It is acts like this that give us all a bad name.... I am betting there are hunters out there that know the person involved because in these times it is all about bragging ... I hope they catch this wasteful SOB. http://azgfd.net/artman/publish/NewsMedia/Reward-offered-for-information-on-mule-deer-killed-in-Mesa-near-lower-Salt-River.shtml As hunters we need to call out those individuals we see, including friends and relatives, that do stupid things that hurt the future of Hunting....

It was in a open archery unit, the issue is not the kill ...The issue is the wasting of game... It is illegal to cut off the head and leave the rest of the deer to rot without taking the meat.

Gambel's are monogamous ... The chicks almost immediately leave the nest to stay with the parents ... They have 10 - 12 eggs that hatch in about 20 days and gambles can have multiple hatches ... It is easy to see as the varied aged chicks will run with the parents and you can tell by the varied sizes/ ages of each hatch with the parent .. this last year we seen pairs running with as many as 30 + chicks and 3 - 4 different ages.

Pretty sure it is still illegal to remove any Indian made artifact found on state or federal land ... everything like arrowheads, pottery , beads , ect... is suppose to be left . please let me know if I am wrong .
-
Did you not see 3 - 4 hatches this last spring .... Down on the foothills of the Supers we seen a lot of paired up birds with 3- 4 hatches running with them ...

heck I would be out right now if I was a bow hunter and not working ... In the past when helping family on their archery hunts we seen a lot of activity in storms like this... Temps actually warmed over 10 degrees in a lot of areas, winds have slowed down from what they were last week and the rain has had long breaks or long periods of light mist ... Should be some happy deer out there

the initial forecast was for the wettest winter since 2005 and maybe in the last 50 years ( surpassing the 97-98 El nino ) ... the totals so far are above average around most of the state.... should be another great year for the animals and hopefully we can see the lakes fill up ... Roosevelt is already taking in more water from both Salt and Tonto then it has in a long time...

Happening in Oregon but Issue is Alive and Well Here in S. AZ
Str8Shot replied to Jawa512's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Sparky There are tons of roads FS, BLM, State Trust , even county roads all over this country that never had proper easements and never were given one when land was sold or transferred to private individuals and/or corporations ... These are roads that were cut and maintained to some degree with tax payer dollars at some level whether it be county , state or federal ... You can not fault the land purchaser for those oversights but the public should not lose access because of an oversight ... There are laws in which easements can be obtained by the various municipalities, sates and federal government if they really wanted to deal with the paperwork and $$$$ and IMO as a tax payer I believe it is their duty... A private property owner who cuts a road that goes only through his land and ends at federal or state land line does IMO have every right to close that gate and lock it ... But locking a FS roads that transgress far more than said private property, that has been being used and around way longer than the property and or the owner to locked up on technicalities is not right either. In 32 several of the places we would go and hunt would be an extra 2-3 miles from any road , but to Horse back or Hike in the extra 5 -6 miles now due to locked gates to see a big outfitter tent and 5 trucks at one of the sites used so many years ago via road access puts a sour taste in ones mouth ... I look at it as a public safety issue to... if something happens on horse back or hiking that is an emergency there is a Huge difference between 2 miles and 6 or 7 . p.s. on state trust land there has been quiet a bit of tax dollars spent in cutting roads for various industries such as mining and utilities as well ... Still, as Lark said, I do not see how what is going on in Oregon has anything to do with the locked gates in Arizona. Unless you want to use the example of The the Hammonds using the exact same argument most of us are when the Feds locked the gates on them cutting off the once used access to the top half of their ranch ... They could have cut a new Road if they wanted ... but why would ranchers cut new roads when they can take over roads that were made for them so long ago on tax payers or another's dollar ? -
dang ... Would have been nice to have seen this yesterday . Who ever gets it enjoy !

