Anyone hear of any success on these "new" hunts?
-
Bret and my brother Richard headed south for some fun. We hunted a new area none of us had been to since the plan A was shot with crowds. As to be expected. Bret harvested this beautiful 2x3 on opening morning. Mine was a 2x4 on sunday last weekend. This was an "awa"hunt for me and to come up with some great bucks was a bonus. We had a great time. Shots were 330 yards and 300.

This is all such BS but it is going to get worse especially since we have a total jacka$$ taking office. I hate to say this but in 10 years we could be california if this does not stop. Just like was said before first this, then motorized vehicles then etc. All I know is that this state and country should stand strong in the next years to come. If we don't we lose..... All you jokers that think this will be okay should realize as hunters we are all of the same party, and should defend or stand for each other, like family. Anyone disagree can kiss my uknowwhat! -

I like to sleep all day on the mountain and wait for them to walk into my sleeping area and then shoot from the hip! LOL No we stay out all day and take a catnap under a tree for 30 min or my brother will wake me up when he starts snoring.

I would have held out for a 515 bull myself.

I think oompa loompa would have been a better name. Sweet bull!

That's a barnburner bull!!! Holy shat!

My final guess is 370 4/8 could be off by a bunch but I wasted some time pausing the video and doing my bs let me know what he is. I only added 5 inches to the original guess but I cant wait to see now it is bugging me. Not much else to do. Other than go to bed now.

Tell Ron Burgandy we are sorry for scoring him wrong. He is probably around 380 a friend of mine's wife just shot a bull that looks just like that in another unit and he was 380-390. I would rather under score than over score any day.

CONCERNS WITH COUESWHITETAIL.COM
jnobleinaz replied to tjhunt2's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Welcome to the Net age of hunting I say. I was one of the newbies to hunting in 2001 and I drew a tag in 2002. I found a site called MM. I thought it was great. You could post questions and get reasonable answers. Then something changed. By 2005 it was a pi%%ing contest. State vs state for elk and everyone bashing the heck out of the guy who gets on the site for the first time and asks questions about a unit. I just think you can get rubbed the wrong way right of the bat with members of a site. I was a guy who asked questions back then and got some nice answers. If you do that now you will get crushed for E-scouting. Well I have an opinion on this. We should not bash someone for asking a question. There are also a lot of younger kids these days that do not know how to communicate other than email or text messaging. If they get on here or any other site and ask a question, then get hammered by all these (experts), what good does that do? Sometimes a little general information is all someone is asking for. Secondly, on these topics that have come up in the past. Some guys have nuts face to face and some guys don't. But it seems everyone has the big cohonas on these type of sites. I have a friend who gave a great analogy to me, he said it is like that Brad Paisley song about my space. On here anyone can talk big or try to. In my opinion if you don't have the courage to say something to someones face don't come on here or any other site and run your mouth. It is very easy to get PC muscles and pump out a bunch of crap. Keep it real and to the point. The ONLY reason I ever visit this site is for enjoyment. And to see pictures and stories of other peoples adventures. I have read many posts and held back on certain things some members have said. But I feel sometimes people can dig their own holes by themselves, and do not need any help. So anything I ever write or post is my solid opinion and if you see me in the flesh you can get the same answer. But we do have kids on this site and we have to be careful of what we say and how we say it. Keep it real, stay off the Internet steroids, and we will all be fine. -
I would say 365 tops short fronts and thirds. Good back though hard to tell on the mass but it looks average to me.

On the Br reticle you pick your target size and it tells you at which yardages you will hit the target size of an 8 inch or 6 inch circle which is usually the target on big game. the tds does the same but just doesnt have as many lines and dots. It is just exactly the same thing as on your bow pins. Usually you have 20-30-40-50-60 yard pins right. so if the animal is 44 yards what do you do? Put it right between the pins. these scopes are not for competition shooting they are made for hunting. Step by step, range animal, look at your stock, aim, shoot. It's not too hard. Actually pretty easy like an archery shot. And when you are looking through a 18 or 24 power scope the target is pretty large. I do not want to shoot at 700 plus yards just 400-600 yards if needed. But I will only shoot so if I have proven myself in practice.

John, I am thinking that sending a gun off just to have that work done is a bit excessive in the first place.... However, I can tell you that after I mounted my scope, developed a load and bullet that I was happy with, did the Data shooting & sent that off, got the Turret back, zeroed my rifle back at 200 with the new turret and field tested the turret... I had Three months wrapped up in all the cuz I had other stuff to do in life as well..... ..... I know how frustrating it can be when you are waiting for something to arrive in the mail.... I am sure your buddy needed that gun and it was durring thier busy season, too.... Yada, Yada,Yada..... and he was frickin' Pissed....like we all would be...... That does not change the fact that he can order a new turret any time with any type of ammo he wishes.... and all he has to do is send them the data! As far as reloading.... IMO.... If you plan to shoot longrange while in a hunting situation, then you better have custom ammo from somewhere. Sorry, your buddy had a bad go of it with Gun Werks.... I have a lot of faith in the scope though! Ya he got the gun back 3 days before his late kaibab hunt last year. He was just mad cause they kept putting him off cause they first told him it would be 6 weeks.

Exactly what I was going to say. Gut shot 24 hours. Just like people that take will frontal shots on elk the result will be bad in the end. The hard part is to hold back the adrenaline and stay calm. At least you tried but the only thing I dont like is the quote of "It's only a spike and not a monster". All the big game animals we hunt deserve the same credit. I lost a javelina last year and it made me sick. Literally. Looked for two days. Anyway keep your head high

The swaro system lets you input all those numbers you just said altitude temperature etc. In the end its all math. You can figure out on paper where your bullet will hit with a perfect squeeze.
-
huskemaw is who my buddy went through and it took them 5 months to get his rifle back. The only thing is that if you do not reload your are stuck buying their rounds. he was not to happy with their service.

I usually dont like to post on equipment because everyone seems to be an expert on here now. But I did a lot of research before I just bought my 300 win mag scope and I was in the same situation you were. 3x9-50mm existing scope. I went with a SWAROVSKI 6x18-50. I chose the BR reticle. This is a great formula. Unless you have a swarovski serial number you cannot enter into the software. When you enter into their system it asks you basic questions. What load, custom? Or factory ammo. They have all the ballistics for any ammo you can think of. Then you pick what elevation, temperature, and what yardage you want your zero. It takes all the custom information YOU have entered and gives you your shot placement within the reticle. Also the objective lens is adjustable and for longer than 225 yard shot it recommends using max power. What I love is the program lets YOU control the zero sight in. Which normally I have all my rifles sighted in at 200 yard zero. But with this program I chose 100 yard zero. Much easier and with the BR reticle my last crosshair is at 747 yards. Thats a good poke. The 200 yard zero had me at over 800 yards. I have a buddy of mine who spent a TON of money sending his rifle off to Wyoming to have turrets put on and custom ammo made for his rifle. Also he needed extra turrets for elevation changes. They have the scope I purchased for around $1200.00, my buddy spent almost $2000 and he has to use their custom ammo. The cartridge I use is a 150 grain Hornaday interbond factory ammo. If I want to change I can. Anyway just letting you know my choice. I dont expect you to do the same but at least check it out. I wish they would let people try the software before so you can see the difference. I know some other scopes have something similar but I went with a scope with solid glass and a great warranty. I know it is a good chunk of change but in the long run I believe I made a good choice.
