I'm partial to a particular model of Keen boots that I found at REI several years ago.  They fit my foot better and with more comfort than any boot I had ever owned (Hiked Havasupai one week after purchasing them with ZERO issues.)!  I have owned two of this model now, and still have a back-up brand new pair in my closet for when the current pair wears-out.  LOL  With so many different boots to choose from and so many different feet, walking style, etc., that what works best for one person doesn't necessarily work for the next.  That being said, whatever brand/style you start to target, I would recommend going to a good shoe store (or REI) for some experienced sizing/try-on coaching to try to get the best for your shape/style of foot.

Also, here's a recent thread for you to browse:

    Good luck!!

Well crap. We literally just put my son's lab down at 4:17pm today.  He got her when he was 12 and that was 12 Christmases ago.  Abby was an amazing companion, hunting partner, and family member.   Thanks for posting at such an opportune time.  dang old dogs, they suck you in every time.  Not sure I can show him this yet  but in time.

Don't underestimate the quality of these binos.  I have the 12 x 50 Viper HD bino and took them into Bass Pro shops last week for a possible upgrade.  I almost bought a pair of Leupold BX-4 online (due to a great offer) without physically looking thru them.  I just knew that they would be better than the Viper HD.  Man was I wrong.  I was doing a comparison for binos that were priced up to $1,500.  I compared the Vipers to the Nikon Monarch HG, Leica Trinovid, Zeiss Conquest and Leupold BX-4 & Leupold BX-5 and others.  I know that everyone's eyes are different, but the Viper HD literally outshined the others.  Yes there are better binos available (buy once, cry once),  but the Vipers hold their own in comparison to other big "Brand" names.  Something has seriously gone wrong with the quality, lenses, coatings, etc... with some of these companies.  I tried to spend more money, but I walked out of BPS without making a purchase.  I'm very satisfied and impressed with this Vortex product.

I have never hunted SW Colorado but yes units 71/711 are now draw only. I’m not sure about 70. I’ve spent the past 5 years up there during the time around Memorial Day and just returned yesterday. Normally I see several hundred cows in the calving grounds near the cabin and this year I saw a total of 12 elk.
the numbers appear to be down. Maybe they haven’t moved in the area yet but from what I saw making them draw units are a good thing.
