Dad Bagged A TOAD (Update-123 4/8)
cjw2222 replied to cjw2222's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Who leaked it to you it was supposed to be classified information until tomorrow! But in all honesty fantastic guess you nailed it 100% somehow. The scorer looked up the score and said it was either 16 or 17 depending on another pending non-typical for all time SCI right now. Needless to say im pretty darn excited. Official score was in fact 123 4/8 and is classified as a 8x9 by the scorer which includes eyeguards. -

My thoughts and prayers are with the Bool Family as well as the family of the lady. A tragedy that helps me enjoy every day. The story is a great one to read, seems like he was a great hunter who cared for the lifestyle and respected the animals. A great deer went to an even greater man. -
hopefully i will be there. if so ill be wearin my CW shirt so everyone look out for a scruffy long haired kid in a gold coues shirt ;)

wow incredible deer. and i never knew thats how you keep the velvet looking still alive. i could only imagine how cool it must be to tag one such as that while still in the velvet...

I really hope they dont do it. There only viable arguments are that they will be brought back to their natural territory and they will provide food for owls, eagles, etc. It is noted that the extermination of these creatures was from extensive poisoning. My first thought is those people poisoning them, whether its ethically right is your opinion, werent doing it for fun. they were spending hard earned dollars and much time to getting rid of these things. So if they wanted em out so bad i gotta conclude that they were not doing a whole lot of good for the area. Just my .02 dollars...

haha the last question made me laugh. but im surprised 25% would throw it in the truck...

Great pictures. have to ask one question... are you digiscoping or using a camera through the binoculars or just a large telephoto? -
So ive got it in emails and now reading about it on different forums. My question is does anyone have any more info on this 540" palmated monster? I have heard it was taken on a high fenced ranch in CO and he paid 127,000 to hunt the bull. if anybody has yet to see it and wants to i have 3 pictures i could potentially email you if you PM me... In no way am i trying to start an argument on the ethics of high fenced hunting mainly because i feel its ridiculous. but that does not negate that fact that this bull has me very interested.

I would chalk another up for the Zeiss 85mm although the Swaro 80 is extremely close. Personally i would save the extra $ and get the 80, it'll come in handy when you need it the most. I look forward to Youngunter's opinion on this and his Sawro 80 HD that he lugs around

Those eyeguards are KILLER! dang im jealous

Its more of a printed report you can buy for a "reasonable price." you have to go request it and sign some forms. basically you can view it because its public records buy they dont want to show it to everyone. im goin in today to see if i can pick one up. i believe its aroud 25 dollars for the antelope and elk info
-
If your thinkin about outdoorsmans i would say buy them now and save $ in the long run. I saved up for months to buy it and couldnt be happier with it and my choice to wait and get the best. you got the best glass might as well get a matching tripod IMHO.

Wow that was a great writeup with a great ending. Congrats on killing an absolute monster and even more congrats for earning every inch on those antlers. I wouldnt mind seein some close ups of those brow tines. hard to make them out in the pictures
-
hahahaha quote of the month right there. im still on the floor laughin
-
Just goes to show how amazing they are. most of us cant kill that with binoculars and weapons that shoot 500 yards let alone with our hands and teeth. Doesnt seem fair to me
-
Yeah i saw those pics a while back. I never did hear a score, although i was told Colorado as well. Definitely a ranch/high fence bull - for whatever reason they always seem to have pale antlers and rarely rub all their velvet off. Thanks for the pics though Ya i remember hearing it has something to do with the hormones or steroids they are fed. the outer portions of the antlers turn almost a chalk white and pretty much die early and the inner portions never full rub off the velvet. pretty disgusting how much they can alter the genetics of these animals.

WOW! The attention to detail is incredible. definitely far over my head but i can surely appreciate it. The mesquite really sets it off too. Congrats on a great project, now when can i have one -
Sent out all the emails And i ran a diagnostic check on the pics and turns out they were taken, from my figuring, on August 23 of 2006 so they probably are. guess im just a little slow...

Well word on the dirt road is its just some units. I have heard and read various places that it is not all but rather some. i remember something around 10 or so units but maybe someone can chime in with some better information. but thanks for the link, always enjoy reading about our G&F even when i dont agree with them...
