    World Record Bull

Tam, good commentary. I think success envy transcends hunting into all aspects of life. Fishing has been hit by envy rage. The man who caught the world record striper over on the east coast went through he!! after he caught the fish. I believe the guy(s) who caught the world record bass had similar experiences. We preach about innocence until proven guilty, yet, without any true facts seem to condemn this hunter.

    Giant AZ 8x8

    What site is that?
  4. I would say it is important to have consistent shot placement and for the shooter to know this consistency. I would also say the rifle will always be inherently more accurate than the shooter of the rifle. Nice groups on a bench with rests and bags will develop consistency and confidence, however, out in the field, there are many more variables.

Who is your dad? I graduated from YUHS in 1954. I may know him. Bill Quimby Bill, his name is Calvin Moore. I believe he graduated from YUHS in '57. He has a lot of brothers and sisters, some older, some younger, so you may have known them as well. Jesse

    pack frame ?

Cabela's has a pack frame, I think it's called the Alaska Pack frame. Good frame, good shoulder and waist support/straps. Lightweight, pretty good value in my opinion. I think it was about $60.00
  9. I only have 9 rounds through my SubMOA, but the action feels good so far. Not sure if the extra money for the Mark V action is worth it, having said that, I have never owned a Mark V so I cannot give a side by side comparison.

    Anyone seen Wild burros

Bill, my dad grew up down there about the same time you did. Yeah, the crops came before the burros and when he was a kid he was told that if he was irrigating at night and saw burros, he was suppose to take care of business.

Sure, just turn the channel. Simple. But wait, it's on every channel. So, fine, turn off the TV. But it's all over the media and mainstream movies. So fine, put your kids in a plastic bubble. Most people, if they see anything enough, no matter how shocking, it starts to seem normal. This is how homosexuality is being normalized into our society. Homosexual marriage is just the last step. Mark Again, my opinion. I think parents should control what their children watch.....but that is a topic for an entirely separate thread, I will digress. I think this thread for the most part is done. It appears that the same arguments are being made over and over again. I guess my final statement on the topic is I do not agree with homosexuality, however, I worry when we start limiting rights to a certain demographic because I fear that may someday lead to limiting the rights of my demographic.

Interesting thought. Very interesting. What people do in their own home is their own business. But when hollywood and the media keep ramming homosexuality down my throat and try to desensitize and convince my kids that it is normal and acceptable behavior, I gotta draw the line. A few years ago, Nickelodeon ran a show during prime time for kids called "My family is different". It was a show about a kid who had two homosexuals for parents. Hollywood is attacking our kids! In my opinion, this can be "cured" with the simple action of changing the channel. Just my opinion.
  13. I have a Kimber Montana in 300 WSM. On the bench, recoil is not enjoyable. Offhand, it's fine. Accuracy for my particular rifle was outstanding right out of the box. I also have a Weatherby SubMOA in .257 Weatherby Mag, recoil in both cases is pleasant. Accuracy right out of the box is outstanding. I have a Remington 700 VS in .308, synthetic stock and heavy barrel. Gun weighs a ton so recoil is, well, there is none. Accuracy out of the box is outstanding. This probably helps very little, but just my 2 cents.....
  14. Just my opinion, but I would never own a Hi-Point anything. My dad had a Hi-Point handgun given to him as a gift, that thing was horrible. We literally threw it away.

AC Guy, would you care to elaborate on this statement. I think this statement is very interesting and would like to hear why marriage is a privilege and possibly you reasons other than religion. Thanks in advance.

An open discussion of relevant political topics is a very good thing. You may not change somebody's mind on the topic, however you may "enlighten" others to your viewpoint and concerns. An informed voter is a good thing, even if they are voting against your beliefs. I would rather the majority win with a thought-out viewpoint rather than a "from the hip/reactionary" viewpoint. Better results are usually the result of better research.

    Same Sex Marriage

So, you believe it is a choice, that can go back and forth, and that it is influenced by public perception, acceptance within society, etc or are you saying they really did not change their preference, but are only pretending to do so, to escape the "shame"? Desertbull, are you directing this question to me? I am not sure, but will answer anyway. To be quite honest, I have no idea. I am not sure whether homosexuality is a taught/learned behavior or if it is "in the genes". Growing up, I saw plenty of examples of homosexual behavior on tv, but I never "learned" that I wanted that way of life. Even as a little boy, I knew that girls were the thing I was interested in. The thought to be a homosexual never ever entered my head. So I cannot really say it is one way or another. You know, I think you all have very valid opinions/points/ideas. Somebody, I think it was AzHuntAtty that said he would pull his children from public school if it became part of the lesson plan to teach that homosexuality was ok. Honestly, I would probably do the same thing. I do agree with all that say homosexuality is wrong, yet I worry about the idea of not giving everybody equal protection/rights under the law. This may be a moot point since everybody is not equal under the law already. Equal opportunity employment, unless you have a contract with the government and they state what your race ratios must be is just one example of that. Good discussion!

    Same Sex Marriage

Rembrant, do you think that part of the reason the "x-gay" people you know were unhappy could possibly be because of the "shame" of being homosexual society has placed upon them as well as having to hide the fact they were homosexuals day in day out? Just a question. GodisGood, thank you for your responses, I appreciate the thought, rationale, and delivery of your discussions. Again, I do not know of any homosexuals in this situation. However, I do feel that once the government starts condoning and legally defining religious practices, we will have problems. I think that one could argue that since the government has already stepped into this issue, that is when the real problems began. If the church was the only authority on this issue, then how could there be a problem? The church would have their viewpoint and practices and that would be it. In my opinion, the government should have no stake in marriage. They should not be able to charge you a fee if you want to get married. However, I do realize that this will never change. Having said that, if the the government, which is responsible to uphold the bill of rights for every individual wants to step in and be involved in marriage, are they not responsible to provide the same rights for everybody?

I am not trying to pick a fight, but I do have one question based on your statement. It appears to me that you view marriage as a religious union. So, in this view, you now want the state to step in and legally define a religious belief?

    Same Sex Marriage

This is very interesting. I do not know if anyone that I am related to has chosen to live their life as a homosexual. However, chances are, in today's world, I am. I do find it interesting how we supposedly want separation of church and state, yet marriage is performed in a church and bonded by municipalities. With the separation of church and state, then a marriage should be either a church matter or a state matter. If a church matter, then what ever religion sanctifies homosexual unions should govern those marriages. If a state matter, then everyone should be afforded the rights guaranteed by our bill of rights. I personally do not understand a homosexual relationship, however, I think we do need to determine whether or not marriage is a church or state issue. I think it may be too entrenched in both to simply say it is one or the other.
