I've come off the ranch twice during the hunt. Both times in Seligman Ive seen a bull in a truck bed. First was a little guy Saturday night and tonight I saw a mature bull skull in a pickup bed. I heard two consecutive shots very close together today, had to be two shooters it was too close together to be a follow up shot. Might've been your buddies. Personally I've seen three bulls so far, a dink 3x3 yesterday and then another small bull today (might've been the same one) with a herd of cows and a real nice 6x6 who was covered by cows so I couldn't get a shot before a cow busted us and they bolted. Hopefully he makes a return appearance tomorrow!

I'm interested. Where are you located? Does it have a title and would you do a partial trade?

I'm starting to get this anxious nervous excitement. It's a type of feeling I haven't had since just before my first son was born. I drew my first tag in Unit 10 and with almost a week til my hunt I'm getting more and more anxiety each day. The few times I was able to get out I didn't see much of anything. I have a friend coming up from New Mexico to help me. He knows elk but he doesn't know the area. I got us both permits for the Boquillas ranch. He will be with me for he first weekend but has to head home Monday so after that ill be flying solo. I'm open to any advise that anyone is willing to share.

Good stuff Dave, ill be in a Black Ram 1500. I'm working through Monday and heading back to the ranch that evening. Ill be coming back to Phoenix Thursday to have early thanksgiving dinner. It's my grandmothers 90th birthday and I talked the family into doing thanksgiving at my place so I wouldn't have to go to New Mexico and drive to AZ Thursday night. Ill head back put after dinner. I you or anyone else on the forum forgets anything in town or needs anything shoot me a PM. I should also have a healthy supply of turkey day leftovers is be happy to share.

Great I guess I hadn't really thought about how crowded it will be, or the possibility if being shot at... How crowded is the Bo Ranch on the late hunt?

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I just don't want to blow it and add this tag to my unfilled otc archery deer tags from the last two years.

Kabar Knife SOG Dagger Cold Steel Shovel & $40 .22 Revolver
Deserttrecker posted a topic in Classified Ads
SOG Fixation Dagger, Cold Steel Spetznaz Shovel, & Kabar fighting knife. $60 for all 3 I never used the dagger or shovel, the Kabar blade is very worn. .22 revolver, I'm pretty sure it's a Terminus. It's made in Germany. No BS I was shooting it one day and the barrel came off. This was my hiking/ camping beater and was actually pretty accurate til thr barrel came off. Don't know if it can be fixed or just used for parts $40 I'm in North Phoenix. Might trade for ammo in 30-06, 45, 9mm, or 308 -
Late Rifle Bull Hunters...Almost Time. Check in!
Deserttrecker replied to daverp's topic in Elk Hunting
Nice post man. I drew my first big game tag (other than OTC archery deer). Late bull in 10 as well. I'm a restaurant manager and usually work 60 hours or more a week plus having a one year old and 3 year old at home I haven't had much time to make it out scouting other than a couple trips to the Williams corner. I wasn't satisfied with what I saw there so I bought a permit for Big Bo and will be heading there to check it out on Tuesday and once again a couple days before thanksgiving. I know scouting is crucial but this is the best my schedule can allow. My best friend from New Mexico is going to come out for the first weekend. He is experienced and hopefully I can get lucky enough to get something while he is there with me. Otherwise ill be on my own! This is my last chance to get my first big game animal before I turn 30 in January. I really want to make it happen. I'm not holding out for a trophy but I won't shoot a spike or raghorn either. Good luck to all the arrow fingers out there right now and to all of us lucky enough to get drawn! -
I'm not sure if something like this can work in this day and age with all the dishonesty and shadiness out there. But in trying to gear up for my late rifle bull hunt I'm finding it pretty expensive to get the things I want to have for the hunt. So I was wondering since the community here is pretty tight, and I have even seen people offer to loan things to complete strangers, maybe we could start a gear loan/exchange. There could be a deposit and agreement to replace the item if lost or damaged between the two parties. I'm just thinking that since gear is so pricey and you only need it for a small part if the year. So I'll start it off, I have a pair of 8x Steiner binos, a cheapo Simmons spotter, a remington 30-06 pump rifle, and a bow pack I can put up for loan I'm looking to barrow some shooting sticks
