That is a fantastic buck!! Congratulations to your son! Very happy you were able to tag out

    Thank you.

He hunted pretty hard for 9 days (we took of the middle day off) last season on the unit 10, youth antler-less hunt.

And while he did get his scope on one cow, she ducked behind some Juniper and the tag is still in his drawer.

    That hunt didn't deter him.

Wow! What a fantastic first deer! He's gorgeous. Great job getting those boys out there and learning how to hunt together.

Yes, my five year old walked up and over one of the biggest mountains in the unit to help us get him.

If he wouldn't have agreed to conquer that mountain at 6 am yesterday we would have probably only got

a forky like it seems everyone else got. That would have been OK, but this one is pretty special to Ryder.

Many valuable lessons learned on this hunt, for all of us.

  3. Thank you for the encouragement!

My son, 11, will be starting his first ever deer hunt tomorrow. Any antlered in 20C.

I might be more excited than he is...

Anyway, good luck to all the youth hunters and their mentors.

And be safe out there everyone!

BEWARE! I bought a Suspect Snitch but it won't accept SD cards, only MicroSD. I can't use MicroSD. Since SD is the industry standard they should have made that clear on their sales literature. I have sent them numerous emails and left several voicemails, none have been answered. That they don't let customers post to their Facebook page is sus as well. Beware buying from Suspect Game Cameras.

Here is how I break down my glassing spots:

Focus on sun filled hillsides adjacent to shaded drainages - that is where I spilled most of the bag

Then pathways to the other bait plie in the north or east facing drainages

Then finally to the bait pile 300 yards of the the water source - be sure to look top right to low left of each bait pile - sometimes deer can hide in the corn.

Anyone who has followed Mr Adams on Facebook over the past couple years knows there's absolutely 0% chance he wrote that post himself.

What do you mean? He wrote an entire book titled "How To Hunt Coues Deer".

We just got back from an amazing elk camp up north. I got to spend time with my great friends, grandchildren, clients, and guides. I am sure most of you know by now or will soon my recent verdict with the AZ Game and Fish Dept. Quite honestly we have been in an uphill battle with them since the moment I started my guiding career and this one was no different. I have talked to so many outfitters and guides through the years who have been on the winning & the losing side of this coin and at the end of the day it doesnt change. I have received multiple phone calls from great friends upset about people commenting, people happy about it, or people sharing it online. Honestly it's expected. I have been guiding and doing this for 47 years. These stories whether good or bad always have a version. Mine, theirs, and the truth. My entire hunting career I have had plenty of people that liked me and plenty of people that didn’t. That’s life. You could kill the biggest buck there was and there would be a person who had something negative to say. That won’t change today based on any of it. I have always shared with my kids that you will learn who your true friends are during tough times. Luckily for me I learned that many times over the years and fortunately those people are still around . This has been a wonderful career and business. We have harvested some amazing animals through the years and have more hunting stories than I can share and plenty more to make. I haven’t actually hunted myself in over 30 years. My son in law Nick DeBaca now owns our business and they are doing a wonderful job and I will be outfitting for them... so not much has changed there. l will still be in every hunting camp doing what I love most... Being around outdoorsman and raising up more hunters. On a different note I have a lot of knowledge on areas throughout Arizona & will be giving that away for free so although I won’t be guiding myself I will be sharing it all with people we will still be offering glassing lessons as well. So please give me a call if you have questions about anything. At 67 years old my last years will be spent hunting with my kids and grandchildren I have truly enjoyed taking people from around the world and teaching people things that were learned and passed down to me. I appreciate every single one of you who has reached out in support or has been there through the years. I hope you all make as many memories in the outdoors with the people that matter the most as we have and will continue to do. God Bless you all.

  8. Have to agree with the sentiment here, Verizon has better coverage, hands down. I was with Sprint for 15 years.

Wife wanted to switch for some deal and I've been happy about the switch every since.

Out in the deep woods I can always seem to get a signal when I need it whether using apps or making phone calls.

My son was up at Camp Geronimo this summer with BSA and we were told that there was zero signal. Yet he called

every morning and night right from his tent.

I'm the last person to shill for any corporation but the truth is just that.

    Ah.....  Bummer!

Cool that your initial scouting efforts paid off!   No single right/wrong answer regarding whether to continue to focus your scouting on the area you have already identified or to look for a backup.  Maybe both?   Check-in on that area for a couple of hours and see if you can turn those deer up again.  Also maybe try to ID any water they may be hitting in proximity to where you saw them.  Then after you've spent a couple of hours on that area, possibly spend a couple of hours looking at new country?

    Good luck to your son!

    Thank you.

Hmmm......   Interesting.  Good catch!  (Strange that there are NO deer camps listed on their site...)

Anyone planning on it should confirm with AZG&F and/or YOU prior, I suppose.

Yes, really weird. My sons are already signed up for their predator/small game hunt in November.

  11. As soon as the law passed I gave my cameras to my cousin for his property in Seligman to record

the thieves. Even took down the one that was in our neighborhood on a local wash. Guesswork out

    of the equation,...check.

That being said, I don't think the AZGFD has any real legal authority to stop anyone from putting out

the cameras on their own property.

I'm waiting for them to catch one of the big outfitter companies that caused all this in the first place.

No way they are all stopping cold turkey. To much money involved. Better keep them lips sealed , fellas.

  12. I've enjoyed all of your stories and photos here in the youth hunter section. I've shown them to my 11 year old son too.

I'm curious as to what ML rifle and load he was using, if you don't mind answering?  Because I put my 11 year old

(currently 95 lbs) in for ML deer hunt this year. But that's the only hunting rifle he doesn't have yet.

He got drawn for rifle deer and elk instead though, so we do have some time yet. Just curious.