Not saying that it is as bad as some states .... The hundreds of thousands I am talking about are places in 32 in 33 that I used to hunt with my grandpa who hunted there with his dad ... But if you want to talk state G&F has it at 6.1 % of of public land ( 4.5 Million acres ) is land locked ... http://www.azgfd.gov/outdoor_recreation/landowner_access.shtml Unfortunately there has been No traction with the Hunt Act that was introduced in 2013 that would be a big step in giving hunters access back especially in in states like New Mexico and Colorado ... -

Shut Up ! That is a Douche Bag comment ... Any Public :Land ( Owned by ALL including the Game ) that is land locked by any party should be be closed to Hunting For ALL ... I have over 6 generations of family in this state and there have been hundreds of thousands of acres of once accessible Public land in good units Locked up .... most of it over the last 25 years and much of that by ranches that were sold to out state individuals and/or companies. The Bulk of the roads through these units were cut dozed and maintained by federal and state tax dollar for the better part of the previous century.... If access to a single individual to public land Via these roadways it should be available to all.. period ! -
Did not realize there were so many Helicopter Parents on CWT ... I think for the most part this site is easily a G rating with an occasional PG/PG13 thread ... As a parent I think others naive if they believe that their kids are not exposed to way worse words a hundred times more a day than they will ever see on this site.... God Forbid ( <considered cursing by many) Parents have to explain and teach children about the world surrounding them and what is and is not proper.

Lark , I doubt any outfitter out there is going to burn a bridge that may limit them access to ORO ranch ... heck I am betting that many outfitters that use the Ranch will be donating to his Defense fund under the table... -

Effects of so many monsters killed on the strip this year
Str8Shot replied to bonecollector777's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Yeah cut the # of tags and no more harvesting little guys and in 5 years when the # of deer keeps increasing see how many fewer truly huge bucks are being harvested? culling small bucks can be just as important as harvesting mature bucks , especially if followed by a year or years of lower than average vegetation growth. Total # of deer or elk to the size of a range directly impacts the quality of bucks and bulls as well as does and cows and birthing rate. -
Got my son a new .22 for Christmas and am trying to find a fair deal on a brick or two of ammo.... if anyone knows anyplace in the East Valley or has some at a fair price myself and my son would appreciate it..

Those that have been around a while know I am not big on Trail cams and do not feel sorry for those who leave them and loose them... With that said though, I do hate the idea of good people losing $$$$, so figured I would share a killer deal on amazon right now for you camera guys... http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=lp_13194836011_gbps_img_s-3_0842_9e1c1b6d?rh=i%3Asporting%2Cn%3A13194836011%2Cn%3A13194836011&ie=UTF8&lo=sporting&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&node=13194836011&lo=sporting . DCAguy ... As someone who enters many raffles, the comment "seems worded funny" was specific to the point that almost every if not all raffles I have seen have a maximum # of entries. People like to know their odds. I was very specific in the way I worded the question and being skeptical was based on me believing that I read it as worded and that their were not a maximum # chances. If those representing your drawing were unsure , it should have been communicated with you from what I am reading. Regardless of the cause, and I do feel like yours is a good one, communication and integrity go a long way. There is no doubt that individuals purchased tickets believing that at bare minimum they would have a 1 in 300 chance and to check it off as people not taking the time to understand what they are reading is a cop out. Your response IMO did you no favors in showing your organization in a positive light nor did your method of communicating the # of chances vs draw date. That is the reason I wrote it specifically out in my original response. I will make sure that myself and friends look at donating to other organizations in the future but yours will not be among them. -
We can only hope it comes back! and maybe they create a sticky thread to teach people like the guy who suggested the change in the first place how to use the New Content Filters to achieve what he wanted and we could always do since the forum switched years ago.

I am not trying to be a scrooge, But when asked if 300 was a minimum and if so was there a max # of chances ... it was said that 300 was the max # of chances that would be sold. It is disheartening to see that this was not true and your video proves that many more than 300 were sold. You had 16 entries in the 20 ticket purchases drawing for the gift card and that total alone is 320 chances and I am pretty certain there were a lot more people buying just a few chances... I was skeptical from the beginning and glad I did not purchase any , but I do feel bad for those who did purchase based on the idea that every $5.00 gave them a 1 in 300 chance as that clearly was not the case. Congrats to the winner
