Thanks guys. Love this topic! Not even going to try to pull the wool over anyone's eyes, this is an Eastern whitetail, but i think it qualifies as a freak. I actually bought this shed however. I'm a mass fanatic and thought to myself, when am i ever going to be able to FIND an Eastern shed anyways? Especially one like this. Pics don't do it justice though, it's just a pig. Weighs well over 3 lbs.

Great topic! I too love odd horns or character and you guys have some great stuff. Here's my best. Pretty sure it's a carp but it's still a very cool shed.

Really nice looking buck. Is that a broken drop tine on his left? Do you have any other pictures of him. Tell the "old man" congrats on a great buck. And 411 yards is no gimme either. -

Great buck, and an even better shot! 70 yards and it looks like you hit him perfect! Congrats and thanks for the story. -
Darn right! I live in Las Vegas, but i say a bunch of us just go down there and take the dang horns back. I'm in. What that guy did is friggin' disgusting. He basically stole those horns. Keep us posted on this one.

Warthog, you absolutely hit the nail right on the head.

looling for a coyote rifle

I'm a huge fan of the 22-250. I have one in the Remington Varmint model (essentially a small bore Sendero) and it's a laser. I shot a 20 shot group with it once just for fun and i can cover the entire group with a quarter, and that was with a gusting headwind. Also have had some amazing groups out to 400 yards as well. But i really think you can't go wrong with any of the calibers mentioned. All are very adequate for what you are looking for. The 22-250 ammo is more expensive as some others have said, but still my personal choice. I like the added range. -
Unbelievable deer. That mass just makes him all that much more impressive. Congrats to the hunter on the deer of several lifetimes!!!

Snapped some pics of this buck the other day. At first all i had was the head on view and i could tell he had some height but was narrow, spindly, and had very short brows. But them he turned... and i about fell over. It's very hard to tell in the pictures because they curve so much, but his 3's are probably around 9 inches. Easy. I put him in the mid 80's, but he looked like a young deer. Hope he gets some mass and main beams to him! And sorry the pics aren't great, I pretty much suck at the digiscoping thing.

My Buddy's Buck San Carlos Buck!
Coues Sniper replied to matthewp45's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Yeah, if you could post some closer shots of that buck and maybe a score (not that it matters, he's a shooter anywhere!) that would be great. Congrats on a super buck!!! -
Patrick, I don't think anyone meant anything negative in regards to the comments that were made. Most of the people in this forum are good guys (and gals) and mean well. But it isn't everyday you see such a young hunter harvest such a great trophy! And as with any big deer, rumors always fly. I am sure that the young man did work hard and deserve that deer, not many Coues bucks come easy. Congratulations to you and your son on a great, great deer and also welcome to the forum. I'm sure the people who made any comments feel the same way. I'd love to see some more angles of that buck as well! thanks, kevin

Oh wow, what a cool buck! Just like i like them: narrow, massive, and lots of character. Tell your brother congrats on an awesome buck. Sure would like to see a side view of him too!!! Neat, neat deer.
-
That is a great buck no matter how many you have killed. Congratulations and thanks for the story too!

Well it kinda depends. If I'm by myself, I'd probably set up where I'm at and try to wait him out. I'm confident enough in my rifle to make that shot if i could get into a prone position. If i had a guy to watch him, and i thought he'd stay put for awhile, I'd try to get a little closer and have my buddy talk me in on a radio. I'm confident, but not stupid.

Long time reader, but had never posted till now. This i just had to share. I guess this was just a matter of time, i just never thought it would be so soon. Check this out: http://www.couesdeersanctuary.com/ I guess it's a farm where they raise monster bucks and then let them loose in a 6500 acre area so they can be "hunted" Bring your checkbook - 25 Large for a buck scoring 130-144! They also claim to have the typical and nontypical worlds records alive and ready to be "hunted" for "market price". Gotta be kidding me.

Pics of a true rifleman..

That's amazing. Holy crap is right, geez. Glad nobody was hurt, thanks for sharing!!! -
Phenominal buck, what great character! Congrats. I'm glad all your hard work payed off for you!

Well, there's a difference between banning it and supporting/doing it. Should it be banned? Course not. How would you police it? I mean what if it's a 200,000 acre enclosure? Surely that could still be considered fair chase (assuming it wasn't rasised in a pen, which some of the pictures on that website clearly suggest.) So how big is fair? Should it be different sizes for different species? So on, so forth. All wanted to say is how ridiculous it is to "hunt" an animal raised as a pet and then brag about it. It's the exact oppisite of Coues hunting in my opinion. Exact oppisite. As far as people buying bid tags and hiring an army of people to find them a big buck, i don't look down on that at all. It's still a wild deer. Honestly, i bet most anyone here would jump at the chance to shoot a monster buck if someone told them they knew where one was. I mean if one of your buddies is like "hey i know where a 130" nontypical hangs out in your unit, i can show him to you, no problem", what are you going to say? No thanks, i didn't scout that deer myself so i'm not interested? Crazy talk. Just my 2 cents And I'm glad this site officially doesn't support high fence hunting!
-
Well i'm not trying to step on any toes, but i would hope that this site would not support high fence Coues hunting in any way. Younghunter, your signature hits it right on the head, Coues are a tough little deer to hunt and i think that's why most of us here love them so much. They are so elusive and tough to hunt. But when a website has pictures of deer you can shoot with chainlink fence all around them, and says be prepared to shoot "up to 200 yards", come on. That's just ridiculous. You might as well hunt in a zoo, or shoot the neighbors horse. I think this gives hunting a bad name.
