I got to hike the Grand Canyon!
azpackhorse replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
That looks like a gob of fun, I have always wanted to do it! Thanks for sharing your adventure. -
Great buck! congrats.

Saw no real sign of rut in 36C. Matt, I was talking to the BP at the road block and he said he talked to a hunter who killed a lion down by MP 8 on Saturday. Was that your buddy?
-
Don't forget to fill out the mandatory survey from this year if you had a tag, they say that if you don't you will be excluded from the 2007 draw.
-
I will be in 36C as well helping a friend. Good luck to all you lucky December tag holders.

What do you all think this buck would score? And what would you do if you found him dead in this condition? Not what the law says to do but what YOU would do......................fire away ethics police! This buck had been dead for a few days and had his back end eaten off.

Nice Coues buck

The buck was not in the Reddington Pass area. If there had not been a hunt going on and it looked to be suspicious I would've called Game and Fish. I have called Game and Fish before when I found a Mule deer buck and they responded very quickly, the officer was very polite and a pleasure to deal with. I personally have not had any problems with Game and Fish officers........because I also obey the laws. -

Nice Coues buck

His hair had been pulled out from critters eating him, I beleive he had been shot and not recovered,it was the last weekend of the November hunt. No roads very close and the ones that are closest are bad so I don't think you could go fast enough to do any damage...........other than to your truck. He was in a deep bottom of a wash where he would've been hard to see. There was no one camped close and no one around so asking someone if they lost a buck was out of the question. I did not measure him but guess him right around 90" (he smelled real bad) I did not take the head either nor did I call Game and Fish. I wasn't going to wait there for an officer to come, I didn't have my GPS on me, it would be difficult to give directions, and most of all I really didn't think it would matter. I did not originally find the buck but did take a trip out there to check him out. When I seen him he was really torn up by scavengers but his head was still there, I will most likely be back in this country this month and will see if I can find him. I really don't want to get caught with a semi-fresh head in my truck. -
Nice Coues buck

There had been a hunt going on in the area so I can only assume that it was not poached. -

I have two, I have only seen maybe 3 others, mine is on my white '05 Dakota. When I got my first one there was an add for them on the back of the Hunt regs. I kinda used to be a hippie............being from Oregon and all And I really love animals.....fried,bbq'd, etc...... -
The Whirling Woodpecker is supposed to work good, never tried it myself. If you are hunting where there are turkeys then a hen decoy works good, my buddy had a coyote come in at mach 4 and knock his decoy over, then promptly left at mach 5. I have been wanting to make my own decoy with real rabbit skin and some kind of motorized kid toy but just haven't done it yet. Casey, you just concentrate on hitting the yotes, I don't like seeing them get away..................................don't worry, I'll shoot back up with the .300 win mag.
-
The best way to get them in bow range is to use a decoy that will take the attention off of you, that way it's a little easier to draw. I haven't shot one with archery equipt. yet but I haven't really tried either. The coyote in the photo was around 100yds but I have had them from 5ft on out to 300yds. I really like to shoot them at distance but it is awesome when they come in like gangbusters and are on top of you before you know it!

This is prime time for calling Yotes, I got this one to come in down in 36C (cuz I was wearing my lucky CWT.com hat) I was using a prototype call this feller made down in Texas so we took some photos of some of the yotes I shot while using his call ( The Twisted Critter by CuttDown calls). He ended up using another photo I sent him but this one is my favorite (cuz I'm wearing my lucky CWT.com hat )

They also make great gifts, I like to take my unfilled tags and sneak up on one of my buddies with the backing removed and quickly wrap the tag around their arm (this works best on guys with really hairy arms). It was extremely difficult to part with my UNused archery Antelope tag this year knowing full well that I may never see another Arizona Antelope tag ...............my son got that one.................he's got real hairy arms -
Guess the score?

Happy B-day More D, I would've guessed you older then 1 Dude, you're gonna be like 20 feet tall and 5000lbs when you grow up!
-
I am getting close to building an AR-15 just for Coyotes, perhaps that's what you need Casey I'm gonna try out my new Benelli this weekend, got some 3 1/2" 00 buck loads for it, I am really anxious to torch a yote at 30 or 40 yards with that load!
-
I'm in! Calling yotes is a very close 2nd place to Hunting Coues for me!

Talk about some low life's
azpackhorse replied to desertsheep's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
That is a generous offer phx hunter, For the life of me I just can't figure out why people can't just leave stuff that aint theirs alone, I have had similiar things happen to me and after the last fiasco down at the courthouse with the scumbags "I" caught with my truck I would be hard pressed not to take things into my own "courthouse". I hope they can recover their stuff. -
