Some scouting photos
Foundry Man replied to Foundry Man's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Amanda, Feel free! I would be happy to contribute. Hopefully I'll have some quality pictures of some bucks here pretty soon!>>Jason -
I went out to the Burro's last evening, with my kids, to do some scouting and see if we could see some bucks. We only saw does, but my kids and I found this set of Coues antlers. We found the first one, then my kids got a lesson in shed hunting. We started making our circles, Looking for the match, about 15 minutes later, I was using my binocs, glassing the ridgetop, and I saw tines! The kids got to play "find the antler" game. I couldn't belive we found the other side!!! It was very cool. They were about 150 yards apart! Enjoy the photos!>>Jason What do you all think? Is it a shooter?

Foundry Man replied to TLH's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
TLH, hey man, you remeber me as Droptine on AZOD. I haven't been on that site for a while. Congrats on the tag. Hey I was just browsing through, and read this post. My wife has a goat tag a little north of Carazozo in Sept. Have you hunted over there before?? Well Good luck Man!!>>Jason -
Thanks Man!! I guess I can't pass up an offer like that. I'll get them to you in a few days. Maybe I'll just give you a buzz.>>Jason

2007 Coues Contest
Foundry Man replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Well, I am pretty new to this site, but I would be very willing to donate a bronze sculpture. I could do a coues deer bust, similar to this mule deer a did last spring. Here is a photo- It would be on a little smaller scale, but basically the same thing. I would just donate the peice. (any financial donations would just go to cover the cost of materials i.e. bronze, mold materials and foundry costs) But these would be minimal with me doing all the work! I could even post pictures of the "work in progress" and get feed back on what you guys want ( as far as droptines, double eyeguards and other antler features go) anyway, I am willing, let me know.>>Jason -
Thanks!! You can't really tell by the pictures, but the 1st tine on each side is pretty heavily bladed. I found a single a few weeks ago about a mile from where I picked up these and you could tell it came from the same gene pool. I would love to hunt this area on my Nov. rifle hunt, but it is sooooooooo thick!>>Jason

Jason, Crap man, that is an awsome find! I thought I was lucky the other day when I found my set!! I went out the night before last and found a set of mule deer antlers laying side by side. It was a 3x4. I saw the 3 point 1st, and thought I had found a 115 inch coues. Then I got to it and saw the little 4 point side and got pissed off. I guess that's when you know you are a whitetail freak, when you are upset when you pick up a set of muley horns! Congrats on the find!!>>Jason

Petting and crying over a wolf carcass ?? I'm not exactly sure where I stand on the wolf issue. (probably somewhere in the middle), but a wolf is somthing wild, to be respected. These wolves seem to come from "watered down" gene pools. For someone (this NMGF Officer) to bitch and cry over "their" dead wolf seems to SCREAM that somthing ain't right in this system. Aldo Loepold wrote about wolves in his bible. All these crazies need to read it again! There is no wild green fire in these wolves. I've seen two wolves in my time outdoors, both of them looked so bad and flea bitten, they should have been shot! If the goverment's Mexican Grey wolf "wet dream" was going to work, they would be established already (not in need of rotting road kill to survive). Maybe we need to tie a T-Bone steak to Bill Richardson's arse, and let him run around the wolf pen for a while and see if any "killer instincts" come out in "Fido975" and "Rover 697" !!!>>Jason

Cool pictures of a muley
Foundry Man replied to Foundry Man's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I took all these through my scope. This buck was about 75 yards away. I have a Zeiss scope with the digiscope adapter. It took a while to get used to using it, but I have gotten some pretty good picts as of late. I got some really pretty Coues Does the other day. I can't wait till there are some fawns running around, and the bucks have a little more horn on their heads. It's just fun to combine scouting with photography.>>Jason -
Got these the other day while I was out scouting, enjoy>>Jason

broadheads you guys are shooting?
Foundry Man replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
100 grain Steelforce w/ bleeder blades. They fly like a lazer and kill stuff. I almost cut my elk in half! But if they are sharp, and you put it right in the goodies, any broadhead will work. -
Hey dude< I saw the story about your bull in "Rocky Mountain Game and Fish Magazine"! I love that mag, when I opened this months issue, I was suprised! That was cool man>>Jason

I was up camping near Big Lake, and I took my spotting scope and camera out and put a stalk on these bulls and got a few cool pictures. Hope you all enjoy!>>Jason

Some SWEET elk picts
Foundry Man replied to Foundry Man's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Houston, my brother J has the Nov. Bull hunt in unit 23 (little fart), Other than that, nope. I don't really know who all has tags. I know J also has an archery antelope tag in 4b. Not to mention an Alaska trip for Moose. I think J and Jarom may come to Silver City and try to film my Coues hunt in the Burro's. We'll see. Do you have any hunts? -
I bought my Zeiss scope from Cameraland. They saved me a wad of cash. I was very happy with their service.

Foundry Man replied to fatfootdoc's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Adam, You can't carry my gun, but you can carry my bullets ( Barney Fife Style), then you can hand me some ammo ONLY when we see a toad! Might save me from shooting a dink!>>Jason -

Burro Mountains Rifle Coues!!!!! -
I am sick and tired of hearing about your elk tag!
Foundry Man replied to bobbyo's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I've had so many elk tags, I wipe my butt with them! Great post! Laughed out loud!!>>Jason -
Jamero- I was up in 27 last night. Saw a few bucks. The key to hunting up by Big Lake, Buffalo Crossing or any where up there is getting off the raod. It is a ZOO during the hunt, but if you get a little ways off the beaten path, there are lots of little "eater" bucks, and you won't see a soul. Salt licks are ok in AZ, so if you want to get a honey hole started, now is the time.

Foundry Man replied to Foundry Man's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Well, I hope so! But, with only 24 other guns in there, It should be a sweet hunt.
