    Another Lion

Caught this female lion the other day. Let her live to raise a few more deer killers! Caught her on the dirt.

    New to hounds

Yes you can have a pet that is an awesome hunter. For bloodtrailing I dont know that a hound would be my first choice of dog, but they could probably figure it out with a little help. One good dog can catch a lot of game by themselves. Not always the safest for them to be out alone. My hounds and terriers all take turns coming in the house.

    Lion with a Terrier

Caught this big Tom Lion with my terriers and a few younger hounds. A good friend of mine was able to take this cat. My male terrier took a bit of a beating on this one and has a blow hole coming out the top of his head every time he takes a breath. The cat bit him through the frontal sinus. I think he's gonna survive this encounter though. Enjoy the pics

    Tom Lion

Here is a lion I caught for my dad. It was an awesome hunt and experience to get to share with my old man and brother. On another note, I read a bunch of posts on here and other sites from deer hunters who think the woods are crawling with them things. My advice is buy a puppy and try and make a dog with no help and then come talk to me about the number of lions in the woods. They are an awesome trophy and deserve some respect. I like deer hunting and I like lion hunting. No desire to kill every deer or every lion. At the same token I have no problem with people shooting lions, just dont like reading stories about having to kill every one you see or flinging lead from absurd distances and shooting at them with the intent just to hit a lion anywhere just cause it eats a few deer. JMO Nate Ive glassed up or seen 12 over the years and enjoyed watching them do their thing. I got to watch one try and kill a coues once and honestly I was rooting for the lion.

    Lion and Bobs

Thanks. Yes the lone terrier in the pic of me holding the bobcat with my wife and her brother in there is probably my best dog at the moment. He is a pretty honest dog and learns quick with a lot of drive.

    Lion and Bobs

Here is a female lion I caught earlier in the year and some bobcats I caught recently. That terrier of mine has really switched on this year and the hound pups are starting to get a brain.

    Tom Lion

One of the best houndsmen around helped on that study. He has probably caught and killed more lions than you could ever even imagine seeing. So the study aint just done by bunny huggers. Plus there are a dozen other studies by different groups in different areas that show similar results.

    A Different Tom Lion

This is one I caught in the middle of December or so. One of those days where the norths had snow and the souths were bare. And the Dogs

    A Different Tom Lion

Started at least a day old track. The dogs took it into an area where there had been a bunch of elk come through and I couldnt tell where the lion had gone through there and the dogs went a little ways and came back so I headed back out to road and drove farther up to see if maybe I would get lucky and find where it had crossed that night. No luck, so went back and let the dogs back out on it again in that mess of elk and just gave them time to sort through it. We went maybe a half mile up this creek and next thing I know the dogs were hauling butt. I looked down the hill and found a deer kill and walked down to check it out and by the time I was at the deer kill I could hear the dogs treed 600 yards up the hill.

    Tom Lion

Never said there weren't a lot of cats in some of that AZ desert country, but the reason there is a lot of cats is because there is a lot of cat food. All I ever said was maybe they deserve a little more respect than people saying kill every one you see and fling lead and try and hit them no matter the range. If you can catch/kill one a day in most areas prove it to me by killing one tomorrow and I will be headed down the day after to do some hunting. If the density is truly that great even a lab with absolutely no experience should catch a few a year.

    Out of State Draw Changes?

Jason, What percentage of tags are available to residents? Every Land Owner Tag out there is available to residents of NM correct? The way I look at it is that the average New Mexican is to cheap to pay for the landowner tag so the non-residents are buying them. That is the only way that 64% of the antelope tags available can be going to Non-residents. If you are so pissed off about the Non-residents getting the tags why dont you start buying them and encouraging other new mexican's to buy them, that will solve the problem of the non residents getting the greater percentage of tags. I personally would rather a LO get a bull tag than the 20 cow tags like you stated. I would rather them make a little money and kill a bull rather than go shoot 20 cows and decrease the overall population by shooting the cows. That would create less elk in a few years and translate to fewer public and private tags. Be careful what you wish for.

    Out of State Draw Changes?

Landowner tags do not only go to non residents Jason. Anyone, including you or any other New Mexican can buy them, just have to be willing to pay the going rate. Maybe landowners get a few too many tags, but to do away with landowner tags all together is Stupid. JMO

    Muzzy Buck

Just moved up to CO last year and decided to do a mule deer hunt with my dad and friend. We killed some decent bucks. Here is a photo of the one I killed. The pic does not do him justice. Scored 185 or so. I started watching these bucks about 2 months ago and found my deer on opening morning. Had to drop down about 2000 feet and climb back up the other side about 2000 feet to get him killed. The next morning my friend found the other buck I had scouted and managed to get within range and get it done. Hopefully I can finish the season off with a nice coues to go with this one.

    2006 F250 Flatbed 4x4

I am wanting to sell my 06 F250 Flatbed 4x4. This truck has 95,000 miles on it and runs good. It is a six speed manual transmission with the 5.4 litre V8 motor. Most of the miles are highway. All the maintenance has been kept up with and the oil changed every 5000 miles. I pulled some with it but not a whole lot. This truck is in very good shape. It has a limited slip rear axle. I just put new tires on about 10,000 miles ago. It has manual door locks and windows, plastic/rubber floor board covering, Air Conditioning, Cruisecontrol, CD radio, Six prong and seven way trailer connectors, Bradford built flatbed with sides that fold up or down, electronic brake controller, and gooseneck hitch that is hidden away. I also have the original pickup box still if you want it. Call 575-418-7985. I am asking 16,500.00 The interior of the truck is in good shape also. No tears or stains on any of the seats. The flat bed measures 7foot by 7foot Just selling because I dont use it anymore since I moved up to CO to go to school. This truck is in very good condition.

    Oryx and mountain lion

Yeah I was happy with the way everything came out. Here is a tahr I killed about ten years ago that another taxidermist didnt do anything with. I finally got it back and nmtaxi did a great job on it.

    AZ Land Status GPS Card

Nobody on here is interested in a GPS card that tells you private, BLM, state, and forest service land overlayed ontop of a topo map that also has all the trails and tanks premarked into the GPS? These cards are awesome if you havent seen one yet. Sure makes hunting anywhere that is not 100% public a lot easier and you dont have to worry about where you are. These cards sell for $100.00 normally. Make me an offer it. 575-418-7985

    CO Lion

My wife got a big colorado tom with me this last Sunday. A friend I got a hound pup from and myself each turned a dog loose and had the lion caught within a mile. We walked some other young dogs to the tree so they could see it, but my Coal dog and his Brutus dog are the ones who treed it. Pics coming soon.

    NM Lion

Thought you guys might enjoy a few photos of a NM lion my brothers and I caught on the last day of 2010. Just had the little dogs on this lion.
  24. Well, I took a long weekend from school up here in CO and flew back down to NM to do a coues hunt. I only really had two days to hunt and then had to head out to come back. Anyways, I hunted the first day looking for a good buck and passing on some smaller ones. Never found anything too exciting that day. The next morning we glassed up quite a few bucks and two decent ones but they were way off and moved out of view. We bumped over the ridge and found another buck that was an easy stalk and closer to the truck than where we camped, so I decided to put a stalk on him. I moved around the edge and down the hill and next thing I know he and the does he was with came running underneath me at about 100 yards but I couldnt get a shot because of the brush. I sat down and as soon as they came out of the next little cut my brother ranged him at 167 and I shot. I made a good hit on him and he went right down. Those muzzleloaders do a number on a coues. Couldnt have been happier to shoot an 81" buck and have the experience to share with my dad and brother.
