22 ARC is only a good option if you are restricted to an AR15 length mag, in which case it’s an excellent choice. 22-250 is also a great choice as mentioned.

Did you make it there? how did it go?

I owned a Mark 5HD. Excellent scope and glass but I have to ask, have you looked through a FFP scope yet on low power? The reticle is very small and hard to see in low light. I sold my Mark 5HD for that reason. I do want a Mark 5 HD again for a primary range rifle with some hunting but illumination is a must and anything under 5x is not really usable in the woods. I would recommend the 3.6-18x44 Mark 5HD since it is lighter weight.

What’s a good lightweight boot for hunting the Lords deer?

I have the Schnees Beartooth Mids for burlier affairs in colder and wetter weather and the Schnees Kestrel for hotter, dryer weather. I'll also wear trail shoes depending on what I'm doing. I love the flex and feel of the Kestrels, but they will soak out in wet vegetation where the Beartooths will not. Its really difficult to have 1 pair of footwear as do-it-all mountain footwear if you're out and about extensively in the mountains. -

I have had excellent service from both Leupold and Nightforce. However, I will say in support of Nightforce durability that the NXS is one tough scope !! My rifle slid off wall and all 10 lbs of rifle hit wood floor solid putting nice little dent in tube area. I sent it off because I just knew it was messed up ( I mean even my mount screws were knocked loose ). Nope, the scope tested out fine by NF and is in use today back on same rifle.

Now that the weather is getting real nice in New England, we dined outside last night with one heater going. Made fillet and poached lobster in a saffron butter sauce for the Mrs. I do have to say that it was mighty tasty.

I have looked at the 22-250, but I want more grain bullets for the young hunters. 6.5 Grendel has almost 10" more drop at 400 yards. Hopefully, more manufacturers start making the 22 Creedmoor.
