red river trip over 4th of July
jackshoe replied to vinihunt's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Looks like a good time was had by all. Red River is my favorite vacation spot-my wife and I used to go every year. We especially liked the stream fishing around Red River-Castilla Creek, Comanche creek, and Red River among others. Brings back some nice memories. The smiles on your boys faces are something you can treasure for a life time. It's great to see you getting them out and introducing them to the outdoors a an early age. -
Happy Birthday pardner-hope you have many more-and all good ones

I have thought long and hard about posting this information and feel that I am obligated to do so. I bought a puppy from Jim Johnson last year. The puppies were born on July 2nd of 2009. Jim is known as AZMEATHUNTER on this forum. Jim raises very good quality German Shorthaired Pointers. The pups were advertised on this forum as AKC registered. I went and looked at the dam and sire before I bought my puppy and was very impressed with both dogs. I gave Jim half of the asking price when I looked at the pups and the other half when I picked my puppy up to bring her home after she was weaned. Here is where the problem comes into play. When I gave Jim the final payment on my puppy, he said that he had been late getting the registration information mailed and he should have the necessary paper work to register my puppy any day and that he would send it to me as soon as he recieved it. I don't know if I am an easy target or just prone to give people I don't know the benefit of the doubt. Bottom line is I still don't have the necessary paper work to register my puppy and she was one year old on July 2nd. I have heard every excuse in the book from Jim from I was staying with friends, I haven't picked up the mail lately, i've been elk hunting for five weeks-you name it. Now he just doesn't respond to phone calls or emails. I know Jim professes to be a follower of Christ-but one of the ten commandments is thou shalt not lie-and that is exactly what he has done to me. If any of you other Coues Whitetail members are thinking of buying a dog from Jim or doing any business with him the only thing I can tell you is buyer beware-I don't know how he has been to deal with with others who have purchased dogs from him on this forum that were advertised as AKC registered dogs-but I do know that he has been a liar to me-and if a man's word is no good neither is he. Enough said.

I can see the headlines now-would be robber at circle k is gunned down by six customers who all had concealed weapons-who in the process all shot each other and acouple of people across the street as well as the store employ. People have to have a license to drive a car and there are still plenty of idiots on the street-think how bad it would be if all you had to do is have a car and presto-your qualified to drive. I can think of several people that I wouldn't want to be in the same room with if a stressful situation arose and they had a weapon. I think we would all be better off if you have to pay your money, get some training, and be responsible to carry concealed-Just like I and many others on this site have done.

I had a Mr. Buddy big buddy heater a few years ago. It was no good-wouldn't stay on. I took it back to Sportsmens and they said they had several returned with the same problem-the oxygen sensors were messed up and would shut themselves off. This problem has probably been corrected since then. Also, at that time it said on the box that they came in not recommended for use above 7000 feet. I ended up getting an olympus catalytic heater-They cost more but I haven't had one bit of trouble with mine and they are safe for indoor use. check them out on the web.

Nice thoughts TJ-I'm hoping he changes his mind before time to turn in the deer applications this year.

I've only had feral hog once and it was excellent. The meat came from a ranch in northern california. Was cooked in a crock pot with potatoes, carrots, and gravey. It had been seasoned and rolled in flour and seared in a skillet on all sides before it hit the crock pot. Very lean meat and pinkish in color-tasty.

Everybody remember TJhunt2 and his family in your prayers. He was in camp with his wife, Dad and Brother for the late rifle elk hunt that opened today. He was complaining of pain in his abdomen when he left work on Wednesday. Peg called me this afternoon at 4pm and said they had gone to the emergency room at Payson where he was admitted and will have the appendix that's causing him problems removed soon. Doc's won't know if it's ruptured or not until they take a look-I sure hope not.

Great looking buck-I really like the width! -

My Dad, Uncles, Myself and some friends from way back
jackshoe posted a topic in Vintage Hunting Photos
Here are a couple of pics from way back. The first picture shows a family friend on the left, my dads brother Phillip Bounds, and my dad, Wayne Bounds, home from a successful mule deer hunt in about 1950. They hunted around Perkinsville and Drake for many years. I could hardly wait to get old enough to go hunting with the men. The second picture shows my dad's brother Mack on the left, Phillip(same as the first picture) in the center and yours truly on the right at deer camp still in the Perkinsville area in 1966. That was the first year that I was old enough to drive my own vehicle to hunting camp(16). I wasn't the best hunter in camp but I was way the best mule in camp, and the older guys didn't care where they shot a deer as long as I was around to pack it out. I think Mack used to pass up anything close to a road and hunt only canyon bottoms just for my benefit. They let me drink a little bit of their whiskey, took all of my money playing cards, and let me gather all the firewood they could burn every day. Along the way they also taught me a lifelong love of hunting and all things outdoors. They're all gone now. but I still thank them every day for the values and respect they instilled in me at an early age. -
I have been bowhunting for two years now and had much more succes this year than I probably deserve. I filled my over the counter coues deer tag and my over the counter turkey tag in the last two weeks. Many thanks to my hunting partner tjhunt2 for all of your help and advise. Can't wait for Archery elk in November!!! The turkey wasn't much but it was a turkey and taken with a bow-about as big as a chicken and will make a nice meal for my wife and I. The buck isn't a giant but is very symetrical and I am really blessed to have filled my tag-Good luck to everyone.

My vizsla Delbert gets along well with most all other dogs except his brother who belongs to a friend of mine. We can hunt them together ok but they don't like to be around each other at the house or in camp-I think they are jealous of each other.

beautiful vizslas-are they related?

Beautiful Buck-congratulations!!
