Leica Douvid 10+15x50... Who has used them?
cramerhunts replied to DesertDweller's topic in Optics and tripods
I have a pair of them and wouldn't ever consider anything else, but I also have friends that prefer the swarvos. All about preference but I love the flexibility of them. I use them on the 10 power while on the tripod quite abit and then switch to the 15 power to get more detail when needed. Phil -
Woooooooooow.......I'm certainly impressed with your memory. Mine blows.............too many dead brain cells. I've been in a rehab facility for several years in an attempt to cure my hunting forum addiction. This is my first relapse.............somebody please help me.......... Is Lark still around these parts??? Lark ????? Yep Lark is still around just give him time and he'll pop up.....kinda like you. Phil

Well I finally got a chance to load up the family and spend a few days out looking for some bone. We got to our camp spot late in the day so we got set up and enjoyed a nice night around the camp fire. We got up early the next morning and started looking around. It was a little cool for my girls so we left the prowler in camp and trucked it most of the day making short walks where we thought we would have some luck. The first day came and went but the little ones were plenty happy with their first horn. The next couple of days were kind of slow but still nice to be out with the family. And then yesterday right before we started back to load up we came upon these unique sheds. They are half velvet and half hard horned, underneath the velvet they feel quite solid. I've never seen this before and was wondering if anyone has? Anyway it was a great trip and I can't wait to get back out there! Phil

Awesome finds! You just gotta love this time of year! Phil

Thanks for the kind words Chef and AZP&Y. I agree with Ernesto on Scott's posts, he is the main reason that I started trying to take the time to capture the hunt because I enjoyed his posts so much. Phil

Awesome job guys! Great looking cat and great pictures! Phil

Tyson they are about what you would expect weight wise from a normal set of horns similar in size. Coues Sniper I think you might be right on. What happened to the velvet on the set of sheds that you had seen? Did it dry up, rot, or stay the same? Phil

Very nice pictures and incredible sheds! Thanks for posting them. Phil -
Good looking pictures for your first time out. I believe that's an elk in the last picture. On your "white out" make sure that your camera is pointing north/south as much as possible. The second is my favorite as well! Phil

Awesome job Josh! I have to wait until some of the family things are wrapped up on Saturday but then I'm off for the hills for three or four days so we'll see what I can find. Good luck when you get back out there. Phil
