My Biggest Archery Mule Deer Yet
jonscaife replied to CouesSlayer's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
not the biggest? ha! you're so humble. one like that with a bow is for the wall man. -
that first one's a real toad
-
if your looking for a 375inch trophy bull you can start putting in for unit 9 early hun now and you MIGHT draw a tag before you are no longer able to see. otherwise any cow tag would be a good option. anywhere they give tags there are elk, some units more than others, but regardless do some scouting to locate a couple diffrent groups. for bull i like 8, same genetics as 9 and 10 but better draw odds.
-
if you dont like the otc elk tags, dont buy one. and buy the way some guys my brother knows took a cow and a decent bull in the verde hunt area.
-
post some pics and prices. i would definetly be intrested.
-
get the swaros bro. they are by far the best glass avaliable and they will cover anything you can do to them as long as you have them. it's an investment.
-
daggum it! ya hate to see that happen.
-
nice!!! just curious, how much did that run you to get done?
-
this is the kind of stuff that makes honest and ethical hunters look bad. i can only imagine how all the anti-hunting freaks are gonna react. these guys are a bunch of retards and should be drug behind a truck.
-
i always use sportsmans when it comes down to the big box stores. but when it comes down to service you just can't beat the localy owned and operated small town stores. i always take my buisness to p.v. archery in prescott valley (hence the p.v.) those guys are awsome and alway quick to offer their advice.

looks like a find from the same buck, but maybe a year between? great find. (i'm jealous)

never found a coues skull but found a javalina skull on my last hunt in 21. also found a big 4x6 mulie skull while out quail hunting in 19b. i looks to me to have had half its face bitten off. tried to post a pic of it but i'm not exactly sure how.

i'm new to bow hunting and was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to hunt mulies during the upcoming dec. archery season. spot and stock? tree stand? water holes? still hunt? i'm just wondering what kind of success any of you more experianced hunters might have for some one just starting out with a bow. any info at all would help.

just read the article last night. lions do alot more damage to the deer population than i thought. what really stuck out to me though is the differance between a lion where there are few coyotes and a lion where there are an abundance of coyotes. it said something like an average lion will make about one kill every week but when a group of coyotes comes in after the kill it forces the lion to make another kill, so it ups that average from one a week to one and a half or three every two weeks. this concerns me as a mule deer hunter. something needs to be done. but what? anyway its a great article that anyone who hunt any deer in this state needs to read.

Holy crap! you should tell me where you found that.

once when i was fishing goldwater lake, just south of prescott, i saw a coyote chasing a 3x3 mulie. the mulie jumped in the lake and started swiming across the main part of the lake. the coyote jumped in after him. some teenage boys saw this as well, jumped in there canoe, paddled to the coyote and started hiting him with there paddles until some old guy yelled at them to stop. it was pretty cool.

cool thanx, i will scout it out and hopefully see some thing huge. i know there are huge elk in this area but they are few and far between.

wondering if anyone had any info on where to hunt elk in the 17's or 19b? any info would help, thanx!
