    Dangit!!!

I just found some info on the nmgfd website describing the process of how you can delete you application and lose only the application fee ($13). I didnt say when the deadline was, I assume it has to be before the actaul draw. I tried calling the hot line for clarification but seeing as today is the app deadline, all lines were busy.

    Dangit!!!

Redman- I did not know that you could withdrawal your nm application or return the tag. Im not doubting you, but I couldn't find any info in the nm regs. When is the cancelation deadline? Do you only lose the application fee?
  5. Part of the Buenos Aires Refuge extends into that area, but only for the first mile or so west of 286. The rest is state trust and a small amount of private land. The BA is open to all hunting EXCEPT quail hunting (to preserve the non existant masked bobwhite quail). Try just south of Brown Canyon Road, I know there are at least two mountain lions running around down there. I found a fresh lion kill this winter in the area. I went back to put a camera on it and the coyotes had already beat me to it! The BA sometimes has some quirky seasons so I would double check the AZGF website for season details or there is a BA information station on the east side of 286 at MP 22.5 that has the hunting regulations posted.

I have a 4yo Brittany and he loves sheds! I usually only let him chew on it for an hour or so at a time so he doesnt eat it all in one sitting.

    Border Units

I have hunted 36a/b/c and 34a for javelina, deer, and quail. Border issues are not as bad as they used to be. PM me with any questions you have.

    Expired

There is also no reasonable expectation of privacy while operating a motor vehicle on a public road. I remember seeing these used back east by different cities parking authoritys to scan for cars with outstanding parking tickets. The LPR would hit, they would verify the plate and put a boot on your car. There is also no probable cause to search everyone's records. Law enforcement doesnt need probable cause to run any records checks (vehicle registration, criminal history, etc.) Probable cause is generally only required for the seizure of property or people (arrest). The only requirement is an official "need to know" based on the performance of a law enforcement duty. What this means is they cannot use law enforcement data bases to run records on their daughters new boyfriend or mother in law, because there is no nexus to a law enforcement duty. Personally I dont mind them for more significant endeavors. I know for a fact that LPR's have led to the arrests of fugitives, resolved "Amber Alerts" and aided in the recovery of stolen vehicle. Any tool utilized by understaffed, overburdoned law enforcement agency's to put bad guys in jail is OK with me. Now, using them to assist in the collection of parking fines and to generate revenue is a different story..........

    Whats up with Unit 9?

Anyone have any ideas or guesses why the muzzleloader hunt is before the archery hunt in unit 9? It seems to be the only unit structured this way.

    Parker Canyon Lake

Are there camping areas at Parker Canyon Lake also? I was thinking of taking my son on a camping/fishing weekend getaway. Was thinking of Patagonia but have heard it might as well be Tiajuana there on the weekends.......

    Sportsmans Expo?

There is the sportsmans expo in Phoenix this weekend. Has anyone gone to these before? I was thinking of driving up from Tucson with my son but was wondering if it is worth it. Thanks!

    Sportsmans Expo?

I took my son an we went up there yesterday. It was my first time going and it was ok. Lots of outfitters and boats. I would like to have seen more new outdoor products. My son had a blast climbing on all the atv's and boats (according to him we NEED to buy a $25k bass boat!). I did have a nice conversation with Jordan Brashiers from Eastmans for a while at their deer tour setup. My bigest disappointment was not knowing I could bring my bow to shoot the 3d setup. I thought it was some sort of a tournament until I saw all these guys walking around with their bows! Not sure if I would go again (from Tucson) just for the expo. But combine it with a trip to Cabelas and a day with the boy and it was worth it.

    Sportsmans Expo?

Thanks. I was just looking at the website and it looks like they have some good vendors and displays. Looks like even some things for the kids. Best part is it will give me an excuse to go to Cabelas across the street!

    What's BP really after| Speculation

BP does NOT have any C130's, Apaches, Cobras, or any other type of assault aircraft. You may see an occasional UH60 or other type of observation helocopter that is BP. South of Tucson, it is very common to see C130s, F16s, A10s, and UH60s from Davis Monthan performing manuevers.

    Is this legal?!?

Thats a pretty nice December 31st buck, lol! Seriously, I consider any buck taken with a bow a trophy.

    Have you ever messed up?

On December 30, my last day to attempt to fill my 2014 archery deer tag, I had a decent 3x3 come in to a tank I was sitting. He came into about 25 yards or so and if I had let him get to the water, he would have been relaxed at 20 yards, quartered away and he wouldn't have seen me draw. Instead, my brilliant hunting mind decided it would be better to draw as he walked behind a bush so I would already be at full draw when he got to the water. As he went behind the bush, I tried to draw but couldn't! The hours of sitting in 25 degree weather had tightened my muscles to the point it took me two attempts to get drawn. As he came out from behind the bush he saw me messing around with my bow and stopped, staring right at me, with only a little bit of his front showing. Fearing he was about to bolt, I set my pin and let it fly. I rushed the shot and stuck it right in his shoulder blade. My arrow only penetrated a few inches and I watched him run off with the vast majority of my arrow flopping as he ran. If only I would have let him get to the water.......

    First Archery Javelina!

After not being able to get out for javelina all month, I finally made it out this morning. I got set up and started glassing just after first light. Within 10 minutes I spotted a nice 4x4 mule deer cruising around looking for does. Unfortunately, I was high above him on a ridge and had no real way to get ahead of him. I watched him for a while dreaming of how he would look on my wall unitl he went over a ridge and out of sight. By now the sun was beginning to wash over the southeastern sides of the hills so I began glassing those areas. Luckily I only had to look for a few minutes befoe spotting a herd of javelina. They were feeding and I was able to stalk to 21 yards before the Ulmer Edge found its mark. It felt great to finally take a javelina with my bow.
