that is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.. jason -
It used to be 50ft. but it was just too expensive for ranchers, to post all of those signs... jason So did the law change, or did people just quit abiding by it because it was cost prohibitive? They changed the law...

I think it is because he didn't break any game laws because he had a tag. Remember the landowner doesn't own the deer the state does. So it is a trespassing issue... It is loophole but I guess it makes sense.

Factory or Handloaded Ammo?
jamaro replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Just an FYI... I have been emailing back and forth with Walt Berger of Berger bullets and I told him I was trying to get a 175 grain load to shoot well in my .300 win mag for coues deer and he pretty much said I would be MUCH better off with the 155 grain bullets because I will get better bullet performance. Then I asked him if the 175 would be a better choice for elk.... His answer.. "No". take care. jason -
awesome... great job. jason

Hey Bud... Personally, I don't think there is a better way to kill deer. With setting up stands you do your work before the season, for the most part when you spot and stalk you do your work during the season. Personally, I think people should find a method that they are familiar with and that they are good at and stick with it. Jason

any news?????? jason

Did you guys see what Dutch Salmon is saying about the wolves in NM and Elk? He is saying that they have no impact on populations and that COUES deer are there traditional primary food source.... If that was the case then why didn't they put them in more Couesy Habitat??? What a joke... Sorry but this really chaps my rear.. Look on my website about half-way down for the link to his statements... Wolf Article J-

No problem.... But thank them not me... I will admit I am not the best shot in the world but I really think my shooting gets better when I shot with others... try to make the 3-d shoot or just find some buddies to shoot with... Where do you live? jason

the best solution for all issues surrounding game processing is simple. kill the animal cleanly, field dress carefully and right away, wash the carcass and remove any hair that might have gotten on the meat during skinning, protect the carcass from insects and allow it to cool. the one most important point everyone is missing is we have no control over the animal until it is in our facility. prior to that it's all in your hands. take care of it. thank you larry Okay so it seems that we will not be able to get a direct answer. no big deal... It must be an industry secret or something... When I have animals processed I always pay by the out-the-door weight... That way the hunter knows that it is in the processors best interest to save as much meat as possible... BUT the bottom line is the best solution is to do it yourself.... Good Luck J-

I am not trying to push the issue but an estimate is just that... an estimate, how much would you estimate the average hide to weighs? what about the head? How much would you say the bones weigh in a quarter? Hunters are going to ask.... It only makes sense to have some sort of idea of how much meat they are going to get otherwise you are always going to end up in the scenario. Even is you estimate say 200 pounds they take 40 pounds off for error... If they get more than fine, but at least you have explained to them what they go and why they got it. You are asking hunters to "trust you" and they don't have any clue if they can trust you or not... Jason

Maybe you could come up with ball park figures... I am sure that you understand that hunters give everything they have to harvest animals and by the time everything is said and done the meat that they get cost $20 + a pound... Maybe if you started this year by weighing as they come in they determining about how much meat goes out the door then hunters will have a better understanding.. Give yourself some leeway but I think hunters would really appreciate some sort of guesstimate. j-
