  1. OK all - time to get down to work! The San Tan Chapter, as mentioned intends to encompass the areas of Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, etc. As most of you know, habitat projects don't usually just help the target species (i.e mule deer), but all of the critters in the area. Our goal, along with the Mesa Chapter and Phoenix chapter is to focus our project efforts on a 200-mile radius of Phoenix. That means all of these nearby units that we love to hunt pigs in, and mulies, and quail, and predators.... Most of the fundraising efforts focus on the annual banquet, but look for some cool raffles leading up to the banquet. My goal as Chapter Chairman is to have something perking, nearly year-round. I need help on the committee - people to do the following: get banquet donations for drawings and auctions, help with set-up and tear-down, help spread the word (via internet, posting fliers, e-mailing info, etc), help with registration and sign in, and probably - stuff I haven't thought of. Please contact me via PM or e-mail if interested. We'll be meeting every month or so, leading up to the banquet. The banquet is set for June 15th at Windmill Suites in Chandler. If being on the committee is not your thing, but you're willing to be a member, online sign-up is easiest - join here: http://www.muledeer.org/get-involved/join I know that some of you belong to lots of conservation groups already, some have never belonged to one. For $35 a year, you can join a great group that helps all of our wildlife. We'll also need volunteers for conservation projects throughout the year.
  2. Hi all - if interested, the organizing committee is meeting Thursday night (24th) in Chandler at 7:30 - same spot where our banquet will be in June: Windmill Suites at Chandler Fashion Square 3535 W. Chandler Boulevard Chandler, AZ 85226
  3. Hi all - sorry for the delay; we've been trying to coordinate schedules. If anyone would like to be on "The Committee", we are meeting at the banquet location this Thursday night to start the planning process. It will be in Chandler at 7:30 PM. Please send me an email at 3rca_AT_cox.net and I will get the info to you. (replace _AT_ with @) Also, if you would just like to be a member but not serve on the committee you can still e-mail me at the address above, regarding membership to the MDF

will the pigs be out tomorrow?

Was in a spot in 37B that was full of pigs last year - no fresh sign today though.
  5. Bump - banquet set for June in Chandler. Now we need to start amassing our army of members and volunteers
  6. Out of respect for Amanda's site, I'm done responding to you. Every time you type something, you reinforce my point. The ones speaking the loudest on behalf of gun rights aren't always the best ones to be delivering the message.
  7. Really? Wow. I was talking about the resolve to make the same intellectual arguments over and over, to people who were making emotional and visceral statements. not my resolve on gun rights. Frankly, it is spokespeople like yourself that are weakening "our side" because you come across as a ranting buffoon, not an educated, rational proponent of fiirearms ownership. As far as what I have done in my life, or would/could do in any given situation, you don't know that about me any more than I know it about you. Again, your ignorance is showing.
  8. Since we're referencing a lot of scripture, here's some sage advice from my pastor: http://www.mission68.org/mission-blog/gun-control-christianity-and-civil-discourse/

  12. Funny - I was thinking that too. I'm a pretty staunch 2nd Amendment guy but every time one of these happens, it take a little bit of my resolve away...
  13. I was thinking the same thing. Little children - kindergarteners.

  16. No, I don't think so Candidate Popular vote Percentage Electoral votes (270 to win) Barack Obama 60591934 50% 303 Mitt Romney 57768236 48% 206
  17. It's disheartening to look at the map and see the center of the country all one color, and the ends another color. That being said, keep in mind that (if I understand it all correctly) if you go by popular vote, be prepared to have every election decided by voters in LA, New York City, Chicago, etc., and the electorate in smaller states and/or more rural states will be even further minimized. I think the electoral college system may need to be tweaked or adjusted, but not done away with altogether.

I was at PetCo in Queen Creek this past weekend and one of the local pounds/agencies was having an event. One of the dogs was a GSP. Not sure if he/she was purebred, but it sure looked it.... looked like a few months old

    Free - Zebra Finches

Ended up with 3 chicks that we didn't want. 2 girls and a boy I think. Clearly they can't be caged together. Must go to good homes. Preferably experience with birds and need to be set up with cage, feed, etc. One, two or all 3. These are about 4-5 weeks old. Ready to go. Since they're about 6 bucks each at the pet store, I can't deliver. You can pick up in Queen Creek. Adults are cute, sing pretty, etc.

  21. Looking for a gunsmith, preferably on the east side - to install a muzzle brake. Any recommendations?
  22. jmwarren - nice story. My tag went unfilled too, which is not unusual for me. This one stung though. I also had work and home commitments offering challenges. Lots of friends pitched in, and I learned a ton. I was feeling pretty down yesterday about it all, but your post reminded me to focus on the positives.

700 miles for a New Mexico Antelope

Didn't let me down at all Terry! Burned your own fuel and hours to help out. I learned a ton, had fun and am already hoping I get another crack at it some day! Folks - I am not a trophy hunter by any stretch, but I just felt those little fellers deserved a pass for this year. I told Terry "above the ears" and that's what we stuck to!
