Well, after 9 years, I left the factory for the last time the other day. I was the last of Management to leave on Friday, and the offices were mostly empty. It felt very weird to leave my keys, pager, and security access card on the desk, as I left. Feels very odd this weekend, knowing work isn't going to call me in some kind of panic. Start right into the new job on Monday. It will be a similar field, but a whole new environment. From 20 years of manufacturing, into the service industry. As a Facilities Manager, I was the maintenance supervisor, safety director, environmental guru, and security dude. I'm a Project Engineer at my new job. I'll be doing some tech work in the field, but mostly I'll be doing technical writing for 3 or 4 big clients. Written maintenance and/or electrical testing procedures, tech reports, and other odds and ends for entities like the Bank of America, City of Phoenix, and some others. I'm looking forward to the new adventure.

That is so cool!! I'm still waiting for my first one! -
I have seen one herd in 33/37B this year. Unfortunately, they saw me first, and all I saw was little black butts going down over the hill. That was down by San Manuel. I haven't seen a thing in any of my regular 37B spots - Freeman Rd, 96 Ranch Rd, off of 79 north of Florence, Brady wash, Tom Mix wash, Willow Springs Rd.... been a tough year for this amateur

For those of you that haven't met or seen the elusive "DesertBull" that visits this site, I did manage to snap a picture on a recent outing together... Handsome Devil!

Redman - As well, I've been out about 4-5 times in 33/37B. I only have come across one spot where I actually saw some pigs. All of my great spots from last year have been devoid of any real activity. In each case, sign was light, old, or nonexistent...

Amanda, I hope this is OK to put up. OPRS is a not-for-profit organization that field-tests outdoor products. This is done at no cost to the manufacturers, except for the product sample itself. Extra product will be used to help conservation organizations such as RMEF, Az Deer Assoc., etc Awhile back, on one of the "other sites" some of you may recall that Rick Lovaas from OPRS posted looking for feedback on their first set of reviews. OPRS is a bunch of hunters that does product reviews - kind of like Consumer Reports, but for outdoor stuff. OPRS has made some great strides, including getting a website up and running. Please have a look. Be sure and submit suggestions for reviews. As well, encourage manufacturers to request reviews. Have a look at the site: www.oprsoutdoors.com Here is the press release:

Anyone wanna try and work something out to hook up for archery deer (Dec or Jan)? I also drew an archery javelina tag for 37B. Am open to suggestions... I have a couple of vacation days to burn, so could do something during the week, with some notice. Dec muley, Jan Coues?

The problem with Josh is - that I have nothing to offer him! He's a writer too, and has probably had more stories in print than I have! I need someone that I can work a deal with Very cool site, Josh

The amusing thing to me is that everyone (including many of us, and the Atty-General) holler about "price-gouging" by the gas stations. Even if they are gouging, it's still free market (to a degree) and these guys are gouging to make pennies per gallon. Meanwhile, the Exxons of the world are making BILLIONS off of everyone downstream from them in the supply chain... go figure -
Carp that might make you crap....

Hopefully, I'll run across a couple of those in 24B next month.... muhahahahahaha -
I'm a meat guy and have yet to bag an AZ deer of either species. I'd rather not shoot a spike (just cause they look goofy) but anything else will work for me. 24B Muley tag for November, and hopefully an Archery Coues in January (right, desertbull??) Hopefully this will be my "Arizona Break Out " year - bull elk, mule deer, javelina, Coues, bear and turkey.. woo hoooooooooooooo
