    bow hunting dilema

What unit did you have the emu come in? I believe you could've taken it with your bow. I hear they have tasty meat too.
  2. Thursday evening I'm on the road headed North for the opener of archery turkey and deer. I get in before the rain hits, run to a little spot I've been watching throughout the summer for turkeys. I set up my ground blind, check my trail cam, and put my chair in the blind. I set up a cot, a tarp and a little fire to burn a hamburger and call it a night. The alarm came quick, I got some clothes on and went to my blind. The turkeys were talking at 6:15 all around me, finally at 6:45 3 hens came in and stood long enough for a G5 to ruin here day. Took some pictures, picked up camp and hauled butt down south to meet up with my friend Matt Woodward of Borderland Adventures. I showed up around 2 on Friday afternoon, by 3 we were stalking a 160 class mulie buck with some smaller bucks in tow. Well they gave us the slip as well as a couple of other bucks that evening. Saturday we found ourselves glassing some mulies and whitetails. Finding multiple bucks throughout the day kept the excitement up. With five guys in camp there was alot of coins being flipped on who was to stalk first and where they would go, ect. ect. With the heat like it was Matt told me of a little seep that he remembered from a few years previous, so I decided to give it a try on Sunday afternoon. I set up in front of a mesquite 34 yards uphill from the water. With the wind going in the right direction I was very hopeful of something making an apperance. After about two hours and a little cat napping I opened my eyes to a doe standing there at the water. I was just enjoying the view when I caught a little movement below me. It was a nice buck slinking towards the water. When he got close to the water the doe left. He walked behind a small mesquite which gave me the opportunity to draw my bow. He took a couple of steps and stood in my shooting lane for just a second too long. I sent a muzzy into his heart, he went about 70 yards straight down hill before piling up. I'd like to thank Matt of Borderland Adventures for putting me into some awsome deer country and into some awsome deer. Over the three days with him we saw around twenty bucks. Both Mulies and Whitetails. Enough of the writing heres some pictures, enjoy. The buck scored 95 1/8 gross.-Jeff turkey1 (Small).bmp DEER2 (Small).bmp

    My camera was taken

Some are $100 some $200 whatever, if there are people in the woods with the equipment to take a lag bolted, bear box off of a tree 3/4 mile in the woods.... do you think they are going to have a pistol with them???? So if you walk up on someone cutting down your camera, are you gonna stop them? I would say some thing to them but is it worth a fistfight, gunfight, whatever??? There are always a W and a L. I think I can handle my own but there are plenty of people out there that can make short work of me. No doubt... Thats why when I put my cams out they are IN there, AWAY from the road, I make someone work for it. I know I will not catch someone stealing my cams. If I do it will be a miracle. I do carry a pistol when I go into the woods... If I saw someone taking a cam I would yell, swear, and try to make them stop but unless they threatened me or mine I'm not going to worry about a $80 Camera.( If you spend more than that on a camera, thats up to you..) Thats my opinion, maybe you guys that are like detectives can catch these guys that make guys like us ornery... Good Luck! It would be nice to have a forest all to ourselves but fact is that there are idiots everywhere, No respect for others, no respect for the chase! Thats my .02

    My camera was taken

I just dont understand the thinking in "I cant wait until I catch one of these Aholes" What are you going to do shoot someone over a $100? What if the Ahole shoots you? Everyone knows the risk when you leave trail cams out, I've lost two. I have found smoking deals on cameras over the years. I know over the years--- you will loose some. Is it worth the trouble? Do you really think you are going to catch someone?? Its a pipedream, unless you get their license plate number, social security number, and address you aint got shoot. All I can say is go further back, put them higher, and make them harder to find. Get a lock box, it keeps the honest guys honest. A thief is a thief! If they can... They will. There has been so much BS over these cameras, Unless you catch the guy cutting your camera down with the sheriff or on video what are you going to do? is it worth shooting someone over a camera. Getting hurt out in the woods or worse? Come on are we just talking tough are are we not thinking at all? I like my freedom...

    Bear hunting Sana Rita Mts.

If I were you I would try 22. There are alot of good-great bear areas in the early season. The Santa Ritas are rough at best. If I was going to put my time in 22 has the most bears. Thats my opinion, take it or leave it.

    Tips for Turkeys

Like every one else is saying, green areas, look for droppings, and corn doesn't hurt. Once they find the corn, it will be part of their routine. Here are a few pics from last years scouting for the spring hunt. Good luck!

37a- opening day hog with a pistol

Friday we left the house around noon and headed south. We set up camp and were glassing by 4. After watching a couple of mulie does for awhile we spotted a couple of Javelina about a mile away. So we took off. John, Dale and myself hurried over to where we knew they would be. When we topped the hill they were a little further than I thought they would be. At 77 yds it was too far with the wind for an arrow, so we decided to try and get a little closer. The wind was swirling just enough for the 2 pigs to catch some scent and strart to spook. Thats when Johns Caspian open gun let loose of alot of rounds and put the javi down. We watched the pig in the binos for a few minutes before deciding he was down for good. But when we walked up, the pig had other plans. He took off running when we got to about 10 ft. John pulled up a xd and rolled him with a few shots. We were amazed at how much lead this javi took. After a few pics and a little hike back to the truck it was dark. Another great opening day! We had a great hunt and a great camp.
  23. Heres a couple, they are always on the move! I n the last picture there was a cow elk standing where the lion was 1min before.

    2 Pigs down on video

Great job, those little buggers are fun to hunt. Great video, a tripod would hve been nice though. I get excited like that too and it is hard to keep from shaking the camera.
