  1. Thanks all, I really like that Browning X-Bolt Micro Midas 7mm08 but finding a left handed one anywhere is the challenge!

My wife has the left hand X Bolt micro hunter in 7mm-08. I have the full length left hand X Bolt hunter in 25-06. Bolt are nice handling rifles that shoot .6 to .7 MOA with the loads they like. We highly recommend them.

  2. Thought I dig another old topic out of the dust. This is a Montana mule deer I killed back in the late 80's early 90's. He was missing his rear leg from the knee down. There wasn't any signs of scar tissue and I think he was born this way. He was perfectly capable of jumping the average ranch fence.

  3. As far as rounds for trading I have a lot of the basics plus ....... 454 Casull, 308 marlin express, 444 Marlin, 375 Win, and 300WSM that's been necked down to 257 cal, 257/300 WSM if you will. Basic being 380, 9mm, 40 S&W, 45ACP, 45 Colt, 223, 243, 25-06, 270, 7mm-08, 7mm Rem mag, 308, 30-06, 300 Ultra mag.

Don't know if anyone noticed but I added 308 marlin express to my cartridges to trade if anyone is interested.

  4. Ok, I'm following you now. I'm definitely more reckless in that I collect them all and put them all together. I do intentionally have multiple pieces for the same chambering, if I feel there's something interesting about the extra pieces I have. I even found an unintentional duplicate when I was making my list. I had one that was headstamped 32 WCF and one Headstamped 32-20. After some research I realized they were the same chambering.

  5. This thread had been dead since 2010, long before I joined CWT. I figured I must be the only one strange enough to have a collection of cartridges packed away in a dark corner of the closet. Recently HNDLDR resuscitated the thread. I had been working on an idea of how to put my collection on display in a manner where I did not have a 600 pin bowling alley. I have everything unpacked and pretty close to sorted. It currently looks like this. My style of collecting is based upon the chamber. For the most part these cartridges cannot be fired in the same weapon.

That's a sweet collect! So what types of chambers are you referring to? Is it firearm type? Sorry if I'm missing a simple idea. The top pictures look like large military stuff. What I don't understand is how you are segregating the lower ones that look like sporting type cartridges mixed with some military small arm type stuff.

  7.

I have a 25-06 I'm about ready to throw down the chute!

I happen to have a loving home for any unruly 25-06's. I promise to feed them whatever it takes to get them shooting appropriately. ;)

If it wasn't for my gunsmith convincing me to turn that .25-06 into a custom .280AI for my son, I'd consider making you an offer, especially now that I've almost got my 6.5WSM figured out. Stupid wildcat rounds...

Nice! I have a 25 WSM I need to dig out and play with again one of these days.

I don't have a list of what is in my collection. I'm out of state with work at the moment. 9. anyone use varget with their 7mm-08?

We have four 7mm-08s at my house me all use the 140 Gr Ballistic tip for deer and 140 Gr Accubond for elk. They're all over Varget powder. The two bullets shoot to the same point of impact within reason. All four will usually put at least three shot under an inch at 100 yards. My sons TC Venture will usually stack three shots in less then a half inch with the other three rifle being in between.

  10. HNDLDR I'm sure I probably have some extras in duplicates laying around that might interest you. Getting ready to take off for a week's vacation but I could dig them up and let you know what I have when I get back if you're interested. What city do you live in?

I always love to get new additions to my collection. Unfortunately as to what city I live in, it's all the way up here in Vernal Utah. I've never been coues hunting. It's just been a dream of mine. One that will probably be a long time in the making of ever. So instead I joined this site so I can live vicariously through you folks.

  11. Looks like I read wrong, I thought the hollow point and AP were two different items. The black color makes sense in a way, black is the NATO color code for AP. Does that one have a hardened penetrator rod in the center of the projectile?

You read correctly I just didn't make it very clear. The AP round is a solid metal core with a green teflon coating.

  12. That is not so bad you just shuffle them over to make room for the new one. What sucks is when you bump the shelf and knock them all over. :( Then there are dilemmas like the .244 Remington and the 6 mm Remington, do you want both?

Actually I do have some duplicates. You know the regular 30-06 and the 30-06 loaded with the rubber bullet. The silver tip 30-30 and the 30-30 accelerator. There's four 38 specials, the wad cutter, the shot shell, a weird hollow point with a very shiny black coating and one I was told would penetrate Kevlar.
