I shoot the wisker biscuit and love it! -
What would you say 402, go with the 900 or the 1200? Only $100 difference in price.

Cool pic man where are the rest ? -
It's not getting out of control I just answered your question you asked. I hear where you are coming from, and up until a couple of years ago I did'nt see myself ever using a rangefinder. You are entitled to your own opinion no big deal bro!

Did anyone notice?

First off, I would never try and shoot an animal at any distance beyond 400 yds. The reason I want to spend the money and get a QUALITY rangefinder is I do not want to make the same mistake as I have made with buying cheap binoculars in the past. You buy the best you can afford and hopefully you will be happy with them enough to last you a long time! The reason I was thinking of buying the longer range unit, is because I think it will help me plan my stalks better in terrain that I sometimes misjudge. Let's face it coues country can be very misleading! Another reason I want to spend the money is the simple fact that I hunt A LOT! Whether it is one of the two archery deer hunts, archery elk, archery/rifle javelina, and recently I have found myself hunting in Utah also! All of this hunting I would hate to find myself with a piece of junk rangefinder just to save a couple of bucks! Not my style! Bottom line is, rangefinders are not just used to "see how far of a shot you can take". It would help me with many situations including making ethical shots, archery or rifle.

What blood? Tough year for elk because of the dryness and all but good job on gettin it done! -
Your shirt looks about the same as mine on my last hunt! Hoofin those things out is some of the hardest funnest work you will ever do!

I have a pair of 10x50 SLC's and love them, but I have not looked through the EL's enough to accurately compare the two.

Just what we need, another Kaibab Karp!
mattobertin replied to cjw2222's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
My taxidermist's son shot a 222" buck in Kaibab this year and they were saying it was the biggest buck killed so far this year with the closest being like a 212" buck. Don't know if this still holds true but that is a monster buck none the less. -
Well Leica it is! Seems there is nothing really comparable to size and distance accuracy that Leica has. Thanks for all of your help guys I really appreciate the replies. When it comes to spending lots of coin on something it is great to hear about experiences other hunters have had!

Probably lead bullet fragments! -
Hey coosefan. Since you own a rhino and a prowler which one do you like better and why? I am in the market right now to buy one and am leaning towards the prowler.
-
I will give you $450 for it..... $$$$CASH$$$$$
-
I have looked at them all and I am pretty sure that I am going with the arctic cat 700 efi because it is a kind of a cross between the ranger and the rhino. They are all nice though I would consider buying any one of them!

How far from roads? Picture for your time
mattobertin replied to 300 ultra mag's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The best way to find coues is to glass and scout as much as possible trying different areas only when you have given one area a serious glassing. I have sat in one spot and glassed for hours even a day and never seen deer but then all of the sudden i will see deer and knowing dang well they have been there the whole time! -
I would think that camping right next to the HWY would be your safest bet. I was just in 36B and the border patrol is thick on Arivaca road. Good luck on your hunt, I have seen some monster WT in 36A while pig hunting!

I have some swarovski 10 x50's and love them but the rangefinder just looks too big since I am already carrying so much gear. When I decide what i want though i will definately check out cameraland. What about the leuopold range finders are they any good or should i stick with the leicas and swaro's?
-
I hope he decides to go out and make some sweet moolah with uncle rico selling fiber woven bowls to pay for all of those hunts or else he is going to be living on quesadillas the rest of his life "GOD!"
-
Do you know which model it is? the 900 or 1200?
-
You can get one at Cabelas for $530.00. David You will have to do a post when you get that thing on your rifle, I am interested in the set up you are after too. I was looking more at the 270wsm and the 300wsm but am considering the lighter cartridges as well. Do you like that nikon better than the leupold's or was there a cost issue?
