jeepers creepers replied to longshooter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
S&W Gunsmithing has been great for me. He's at 6750 W. Olive, on the back side of the strip mall. 623-486-5040 I don't think he's open on Mondays though. -

Does anyone have any thoughts on the .300WSM? I may have an opportunity to purchase a Winchester model 70 in .300WSM from a friend. Just curious on any thoughts. Thanks.

jeepers creepers replied to jeepers creepers's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thanks for all the great info! Bottom line I did it, I bought the gun today. It's a Winchester 70 Ultimate Shadow camo with a Nikon camo scope. NEVER been fired. Hope it turns out to be the "ultimate gun" for me. -

I personally don't believe in setting up anything prior to a hunt just to save a spot. But it always doesn't bother me that much, to get all upset or pissed off about it. Its just like kids saving spots in the lunch line. Some of them are to lazy or impatience to wait themselves. I can tell ya, GET USE TO IT, it happens quite frequently now days. Always try to find a spot way out in the middle of nowhere, away from the campers and trailers.

I, too, forgot my cow elk tag about two years. LEFT IT AT HOME!! I had to call the wife, who was NOT very happy about bringing it up to me, 2 1/2 hours away. OOPS I won't do that again!

I use the same.

Does the moon phases' actually affect the deer? How would it?

Squirrel hunting fun!
jeepers creepers replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I also did some squirrel hunting this past weekend, in between my attempt to find a turkey. As you can guess I did better at the squirrel than I did at the turkey. Boy them little guys sure do taste pretty good after a somber day in the field. -
Quail Season!!!!
jeepers creepers replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I went out by Morristown, and there wasn't much happening. The desert seemed to dead and extremely DRY! Very small coveys, around 7 to 8. I'll need to find an area with water near by to do any good. I think this year for any desert Gambles may be tough to come by. -
I was wondering how many people process their own deer or take it in to a butcher? Do you know of any butchers around Globe?

Do deer "have to" drink everyday? A friend of mine said they can go 3 to 4 days without water, could this be true?
