when we went down 1st week of febuary only saw 2 trucks out of state but man did we find the shells! i thought mearns hunters where a little different when it came to picking up spent hulls but i must have picked up 20 in 2 days!!! 20 gauge shooters argh!!! lol. azmeat

Gary, i am truly sadened by the events you have been challanged with but god puts us in need of him for a reason. that reason at the time is normally very very unclear. that is where trusting in god to take care of you and your needs comes in trust me ,i am there now in a big way.Rembrant and presnative are right on target we get caught up in what the "world" wants us to do and think man we are in big trouble. i once too lost my "passion" for hunting but it put me in a place where i was shown its not about "kill kill kill" or antlers and "score of the antlers" all that was ruining why i started to hunt in the first place game animals where put here for food first and foremost and boy a 2 year old cow elk sure is tasty..lol when i finally remembered why i went to the woods in the first place it all came back in a better more clear way than ever.the look on my boys face after he took his first cow elk and was the "provider" for the family that year..priceless still tears me up to the day that was 10 years ago. he and i still cow hunt and have a hoot doing it.i guide hunts and love to do it because i get to share my testimony with most of my clients and get to "teach" alot of men who think they know hunting how to really hunt. meaning taking it all in not just the kill but all of it :the fact you have the health to hunt,the pretty country we get to hunt in the fact that we are fee men and can hunt at all. prayer and some soul searching and asking god what he wants you to do is more powerfull that any perscription any psyc dr could provide. i found by focusing on others the focus on my own problems were blurred or forgotten....funny how that works hang in there god has plans for you and i even if it dosn't sem like it right now azmeat...jim <><

"like swating fly's" yes very very fast flushing white polka dotted flys!!!!!!!!!!! you haven't hunted the "little terrorist" "flys" gambles i hunt they will make you (and the dog you brought) look so stupid at times you won't even tell your buddys what happed. hunt2live your right one target.same with you gonhuntn. nothing to me like seeing a nicely trained bird dog of any breed quartering through the bush then in an instant "bang" stiff as a board with the look of "i got em.. come and kill em" bird country is all so pretty and diverse. don't get me wrong a big bull elk coming into my calls or glassing us a big coues buck has a place in my heart but man upland bird hunting once you "get it" the dogs,(the 100's of training hrs all coming together)the birds,the guns,the country and the guys who love it not sure much else compares.and as i age(i am not in the "spring chicken" age anymore) i enjoy my time in the "bird field" more and more each year as Arizonas "bird fields" as pretty as they are can really work a guy over. matt t love this one: A thought on the 870 "Who do you think gets more birds a guy with a $5000 dollar shotgun or the guy with a $5000 dollar Bird dog?" man i can get a lot of gun dog for $5000.00 my 870 has put quite a few "flys" in my game bag.lol when my stud dog "rico" just flat "hammered" his first wild bird point of his young life on mearns this year then brought the shot bird right to my hand...almost undescribalbe to someone who dosn't "get it" gohuntn i think redrabbitt is right on track and that is sort of what goes on here in the small game fourum. i am somewhat new to the site but have enjoyed it and all the pics and storys.please don't let someones "jesting" discourage your ideas i think there are enough bird hunters to keep a strong bird hunting dog training fourum going. alot of my 2 cents.

all. sorry but i can't take trades unless it looks like $$$ as far as stovepipe i don't have extra as these stoves and my own comw with the pipe "nested" inside keeps ya from loosing the pipe..lol the tents were custom made for me from a tent maker doing business for 28 years out of colorado. see the picture below. thanks azmeat

tj, thats epic!!! i quit a job about 10 years ago because my forman didn't understand the "big deal" about an elk tag man i though my wife was going to hang me by my big toe..lol that year she finally got it. as for me this year just look at my user name and that will tell you what i did. put my 21 year old in for rifle antelope 13 bps come on lucky 13!!!!!!!! put me in for archery speed goats...love them backstraps!!! put us both in for our anual " summer sausage" cow elk hunt... azmeat

ouch, i would sleep on the ground before i left any of my dogs and went home without them .my collar has a "locate" mode that works up to a mile.i also don't let my dogs range more that 80-100 yards off. i have heard of the jacket/shirt with familar scent on it and leaving a water bowl by the clothes. really hope he turns up. wonder did he take off from camp or while hunting?just wondering azmeat...jim
