Thanks for the, "Welcome." And yes I am new to the site but not the sport. Part of the reason I joined is for input on problems such as these in the field. I'm outspoken about things I believe in and thus may not be very popular (Oh well). But if you want an honest oppinion on something I'll give it! And I'm sure most of you are friends, may take me a while to figure out what is serious and what is fun. But, I'll join in when I can and when I figure out how to use the site. Taken with a grain of salt, I'm not trying to piss anyone off. Look forward to the talks Seth -

Just joined the site and excited to be part of it. I've never heard a truer nickname than Gray Ghost (refering to Coues). Love how the little buggers can dissapear even though your looking right at them. I just took the GHOST part and I obviously LUV hunting them. Don't know why I did it all in CAPS though. See no one else does that. But there it is! And the names Seth for those of you hinting that you may know who I am. -
Guys, according to G&F, you can buy your child a license and apply for big game permits before they turn 10. However, if drawn they must complete the safety course and be 10 years of age when they graduate. Hopefully they pass and are able to use the tag. I'm in the same shoes next year with my daughter (10 in July, application deadlines in June!!).

Seemes like the guy did his homework! It's a little concerning that he posts photos for us to enjoy, and because its an, "easily recognizable spot," hunters threaten to compete. If I were him I'd start excercising so I was in shape for the opening weekend foot race. THAT SUCKS!!!! -

It was just a little friendly advise because I feel it's a serious problem thats going to get an honest outdoorsman hurt. But good luck to you as your raiding their gardens for your GREEN CAFFEINE!!! And yes, "LOL." -
Thanks for the post. It's refreshing to see someone excited about the experience rather than the size of the animal harvested! This is obviously a trophy in his book!!!! CONGRATS.

Geoff, congratulation on a great hunt. Just joined the forum and may not be real popular for this reason, "I don't give a @#$% about score!!!" Don't downsize your bear. If you were happy with him he scores a 100% in your's and my book. On the same token, I haven't read the story on "Firstcoues," lion, but any lion is a great lion as they are wreckin havok on our wildlife populations since trapping has been outlawed. In short, if your happy with your trophy, "BRAG TO BEAT ALL!!!" LUVR I am sorry for starting 2 post this way But Right up front something gave me a feeling about you In the few post you have made you remind me of someone I'm not sure but I think he HUNTS2 Do you like to consume your game more than looking for the beast? Ya I thought though Don't take me to serious, I just like to have Amanda wonder what I might say next Mike Dont't worry about it Mike. I have thick skin! Makes the converstion interesting. To answere your question, I hunt for and enjoy harvesting a, "Bomber," like anyone else. However, I just think the emphasis on size has overwhelmed the hunting community. I'm not a novice!!!! I've taken nice bucks (Score not to be mentioned to validate my personal profile). I've taken good bucks both with a bow and a rifle. And yes, I'm an avid hunter hoping for the buck of a lifetime! "I may have taken some in your book!" Also, I have had tags unfilled, both elk and whitetail, in the hope for something bigger. I just think a person should show respect to the animal that has died at his hands, rather than the opinion his peers may have about that animal.

Guys, keep this in mind. In the north country especially in gila county, there is a serious problem involving marijuana gardens. There were 24 eradicated last summer involving one shooting. These guys cover an incredible amount of country looking for a suitable place to plant. More often than not the location is around a small spring (locations we love for whitetails!). There's no doubt they come across our game cameras. Not wanting to be discovered, I can imagine they would destroy or steal the cameras to eliminate evidence. Sure there are some inethical hunter out there, but I would hope these incidents could be attributed to another sorce. With that in mind, if you come in contact with anything suspicious in the, "whitetail haunts," contact the police and report it!!! -
Sorry Mike. That seems common in the girls and women. My wife and daughter can do the same. I think they control their excitement at the crucial moment better then us. Good luck. And remember, MEMORIES SCORE HIGHER THAN INCHES!!!

It cost under $400 and the only place I have found that carries them is the outdoorsmans. http://www.vortexoptics.com/spotting_scope...d_straight_60mm Sorry about my previous post. New and didn't read all the posts before commenting on a product I was unhappy about. I see you traded for the Vortex. I know Vortex warranties their product better than most despite the cost. The outdoorsman staff speaks highly of the line. Hope your happy with your switch!!!! By the way, why where you unhappy?

Mike The 7mm-08 is enough gun to kill a mature bull elk using the 140 Gr. NBT. It retains enough kinetic energy (+1000 foot pounds) past 300 yards. Reference your doubt about your girls shot placement, the 7mm-08 would be less likely to cause her to flinch. If they start flinching, no telling where the bullet will go!!!!

I am new to this forum but excited to be a part of it. I have owned the Windriver Sequoia spotting scope for two years. I am sorry to say that I am dissapointed with it. I was excited about this product as i like the windriver line of binoculars. This scope i'm sorry to say is worthless after about 30 power. Heatwaves and focusing become a serious problem. I have called the manufacturer thinking the scope was defective. I was told that this is common at the higher power. I say, "Bull!!!" My brother-in-law bought the same scope knowing that I had done my homework. He is upset as well, same problem! I know this is post-purchase for you and sorry if it takes the wind out of your sails. But let me know if you scope has the same problem.
