    First hunt(s)

That is if you can get Black Death out of the truck in time!!! Know what I'm talking about right? Yes I do. The next time were in such a situation and the tables are turned, I'll just stick my pistol out the side of the window and touch one off and see how fast you move as well.
  2. Need a spotter? TJ I'll work the camera! Hahaha of course, to kill a buck like that, you need all the help you can get and it would be great to have on camera !!! I'd still kill the buck first...........but on the way back well you get my drift. Hey JLG, I've only been up here 2 months or so now. I haven't been out that way to shoot yet, though I'm always looking for a good spot to sling some lead.

    First hunt(s)

I was fortunate enough to grow up on a ranch, smack dab in the middle of 6A and 6B. I think I got my first .22 when I was 7, in a matter of months you had to head at least 2 miles away from the ranch to find a rabbit or tweety bird. In the fall when my Dad was done with roundup and had everything situated he would (and still does occasionally) guide for Jarred Nichols and whoever else we knew that had an elk tag. Some of my best memories are tagging along on hunts with dad. His deal was that as long as I had good grades in school I could go hunting and we faithfully kept our parts. I killed my first buck a 5X4 carp in unit 10 on a jrs. only hunt when I was 10. I don't recall the amount used but I do know ammo stocks soared after that hunt. I killed my first bull elk in 6A when I was 12. He scored 353 and took two days to pack out with horses. To this day you won't catch me without a flashlight and at least 16 extra batteries. He ultimately got me hooked on whiteys in 6A as well. To this day I have yet to kill a buck in 6A. Although theres a handful that now can correctly identify what a .270 sounds like hitting within 3 feet in any direction of them. I finally killed my first whitey in 35A a few years ago and have been on fire in that unit ever since, my .270 (Black Death) has been as well. The last 3 times its been in the unit, it hasn't missed. Thanks Skyhawk for starting this thread, its great to see where everyone got there start at.
  4. Dude, You live in Sonoita and yer going to Buckeye just to shoot some wabbits...Right on Hahaha good call. I guess it's time to change that. Would I drive that far to shoot wabbits........probably. Heck I'd crawl across a half acre of naked ladies to shoot a 100 inch whitetail.
  5. Thats it. Anyone near Buckeye that wants to go let out some "I Can't friggin wait anymore" Game and Fish aggression on some unsuspecting Jack Rabbits and whatever else moves, feel free to PM me in the next 7.23 minutes. Time to let some lead fly. Have a good evening folks. Wammytime.

This one rides the Short Bus....

Maybe you can use your trail cam to get some good pictures of giving whoever took you camera a good ol fashioned passionate smackdown. I hate thieves. Some guys that we check there farms at work busted a guy on thursday that stole a loader somewhere in Buckeye, drove it through sentinel where they went on a copper wire stealing rampage and finally ran it out of diesel in the Harquahalla valley. I missed it but I guess the officer gave a him a pretty good landing when he cuffed him. It was the middle of the day and this guy was all cracked out and hot, so they made sure to drink plenty of water in front of the dude. I thought it was excellent.

    Life Span of the USA

Finally got a chance to read that article. Thanks for putting it up. Thats a good question about the farm subsidies. I read the other day that of the 280 billion dollar farm bill, roughly 13% actually goes to farmers. The rest is delegated towards food stamps, welfare and various other programs. Something that I noticed in the article and a lot of articles lately is how they say commodities are at record prices. In my opinion the general public automatically assumes that means they are making record profits as well, however I don't think people realize the cost of inputs has more then doubled and in some cases tripled or more lately. Yes prices are high, however profit margins are the same or smaller. Obviously not the case with every farmer though. I'm also very capable of going on random tangents haha. I really can't get over those 8 steps and how accurate I think they are, especially if you start looking at American history. You can almost see a timeline that associates itself to those degrees. Anyways thanks for the article.

Help name my new hunting buddy!

Jake is a horrible name for a dog... Unless of course you really like The Pirates of the Mississippi... and that old "feed Jake he's been a good dog song" (Which for the record I absolutely abhor Haha.) How about Crotus.... as in the Greek god who created the bow.

    NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Are you kidding me, really? I'm pretty sure they are the same across the board. However, being a Wildcat through and through, people wonder how I can watch asu play sports. Honestly I like to see Az schools dominate the Pac-10 and to see Pac-10 schools dominate everyone else. However I don't get all fired up in the rivalry and when I meet someone who went to asu, I generally try and treat them with respect and if they were courteous and kept my tea glass full, I will make sure to leave them a solid 18% tip.

    Distance?

+1.... CC..... +1!!! Well said. BTW.... You hold your booze better than I do, cuz I was stone blind and passed out by like 10:30!! Buying that Ranger and installing a killer stereo system in it has turned me into a guy name, Al Coholic! Jimbo, I know what you meant and agree with what you said 100%!! I'd bet, we have all been too eager to "win" atleast once in our hunting careers... and it should be our goal to fight it within ourselves, whether we are carrying a Bow, a Rifle, or even when guiding someone else. CnS Hey CnS thanks. Apparently I didn't hold it very well haha after looking at a few very erroneous statements made by my evil twin!!! Jimbo, how appropriate you would recall that we met at the bar (steakhouse) in Sonoita on this very topic. I believe you were with Jason Scott and two others who I don't recall names of, but you guys had had a heck of a weekend, and I had just helped my buddy kill his first buck ever. Friday nights evil doings where at the hands of the good ol Longhorn. It's quite the place. Welcome to Buckeye!

    Distance?

You know what I really hate? When my evil alter ego hacks onto my computer around 2:30 in the morning, approximately 30 minutes or so after last call and makes random ignorant statements that fire up the CW watchdogs. Like many have alluded to, it really comes down to the hunter knowing the capabilities of ones gear and personal limitations. If you think about it a rifle shot and a bow shot are really no different, both are subjected to the same laws of physics. Heres a thought I had earlier and let me know what you guys think. Whats the difference between a 50 yard bow shot, and a 500 yard rifle shot? First off, its 10X longer, however your projectile is traveling 10X faster (thinking 300fps compared to 3000 fps). Theoretically, its essentially the same flight path, just magnified or extended. I realize none of this is breakthrough science or anything I was just thinking of a way to compare the two. I apologize if I stepped on anyones toes and I'll be the first to say I have tremendous respect for the people who practice with either and are capable of making those shots. Have a good day.
  21. Let her burn. If it wasn't 4 friggin dollars a gallon I'd donate a few gallons of gas just for the cause.

    Distance?

I've heard of bow hunters taking 80 yard shots too. Lazy Bass turds.
