Buckhunter

Well opening weekend was quite exciting. My brother and a friend of ours, and I saw lots of big deer and elk. My brother Jeff put the smack down on his first Utah buck later in the morning. The next day I was feeling under the weather. I ended up coming down with some kind of respatory infection. So I was in no hunting shape. My lungs hurt bad. So we packed up and went home. The following week I sent my wife and kids to Indiana for eight days and went to work. I had 4 days off so I through my gear in and made a bee-line to Utah. I was felling good. I got their and I only saw 3 hunters on the whole mountain. Next morning I got up to a trail in a new area and saw lots of does. I had a good feeling something was gong to happen. I got abot 150 yards from the truck sneeking trough the aspens on a cow trail and saw a doe lying down. I started to get my camera out when she stood up and was looking to her right. Throught the trees I could see horns. The buck stood up and was facing me at 25 yards. I knocked and arrow and slowly drew back. I only had a 3 to 4 inch gap between the trees to shoot throught. Well my arrow flew true and blasted right throught the chest. As he ran past me at 20 yards with the fletching sticking out I knew he was mine. He ran aout 80 yards down hill I went to my truck and got my pack frame and got him to the truck in 10 mins. Not a big buck but a good way to start off te season. I'm now 3 for 3 in Utah.

Fishing was good to. I caught 5 trought in about 45 mins

I called the phone line and it lets me get right upto the results then it says "were are experiencing tech diff. at this time try again later". What a bummer.

Hey Mine got rippped last week, At least you have a pic of them. If thats the only humans in their on your buddy's cam, blow the pics up and post them around the trail or where you would park to get in the area. More than likely they will be back soon. Hunting in your spot that you put the time into scouting.Maybe put them on this site and what unit this happened in. I get so dang mad at thieves, What were their parents like?

Well some butt$%&$* stole my good Moultrie cam within the last few days. on a good spot with lots of activity. I had a feeling it was going to be gone when I walked up to the tree. I was planning on leaving it up 1 more week. BUt some jerk beat me to it. So if you hear someone talking about a cam in 23 getting ripped its mine. But in reality I'll never hear about it or see it again. The jerk will put it up some other place. My brother told me a "Karma is a bad thing to mess with." He'll get his someday. Oh well just 175 bucks gone in the wind. "Thanks jerk!"

Checked my cams and got some bucks that need to be looked after for archery season. My brother and I split up and he put out 2 cams about a mile from mine. He did some glassing and spotted 2 bears, 7 elk, a fox, and saw a pair of coyotes from the road. I glassed up one buck and 2 does.

Game and Fish was hot after the trail. My brother saw a GFD truck driving the main road like a bat out of heck looking for something or someone. I heard gunshots while I was hiking in.

Sold today to buy diapers for tomorrow. Yeah!!

To bad the camera wasn't hooked up to some electrodes! get them fired up maybe send them back the way they came. Or maybe some sirens with flashing lights

Went to check some cams and Had a fun day even though it was a hot day. I got in a good hike-work out in prep for Utah bow season. Saw an old Bighorn Ewe. The not so lucky pig got whacked right in front of me and the person never stop to look at the damage on his truck.

I got unit 22 Kudu muzzy tag and Archery Squirrel off the super raffle!

went out to set up one more cam and check my others. Glassed up a nice bear with my binos at about 815 am. got a pic of him at about 400 yards.
