I just got my lion rug back from Jerry's Taxidermy - excellent work by the way. Now the question is, what is the most common way to hang the lion? I.E., horizontal, angled with head up, angled with head down. It is a big cat so angled fits better on the wall - but I am not so sure I like the angle with head up - on the same token I am not sure I like the angled with head down because then poky kids can get all kinds of fingers on the head. If anyone has pics of their lion rug on the wall - please post away and based on the poses I will mount mine and send pictures of it later. Save the lion rug pictures on the bedspread or draped over the couch... My wife won't go there!

Yes. Market value is $20K/ac. You are paying for the convenience of city utilities but with the Forest Service out your back door. -

Looks like a good spot to jump some ducks too...with the El Nino winter forecast it could stay full all year. -

Final wording for the Bait Ban
Simple Hunter replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Brian - as a former govt. official who helped craft legislation, I think you guys did a heck of a job. I don't know what isn't clear - that wording is some of the clearest language I have seen. Some people read what they want into it - and that will never change. There is no question in my mind after reading that what I can and can't do. maybe this explains the "former" Do you want to explain? What isn't clear about it and what does my former service to the public have to do with it? -

Congrats on a great first deer!

Congrats to the Payne bros! Nice bucks in some nasty weather patterns
-
Very nice story and congrats! I had the late hunt also and ended taking a buck smaller than my goal...but the time with your dad is priceless. That's a great area and you'll get your big guy one day. In the mean time that's a solid buck

Congrats! My boy outdid me as well, and I am happier for it. That's a dandy of a buck! -
I hear they taste bad, cause they aren't eating corn or grain out in the wild...kind of like a range cow versus corn fed beef. Can anyone confirm?
-
Nice buck!

Only saw Mulies and they were rutting. No coues in all the nasty weather. I won't be back out till after Christmas.
-
I have the late WT tag and after the storm cleared out this AM, I saw one 4x4 Muley with a harem of 5 does and 1 forkie. He was definitely putting the sneak on with his big swollen neck and chasing the does. That was the only life I saw today...guess the Coues took the day off.

Fired up! *UPDATED WITH PICS.. WEEK 1 DOWN. 1 TO GO!
Simple Hunter replied to deserttacoma84's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I used today to adjust my scope after it was bumped last year. Too windy and wet to even be effective glassing today - so I don't feel bad about starting tomorrow. Good luck everyone.
