  1. I'm with ya bowcrazy, decide one or the other and prove you can shoot prior to just letting a dozen arrows go during a weekend of drinking and driving the roads. How it is structured now is you have a rifle tag, you can still go out with your bow, and if you kill you don't get to use your rifle tag and neither does the guy that didn't get drawn so that tag goes to waist. Another post on this site is a perfect example of this, a tag going to waist. I also would have shot that buck and let my rifle tag go to waist, but is that fair to the guy that doesn't bow hunt and only rifle hunts? He/she only has one chance to harvest a deer why should we that archery hunt have two chances. I say decide what tag you want and thats the tag you get. At least if you have a rifle tag, no archery tag for you, keep us that drew a tag out of the woods and let the guys that didn't draw have the woods to themselves or at least less people. Just a thought?
  2. Good luck, great buck. Have you seen any good bulls out there?

Those park bucks like to have their pics taken. It's going to be tough to sneak one of them out of there with all the folks that watch them. 193" and 202", tell your buddy to have fun.

    My turn

That sucks, I hope that I hear sometime soon that one of us catch one of these guys soon. I've locked mine and they have been stolen, left them unlocked and they just get screwed with, I don't think there is a good answer. All mine are off the beaten path also?? Someday they'll get caught.

Guess how many posts in July?

    980 posts and 83000 views
  8. I went to check on my camera today and found that someone had taken mud from the base of the tree and covered the camera lens, you can see the finger prints in the mud. They didn't damge anything or take the card, they did this the same day I put the camera up. When I got home I had three pics of the individuals that did it. I had one stolen already this year about 2 miles from this one and I don't think it was them, because they did not take this one and it had no lock. It was also 1 mile from a road. I'll post there pics later. It's a husband, wife and a 13-15 year old boy. They look like animal lovers not hunters, but the pics are good and hopefuly someone will recognize them. Pissed me off!!!
  9. They took it all, I don't know were they put it, I lokked around. I guess they might have carried it out? Pretty far and heavy at that. Jason

I'll be hunting it for the nov. hunt, my wife has the tag.
  11. I tried the shirt and the hat but it was to fuzzy. I still have 4 other cameras out in the area that haven't been screwed with yet, hopefuly it stays that way.
  12. The camera is near flagstaff, and it was on a monday so I guess they are flag locals, I live here and don't know them.
  13. Here is the pics, I hope it works this is the first time I've posted any. Let me know if any of you recognize these people. Jason

    great buck!!!!
  15. Tony, your analogy of a canned hunt refering to a treed lion is no where near the same as any of the other hunts you refer to unless they are in a pen or tied to a tree. These hunters and I use the term hunters are sportsmen the same as anyone else. There is no difference in having friend who located a big buck in a unit you have a tag in and on opening day you go in with your buddy and he shows it to you and you shoot it. Maybe you bought him some beers or took him to dinner for the help? I have been on several of these hunts you refer to, one person in particular was not able to walk well, but he enjoyed himself and the company he had. Does that make him not a hunter, because he has money and can't walk? I don't think so. If I have a tag and someone other than me locates a trophy animal and is able to keep an eye on it through scouting and spending time with it, I would have no problem in going with that person opening morning to try and harvest that animal if the individual was gracious enough to help me out. To each his own, what you think is sportsman like, someone else might not think so, as is the case we have here. Thats what makes this world turn, not everyones beliefs are the same. Don't try to change a persons perspectives. I don't believe in high fenced hunts, so I won't participate in them, should I try and abolish them, I don't think so. To each his own. Fight a fight that needs to be fought not one against individuals that support our state and the sport you and everyone else on this site loves so dearly.

    Over the counter deer tags

That was my first thought also. If there are 30,000 OTC tags sold every year, that equates to an extra $210,000 per year in app fees they are missing out on. I'll bet that 99% of all hunters applying for an archery deer tag would get their tag. Next up - fall bear hunts, lion, and archery turkey. If there is 30,000 OTC tags sold every year, I bet that 99% of those tag holders are applying for rifle deer tags also during the regular draw. So your thought sounds right, but it would not be the case unless you could apply twice for deer and pay twice for the application fee. The G&F would still only get a one time application fee for deer.

    elk antler velvet

I've been seeing several rubbed bulls the past week.
  19. I'm all for the special permits, I'll never have one unless I win the raffle, but at least I have a chance. I guess as good of a chance as getting any tag in this state. I also now that my money is being put to a good cause. Power to anyone that can bid on and obtain that auction tag for whatever species they decide to bid on, again that money is going to a good cause. If you don't want to be part of the raffle or the auction for these animals, DON'T. Most the hunters in this state probably didn't even know about these tags until the AZSR came about, I don't think these folks would care for extra fee's to make up the for lost revenue this idea would cause.
  20. I have hunted it a several times, you might want to fly before the seasons get started. The elk in those units tend to move and are not easy to keep track of. Year to year they are in different spots. Scout hard, its a great tag.
  21. I have 2 of those same scopes, 1 on my 300 wsm and 1 on my 257 ackley improved. They are awesome both dead on. The 300 is set at 200 and goes up from there and the 257 is 300 and goes up from there. Killed 1 coues at 475 using the 500 mark dead on, deer went down right away. Killed another at 520 using the 500 mark also dropped in his tracks. It's quick and easy, takes the guessing game out of shooting. It is very similar to archery hunting. Have fun.
