I think they are both great scopes for the money. don't think you can really make a wrong choice.
-
id say go back to the shop and play with them both, have them get that rifle stock with the rubber grippers and see what you think. the right tool for the job and all that. and something you are comfortable with.
-
I have used both, there both great scopes for the money and you can't go wrong with either. how thick of cover will you be in and how far will you shoot. for shorter distances the 4-12 is hard to beat. and by shorter I mean 30-400 yards, if you have longer shots and are confident then the extra power of the 24 is realy nice.

That's a good deal I spend 60 in gas for one day alone. good luck with it. -
Hah take a look at the top shooting teams. Then think of any scope that has never needed work after a few hunts. Now take a bad tumble and send them in. Of coarse vortex warintes are used the most, they actualy cover every thing but theft . See who will get you back in the field on their dime and who will tell you to in my case buy a new one. every one has an opinion and some are fans and cant change. Figure out what you like, just factor it all in.

When you end up with a busted paperweight.

what are you trying to do that you can't do with the combo you have? The only scopes I buy now are Vortex, I have wasted to much money on Leopold, Swarovski, Burris.

.270 , 30-06, .308, .243 all those are pretty common and available. .308, 30-06, 270 all have tons of choices. from the factory. Personally I like the .308 for normal ranges. -
wise guy as well, I have 2, so I have a backup just in case. I liked the way they felt and the were long enough for my finger to feel comfortable.

Anyone willing to help me instal my new barrel on my AR10????
QhunterAZ replied to Big Browns's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
you need the upper lapped for your AR10? is it a barrel blank and not a complete barrel? -
Great bass. I fish the canal behind work alot. Grab some biscuit dough some circle hooks and a small bobber, aboit 16-26 inc of leader and cast it to far side of canal. Then follow it down stream as it goes and be ready. We catch 12- 26 lb carp and amur, 2-6lb catfish. Its alot of fun. Use to flyfish it for bass and panfish. Most people never think to fish the canal but for catch and release its a blast.

Are you going to use it for range calculations, hold overs and such? if so I think it is easier than moa.

Would you re-barrel a DPMS 260 AR
QhunterAZ replied to Big Browns's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
you can always use some foam mousepads and duct tape to make a cheekrest to be sure that's not the problem as well. just be sure to clear the charging handle so you don't end up cutting it off just to get it into battery. -

What stock are you using? are you getting consistent and solid cheek wield? even an 1/8 of in inch cheek wild can throw a shot all over the place at range. My pof 308 was 2 inches at 100 yards till I put on a better stock with adjustable cheek wield. then it tightened up to .5 - 1" with most ammo. -
could have been Game and fish or forest service as well. most of them have that 24 hour mentality and if its easy to see they snap them right off the trees.
-
I go with vortex, the day you take a bad tumble and they hit the ground will be a lot less painful.

Really then we should be undocumented hunters and fishers right? will the AG come running in to save us? -
I've used it for all kinds of superglues gel included. Havent used it on the archery specific glues though.
-
one more trick is I like to use the tip of a mechanical pencil for glue placement. just stick it over the spout tightly and squeeze a really small line out. you don't need much glue at all.
-
might as well just make them out of plastic.
-
depends on the shooter and the situation. that 100 yard arrow is still 100fps faster and delivering more power than my longbow at 20 yards.

Bowfit Upper-Body Exerciser - Anybody have one?
QhunterAZ replied to naturegirl's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Be sure not to miss or you will have an errant arrow through several walls and what ever may be between. And if that happens at an outside wall I suggest spray foam.... Guess how I know about that. The syreach trainers you can use at work to. -
FFP and learn how to use your scope to range. it takes practice, but is really simple formula. sure it can take 30 seconds to a minute to run the numbers. but when you are shooting over 1000 you should have enough time to figure it out. not like your popping off at a running rabbit. just remember big scopes weigh more. but when you want to reach out a stiff barrel and good glass is a must. Vortex razor gen2 ffp mrad 4.5-27x56. Some good quick release rings and you have one scope that can bounce guns. I use it on my 338 lapua, my 300win my ar10 .308. could even use it on my .06 or 270.

Javis have been spreading like rats across the state. G&F love that 7.50 fee. and seem to want them to keep spreading. they are an invasive species.
