Thanks for the info Amanda. The hunt date is 10/23 - 10/31. Reading their website it appears you can only scout 72 hours prior to the hunt. I guess a recreational permit or a varmint would get you out and about. I'd curious what the guide charges are compared to state land.

Thanks for Marlin vote Whitey. My son drew a 4A cow tag this year and I don't think his 243 is the ticket for the hunt so I started looking at the 7mm-08. Bear Mountain in Mesa has the Marlin youth model for $314 + Uncle Sam's charge. I think that might be my best bet.

Thanks for the information. Has anyone looked at the new Marlin bolt actions? Their youth rifle looks and feels pretty good.
