Bucks_N_Yotes replied to Bucks_N_Yotes's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Maybe I should find one of them guys that can give me a new ID so I can go elk hunting. Should of thought of that before I gave the tag back to that guy that lost it -
Bought a new Badlands 2200 Pack today. Was starting to put things inside of it and found a hunting license, and an archery 6A tag for Sept 11th His name is Christoper F. and he lives in Glendale Az. If anyone knows who this guy is, I am sure he is looking for his tag and going to he headed back to Cabelas in search of that lucky pack thats at my house!

What's Up With The Signs

You better belive it! We are not just going to let some jack thats up to no good on our property. I also have everyone that has permission sign a waiver. About 6 years ago, I had a guy file a lawsuit agianst us because he drove into a canal with his truck. Its your property and you are giving access to those who follow the rules. If I just let anyone on our property, which I did at first, things got way out of control. I had guys driving in fields, others that thought it was ok to be out a night shooting things, people leaving their crap behind and just a bunch of other crap that the landowner shouldn't have to put up with. I would say 9 times out of 10 I give people permision to hunt. When I know I have too many people out hunting, like during dove season, I tell them sorry, next year contact me sooner. You get too many people hunting and it becomes very unsafe. Their is also nothing like working on a peace of equipment and being showered with buckshot! I am sorry that you don't like the fact that GF puts out the signs and we can say who comes on or not. If it was your property, we have over 10k acres, you take pride in what it looks like and how its maintained. At least we are giving people the opertunity to hunt on our place. Most landowners out here will not give you the time of day! If you were to see how clean, neat and organized my opperation is I think you would have a different view on this. Like I said earlier, it takes on guy to screw things up for the rest of us, and if I had to give everyone access, I would pull the signs today and not let anyone in! You wouldn't let people just have free acess to your back yard would you? -

What's Up With The Signs

There is no shooting inside the city limits! However, what most people don't know it that there are County Islands inside of the city limits that you can shoot. Nine times out of 10 you will sill have the cops called on you but there is nothing they can do if your inside on one of the islands! There are still silos standing in different areas. Oh and to give you an idea of how jacked up the town is, there are two differnt fire departments, one for the city, and one for the surounding areas. They never get along and always argue over who's call it was! Back to the signs! If You were given access because you had a hunting licesne on posted property that was apart of the Ranch Access Program, I would jurk my signs today and shut the whole thing down! -

I am not an expert on this but I believe that as long as its not posted their is not alot the land owner can do. Its just common courtesy to try to find out who owns the land and get permission. Their is nothing I like more than to have someone ask first before they enter. They may just want to be out to shoot some yotes, and maybe I don't want them to, or anything simular. The bond that you build with that hunter is great from our view because it acts as another set of eyes when we are not there! I know if its properly posted, you should see signs every 1/4 mile or signs at the 1/4 mile on the corners and Orange stakes painted on three sides a 1/4 mile in between the signs. Knowing the rules and just taking a minute to talk to someone could make a huge difference in where you hunt from years to come. I can say that on my property I have times of the year that I do not let people on to hunt. There is nothing worse than a truck or atv hitting the dirt roads after a rain. It will get you tossed out before you know it! Ben -

Here is a link to the signs http://www.azgfd.gov/outdoor_recreation/LandownerSigns.shtml Mine read a little different, stating you must obtain written permision, which is a dated pass and waiver, but other than that its the same. Oh and our name is on it. -

I must say that I have about 26 of these signs around my property. My phone number is on them and people do call from time to time to gain acess. This time of year, it rings of the hook with all the dove hunters wanting a place to go. We put the signs up working with GF to control the BS of the Cali people coming out and tearing things up, leaving trash all over the place, shooting towards you when you drive up on them. The people that take the time to call, meet with you are the ones that you want on the property or would consider letting hunt. The Jacks that don't give a rip about anything keep wrecking the program for those who follow the rules. Most of the area landowners in the area will not let anyone hunt and run people off. The nice thing about the Ranch Acess program is it really establishes where you can and can not go as long as you have permision. If I think of it I will post a photo of one of our signs when I have time. Ohh and I do have my areas gated with locks! They have a combo that changes about every couple of weeks! -
I know that this has gone a little cold, but.......I just had a guy wearing camo pants and a sportsmans wearhouse tee ring the door bell! I looked threw the peep hole figured, a hunter whats the harm! Hde said " Sorry Benjamin" My smart thinging told me to say "Sorry, I think you have the wrong house!" and closed the door. So do you think I made the right move? Or is this going to be the way it is for a while? The Photo Radar Ticket was taken in May. I saved it for a laugh on a rainy day. Think I am just under the 120 day mark, so hopfully just a couple more days and I am home free! At least the photo of me you can't tell who is driving! Thanks, Ben

I use Trophy Blend Scents. It comes in the form of a deorderant stick, so no mess and you can wipe it on anything, pack it in any pack and have any scent you could ever want for hunting in AZ. They have alot of scents to choose from. I think its worth the money! http://www.trophyblend.com/products.php?p=1 Any questions about it, send me a PM

I my experence, once your centered at 25yds it usually hits the same at 100yds, saving alot of time and money. I try and mark out 25 yds at the house using the same method as Doug and always end up inside the target at 25yds. I would have do disagree with going to Sportsmans! Last two I had them mount, ended up cantered and wouldn't hit paper at 100yds! I ended up remounting the scope and using the method that Doug stated with no problems. If you have the money buy the laser bore sight chamberd for your gun. Its a great way to get things lined up and check things in the field before the hunt. If you do get one, buy the one that you can use on different guns by adding the outer adapter case to the .223 base. Its really easy to change from one caliber to the other. Ben

Make sure you use good batteries. The cheap 6V don't last very long!

Predator Hunting - After the Kill
Bucks_N_Yotes replied to PhxHunt's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Thats not the right link. They have a local chapter here in AZ in the Phoenix area. PVCI will know how to get a hold of them. Get in contact with Rich Higgens, the president of the club. He will know how to get a hold of them. Rapters Inc used to come to the PVCI monthly check in to collect the coyotes. Not sure if they still do. You also might be able to contact AZGFD for their number. -

Raptors Inc. will take them as long as they are not shot with lead! Otherwise leave them lay and feed the other critters out and about! -
This stuff will go great in the Man Cave!
