    Snake Boots

So, just wondering, I'm a snake boot person. Who else wears snake boots in early seasons? I even wear them in the winter, helps against cactus. Currently using the new cabelas. They are comfortable. What is your favorite brand?

    Good vantage point?

You never know where the big one is going to be. With the rut getting close, I would with the highest doe population spot or where you saw the most sign! Good luck!

Texas Hog Hunt - Who Wants to Go?

Mine was low fenced too. Texas is over run with hogs! The high fenced places charge more, too. There are plenty of low fenced areas with great hog populations. Look south of San Antonio.

    Snake Boots

I haven't had mine struck at yet, either. But, had a few close calls over the years, especially on bear and quail hunts. Good insurance policy for the one I don't see!

Texas Hog Hunt - Who Wants to Go?

Texas does not have a lot of public land. Your best bet will be a ranch. They move mostly at night. Night hunting is allowed in Texas for hogs. Ask the rancher about type of equipment you may need such as a light with red lenses etc. I took this one about 30 min before dark. Good luck!

    Hello

Hello all, relatively new to this site. Lived and worked in Arizona for many years. Moved away ( wife wanted to go back home-ex-wife now). So, I am moving back, hope to have a home purchased by March in Oracle, Az. I have lost contact with most friends over the years. So, if there is anyone that could use a hunting partner message me. My resume long range rifle shooter and bowhunter. Worked on the side for an outfitter for about 5 years and I have top equipment. Take my hunting serious. Shoot me a message. Happy holidays all! Tried to put a few pics up!

    From Spike....to Death

My dad worked for Texas A&M university in research and new a few of the deer biologist. They told him the same. Most bucks in the wild only make it to about 6 to 7 yrs of age due to hunting, natural predators and not as good of quality of food and of course no veterinarians. And, they said the same the biggest improvement in a set of horns is from year 3 to 4. I don't know the reason. They also stressed deer and found on hard years racks can reduce in size. I guess food to survival then extra to horns, fat etc.

    Hello

Hey, I had a career in the Army and then law enforcement. I had to stay in shape. Don't be picking on me!

    Got some bear questions

My experience is they still sleep. Never heard of any bowhunters seeing any in January. I don't think it is snow. Just temps in the high country. Plus, this cycle is when cubs are born. My opinion anyway!

    Got some bear questions

Replying to this late. But, I agree with another poster, it is all about food. I hunt bears a lot and use to guide for a local outfitter. I took a nice old one this year. Saw about 5 in 3 days. A 300 RUM with a quality scope and 180 gr sirrocco will be your best friend. I usually hunt alone. PM about next year if you want!

    Is this someone baiting? (Pictures)

That's why I avoid all units south of Tucson. One used to be my favorite. Just to dangerous. I'm former Army Special Forces and not scared. But, I have a family. The government needs to something about all this stuff, drugs and border. Just saying!

    Is this someone baiting? (Pictures)

I'd avoid the area! Take lots of ammo and running shoes when you retrieve your camera. They get serious about protecting their areas!
