Anyone need a hunting partner in January
synper100 replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I usually hunt solo, but would love to have some company. I hunt 33. I take the first week in Jan. off and hunt hard. Treestands in the morning, lunch and then spot and stalk in the eve. -
While we are spilling the beans, heres my two cents worth. Apache Peak. On the Arizona trail out of Oracle. Many Big bucks, especially on the west side towards Pig Springs. Bring it on.

Gentlemen, with the Jan. rut fast approaching, I was thinking about buying a decoy. Does anybody have experince with these? I know they work with midwestern deer, but will they work on a Coues? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Gentlemen, with the rut coming soon in Jan., i'm starting to think about buying a decoy. Any thoughts out there? Do they work? Is it worth it? I know they can work with midwestern deer, but how do they work on Coues? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

all kidding aside, the road on the backside of Mt. Lemmon will be worse than 5:00 rush hour traffic. quads, quads and more quads. jeeps, trucks and of course the weekend recreationist. A serious hunter should consider the overlooked Rincons Mts. Happy Valley, canyons on the San Pedro Valley side are all very good. Good luck.

way to drop the Grey Ghost!!!!! Nice. -
Congrats on a super buck!!!!! Looks like dirt nap city for big coues this year!!!!!!

This buck walked in front of my tree stand this a.m. The Mathews pushed a 100 grain Spitfire thru the heart and the rest is history. Shot was 17 yards. Many bucks seen this weekend. Passed on 7 different bucks sat. I couldnt resist pulling the trigger on this guy.

dude, its a friggin pic, take a chill pill before you have a cow -
South of Sombrero Butte. Access thru Mercer ranch road. There are several two tracks before you get to the butte. Go south and get as close as you can to the canyon just south of the butte. If you have the legs, go up the canyon and get on top. Remember, glass and glass. VERY good bucks on top!!!

Just a thought, why doesn't anybody set up a chronograph at these shoots? Somebody could make a ton of money!!!
-
Yes, the shoot was great. Have to agree they should limit the group size. We had a group of 26 people ahead of us!!!!!! Made for a long time between targets!!!

Like hunt4coues said, dig a hole about 2 feet in diameter. Pour a bag of salt crystals (40 lb. bag at Home Depot for $4.99) into the hole and mix well with the dirt you took out of the hole. Pour a gallon of Deer Cain over the mix and get ready for the deer to hit it Hard. I can get 5 or 6 hundred pics in a 3 week period. Set your camera for 1 minute interval. I set my stand about 20 yards away with good cover. Been a killer setup for me!!!!! Good luck.
