    Spot lighting

I have spotlighted a monster bull . And he just kept on eating . I watched him for about 45 minutes and decided to move onm and find another one. I have a spot light that is rechargable so I can go down to a couple of meadows that are out in the middle of nowhere. It is fun and ethical. If it bothers the elk they move and when you leave they come back out and eat again. I will tell you that I have noticed that they don't stick around as long anymore for you to stay and look long. that alone will tell you that they are shot at as much during the dark as the day. You would be sick if you knew how many elk are poached every month up there. alot of it is done in the dark. In eager every year highschool kids have a contest. Each point on the bull counts as a point. the one with the most points at the end of the week. is the champion. I have lots of family that live up there . My cousin lost his guide service because his brother got caught shooting Five six point bulls in one night. He was in his brothers truck. He was also a guide for his brother. They told me when the kids get busted a new group joins the game.At that rate you can only guess at how many elk go down each week. I have seen over 10 dead cows in one day. six of them in one meadow. It is fun to do and I will keep doing it until they make it against the law. So spot on treestandman. And give it a try Ernesto.

    Spot lighting

Spot lighting is fun. It can give you a good chance to see some nice animals. I do it every chance I get to. I will also say ernesto is right you better not even have more than a pocket knife in you truck. I had a friend that is a police man required by law to carry an off duty weapon at al times. The game and fish sited him for it. We were lucky to not get in bigger trouble. They kill so many elk and deer up in that country poaching that it is not much fun to spotlight anymore because you get pulled over and searched almost every time now.
  4. I know a guy that hit a rattler with his car and it fliped up in th motor and came through the fire wall inside his car. I guess you can say anything can happen. All I can say is wow what a picture to remember.

    Arizona Bonus Points

Just keep putting in for it. As a student you will stay a resedent of Arizona. That is why you pay out of state tuition. You will not have the bonus point taken from you any way. My brother was leaving for two years so he called the game and fish and they said he would keep the bonus points. The thing about bonus points is they are only good when used. It is not like they only have so many to give out and they run out. hope that helps you out. besides anything else bonus points have been worthless to me and many hunters anyway. some guys get drawn year after year and others go ten years with not getting drawn. The truth of the matter is you probably stand a better chance at becomeing a res of another state and putting in and gettin drawn right. Good luck with the draw and with your education.
  6. The snakes are bad this year. I know of a few guy's that I prospect with have had two dogs killed and had some close calls. I have been lucky so far.

what's better, tree stands or stalking

Tree stand hunnting is like fishing to me, and I don't like to fish unless I am fishing a stream and hiking up and down it. But like it was said above if you like it you like it if you don't you don't.

    Radios

They mean you can't spot light. Or use the red and blue lights on a scope. It also means if you have a light that inhances your fiber optic sites on a bow It will keep you from the books

    Radios

Ernesto You are right . you can not use them for guideing each other to deer and enter them in the books. I am sure they have a few in the books where radios are used. After all who is going to say you did. It is your word against the deer. By that point You have taken care of the deer haveing a say right.

    LOOKING FOR A GOOD GUIDE

I would like to thank all for helping me out with this. It looks like we have some good guy's looking at them now. It will be a good venture for all involved. I just hope I get one of the tags some time down the road.
  11. I have a friend that just bought a ranch in unit 12 in New Mexico and Comes into Arizona .He has some archery bull, rifle bull and cow tags. He has one antalope tag and some mule deer tags also. We want to find an honest and good guide service to help us out with the tags. If anyone is interested in this shoot me an email at. jadegoodmangang@msn.com

    Radios

I use the motorola 5 mile radios. I also have a galaxy CB radio in my truck it will get up on skip waves and Go clear to other states. You need to be aware that if you use radios with a hunting partner while taking game you can not enter that game in the record books. Atleast that is how I understand it.

    hunting unit 22

Yep that is the spot. You can take some of the side roads back on the mormon grove side. If you are watching close enough you will find a few roads that are overgrown. But great for quad riding.

    hunting unit 22

I guess I may be thinking of the other side of the highway. There is a spot off of the old highway up there that is called mormon creek or something like that. You can go back in there and find lots of roads. They are not much good for trucks but great for quads. There are only like two or three roads of the south side of the highway. If I am thinking of the right spot one of them goes to the top of mnt to a tower ther are a few roads in there for quads also as I recall , But not many. That side you will want a lion tag in also. I hope I am thinking of the right spot for you.

    hunting unit 22

Yes I have. If you have a quad the roads are endless in there also. I road for 8 hours in there without riding on the same road untill on the way out. great bear to so make sure you get a bear tag.

    LOOKING FOR A GOOD GUIDE

I will ask him where it is in unit 12. Yes you are right about the tags going for more than they may be worth, And being wasted. I told him the best thing to do would be to broker them him self. That would also mean it would be easy for me to get one then to right.

    LOOKING FOR A GOOD GUIDE

I told him to just sale them like that , And he said he thought he wanted to get a guide involved. I told him he should just go start a guide service of his own. I would love to get mine in New Mexico. I guess I should look into what it takes to get it over there . I also told him the archery bull tags were not worth a cent , But that I would take them off of his hands for him. He didn't fall for that at all.

    ammo choice for 25 '06...

I have killed all my deer with a 243 and 25-06. I have killed deer as close as 50 yards to 500 yards with ammo bought at wallmart. I also have a friend that reloads all the time and puts hours and hours into his shooting , and has made shots that are almost imposible to think of. What I am trying to say is the 25-06 is so fast and flat shooting that it is just a good gun the way it comes. So any work you put into your ammo and shooting. practice will make it as deadly as you want to make it . Get out and shoot it and have fun with it , And coues deer beware come this season because there is another 25-06 in the field. Good luck in the draw and with the new hunting partner.

    Salt Blocks

I have seen plenty of bear baits in Arizona. Now I know it is against the law, But I have come across a few in my years out hunting. ike you said though I have never seen a bear on one. They are dry when I find them and not in use at the time. I have put down a way point on the GPS and turned them over to the game and fish. Your deer can go in the books even when taken over salt. Atleast from what I have heard.
  20. that day will be like a birthday for us. when we look on here and see all the new updates.

    Salt Blocks

they have more minerals than just salt that are attractants to deer. I have not used it , And I don't use salt eather. I know guy's that have used both and been able to harvest of both also.

    Typical or Nontypical

I have found that up hill or down hill 3 miles is a long ways with a buck on your back right. It is well worth going far of the roads to me. I have been lucky a couple of times to take a deer or two and one Elk from the road. I will tell you this it was on my way to the spot to get me far from the raods That i got those by the road. Lot's of guys have filled a tag from the road. It takes all kinds in this fine sport we love.

  24. I know the site is having trouble. When I try getting on it dosn't give me the options anymore so I have to go down to the bottom of the opening page where it says you can get on the forum down there. I know you are working on it so I thought this might be some info to help you know what is going on from this end. For the last to days prior to this all the opsions were blank brown spots. Good luck and I hope it works out soon. I am haveinga hard time filling up my spare time with out the site up and running.
  25. Did you cut the rattle off of it first. I cut them off and keep them, for what stupid reason I don't know. I just have a crap load of snake rattles in my garage. Oh well glad to see a car got it before it got one of us or some child latter.
