat path. Those OHV's leave quite a mark on mother nature.

    2007 tag fees

First of all it takes a 7 year degree to get into arizona game and fish so yea I think they are quality people, maybe not brought up like you and me, but pretty sharp. Plus the additional 2 years of law training on the job.As for the increase your governor gave them now or up to 7 years for 100% increase, meaning take it all now , or watch it slowly increase over the next 7 years. As far as taking your whole family out for BIG GAME HUNTING well you got to pay to play. Whatever happened to family smallgame hunting ? Some of my best times growing up. I learned more about shooting and the outdoors smallgame hunting then anywhere else, and alot cheaper. The best hunting I ever did was huntin Lizard with a stick. Man how I miss those days. Well said Mr. goo, well said. I look forward to quail hunting with my bb gun as much as anything else. It's time spent with family, friends and the great outdoors that matters most. Tag or not.

    2007 tag fees

Nothing p*sses me off more than that attitude. You must be a fair weather hunter!!!! I remember when I used to buy a candy bar for 50 cents. Do we bad mouth Hersheys?? No. The cost of things goes up.... everything. I am not saying I want the less fortunate families to stay home. But geez 35 dollars for a deer tag isn't that much. You say writing tickets would weed out the warriors but do you know exactly how many rangers there are per unit? I do. Unit 29 there about 1000 hunters and 1 ranger for about 100 miles in either direction. Where do you start??

    2007 tag fees

What do you think a fair price for an archery cow permit is??? Free!! What do you think the cost is to keep the rangers in the field and keep up with the cost of everything these days?? I think they are due to increase. They haven't increased very much in quite a long time so I have no argument about increases. Keeps the fair weather hunters at home.

    Bad Sport

Dang!! Where do you guys hunt that there are so many people around?? City limits?? I have been hunting all my life and very rarely see another person other than the people I am with. Get out and stretch the ol' legs and get away from everyone.

    drop away rests

Mathews makes a drop away rest for their bows. It has those harmonic dampers on it and seems to shoot pretty good. It mounts differently than others so it is like a mini overdraw. I like it because you can shoot shorter, heavier arrows. Switchback has one on his Switchback.

    drop away rests

I shoot the rip cord out of a mathews switchback and my arrows fly perfectly. I heard from a number of bow shops that the rip cord is the only rest that actually gets out of the way of the arrow quick enough for todays faster bows. What kind of bow do you shoot??

    .270 or .270 wsm

I am a fan of the .270 cal. What's the difference between the .270 and the .270 mag. Do the magnums have more recoil that the regular .270? I like something I can carry all day long or whip out of the saddle and shoot 50 yards or 500 yards.

    Crown King trail

With total respect. What's the deal with the Suzuki Samurai's?? What's so special about them? Why not a Jeep?
  20. I caught my first fish out of Rucker Lake. I used to love to hunt whitetail and fish out there. Now just whitetail. I bet it wouldn't take that much to get that lake back up. Would it??

    Weekend out (pics)

Lot of elk in 27 but I think the GF overkilled the cows. My brother has been hunting up there with a buddy of his for a week or so and says there are plenty of hot big bulls without cows. I think we could take it easy on the cows in this unit. Same as last year. I had Unit 27 archery bull last year and some of the satellite bulls I saw were 330-340" bulls. Not enough cows. Dang cow hunters.

    Backpack hunting.

Is that an Oneida Screaming Eagle?? That's funny stuff right there. I shot my first archery elk with and Oneida. Shoot 25 times then replace the string.

    Lecia or Swarovski

I have the 12 x 50 Ultravids and love them. I would be more worried about the power in this case rather than the make. They both make great glass but Leica are quite a bit more $$$. If it was up to me. Leica. I wear them around my neck fine.

    Your First Rifle?

I am a huge fan of the .308. Have seen it knock down many bull elk and bucks at long distances.
