It’s too much work to go catch a bunch of 6 - 8 inch fish
-
I would not recommend that, they don't play around on the San Carlos. You will get cited and fined even if your address on the permit you bought does not match your drivers license address, they will literally get you for anything and everything.

I am not exactly sure what it is for but my guess would be it goes towards game and fish department and conservation efforts on the Rez. They don't have a lot of money on San Carlos like a Rez in the valley does so every dollar counts and helps them up there.
-
And they’re still continuing to release water out the dam
-
My recommendation would be Bartlett Lake, not too far from Pleasant. Not a lot of size in that lake but every time I have gone we have caught quite a bit of fish, perfect for the youngsters.

I have used inflatable and standard kayak for fishing many times. Much better then a tube and I would definitely recommend over a pontoon. Lol Have to work a lot harder but can get you into spots much easier, especially if you’re bass fishing.
-
No word on Canyon but I was at Bartlett a couple weekends ago and the bass bite was solid. Typical Bartlett, not much size but good action.

Sounds like a awesome trip!

The east valley lakes just have the normal issues of too many people out there on the weekends but no restrictions at night that I have seen or heard of. I was at Saguaro last month past 8pm and got right in.
-
I am heading up there next Friday. Hoping the water has slowed and cleared up by then based on the dry weather these past couple weeks. I will let y'all know how it looks.

NICE!!! Good eating

Hello, Taking my mother fishing this weekend, has anyone done any fishing recently or heard reports on the lower Tonto Creek near the Gisela area before it converges into Roosevelt? I know there are small mouth and trout in there but I cant find any reports on how the bite has been. Any information would be greatly appreciated, please feel free to just DM me if you prefer that. Thanks

So hit up the Tonto Creek near Gisela on Saturday, as reported above the water flow was minimal and levels are low. We were able to hike in and found a deep pool where I caught a nice 3lb small mouth and couple other smaller ones (8-10 inches). I was with my mom so wasnt able to keep hiking the river as much as I would have liked, but there are some small mouth in the deeper pools if you can get to them. After Gisela we just drove up to Khols Ranch and fished the creek, a lot of decent trout swimming around we caught 3 on some power bait.

I have no problem sharing information, I have always answered peoples questions and posted my success or lack there of when asked. I may have not openly reported back about every trip I have taken, but I have never intentionally ignored requests for info. But I understand what you are saying, I will report back how it goes this weekend Cool man, I just noticed your last topic went unanswered, and we like reports too!! Not a report per se, but I can tell you that the Tonto Creek above Gun Creek USGS gauge is at 2 CFS right now, and it has been dryyyyyyy. Very few pockets of water remain anywhere near Tonto Basin. Thanks man I appreciate you sharing that, I will definitely share what I find up there.

My friends and I have been up to the Black 4 times this year most recently in early October and fishing was lights out every single trip! Although we never fish near where the black turns into the salt like you described. Hopefully the algae bloom and parasites dont move further up river too far.
-
I was thinking of fishing some new parts of the Black this year. I know the best fishing is along the lower/south portions of river. But wanted to switch it up and was thinking of fishing up river a bit more, just to the SE of where the White merges with the Salt. Anyone had any luck fishing for small mouth bass up in that part of the river?

My buddy went up 2 weeks ago and said the water level is high and clarity is not that good. Also, roads can be extremely bad this time of year with all the rain so make sure you have a winch.
