    Inquiring 257 Weatherby setups,

+1 on the Zeiss. I have a couple and they put my Lupys to shame. I used to hunt southern AZ so I have the 6.5 - 20X (I believe...I'd have to recheck) and it really did make a huge difference. With that setup, it made a 425 yard shot just childs play! I loaded the Nosler 100 grain ballistic tip for a long time, but have more recently moved to the Barnes TTSX on top of IMR 7828. I'm getting 3600 fps out of it. IMR 4831 is a good second choice for powder.

    New rifel

I have to +1 on the .257 Weatherby Mag. I used one for the past 15 years and have taken Javalina, Deer, and even two elk using that rifle. It has been a tack driver. I used the 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip very successfully however, in the climate of "lead free" I've gone to the Barnes 100 grain TTSX. It too is just a great performer! I did just buy a Remington 700 CDL in .257 Weatherby mag. last year and it is just as accurate as the Mark V has been but with a much better price tag! I agree with the point that reloading is the way to go whichever caliber you choose. I've been using an RCBS Jr. since 1973 and it still cranks out precision loads at a fraction of the cost. You can really fine tune the bullet to the rifle. And like has been stated...get a good scope for it. I personally like the Zeiss Conquest glass but that will cost just about as much as your rifle will. I made the mistake of getting a 6.5 - 20 X 40mm scope for one of my long range rifles. I should have gotten the same scope in 50mm. Following a running Javalina at 350 yards was quite a challenge. I got it but the wider field of view would have made it much easier!!

    Starcraft 36RT

I'm moving and unfortunately need to sell my toy hauler tent trailer. It's a Starcraft 36RT. It has every option available plus a couple of adds. I added an electric lift and a full width lockable storage box. Also has a boat rack on top. Below is a link to some of the features. I'm needing about $12,500. That is well below what the sell for. I'm located in Peoria, AZ if you would like to see it. I'll try to take some pics and get them posted. Thanks for looking! http://www.rvguidebooks.com/rvguidebook/ma...SCRV06_36RT.pdf BTW... It has new tires and a new battery added 11/2010.

    ar-15 break in help

I have an Armalite M15A4 with a stainless barrel. I followed Armalite's break in method and while I think it's a little overkill, I can say that the accuracy is beyond compair and more importantly, it cleans up in a matter of minutes! Other ar's I have take more effort but I did not break them in properly. I used Break Free and Sweets for the cleaner/lube. Go to their web site and download the pdf on how to break in a rifle. I do think it is worth the effort!

Remington Model 700 CDL 300 Ultra Mag

I usually find pretty good deals at www.budsgunshop.com There are several ffl's around town to send it to who charge about $25 to do the transfer paperwork. Hope that helps. I've also ordered firearms from ableammo.com as well.

    WTB TIRES TIRES AND TIRES.

Last time I bought tires, I got them at www.onlinetires.com. Even with shipping, I saved over $350. I later found out that Discount will match a legit. online dealer, so you might want to do a little research and take a print out of the on-line offer and see what they will do.

    Theoretical Situation

    a 300 RSAUM with a Zeiss 4.5X14 Rapid Z 800 on it! I load a 125 grain Nosler @ 3600fps and a 168Barnes TTSX @ 3100fps. Pretty much covers everything for me!!

    Predator R-15 project finshed

WOW ! What a beautiful rig! What does it weigh? Just curious.... I have an Armalite (certainly NOT lite) and while it's a tack driver with 69 grain Noslers, I think the whole rig comes in at a little over 14 pounds! Used it for this years pig. Did great at just under 300 yards in a 15mph wind. Just a lot to lump it up those mountains in 37A!!!

    Reloading 300 win mag

Actually, I have the same issue with a few of my rifles. I seat to max magazine length less .005" and don't have any accuracy issues once the load is developed. A pretty standard minimum seating depth is usually the caliber diameter... a 308 should be at least .308" deep. I had tried to load a 125 grain Nosler in my 300RSAUM and at magazine length, there was not enough purchase to keep the bullet from moving out of the case! I even tried a Lee factory crimp die and that did not help. Once I seated the bullet .308" , the problem went away. Also, just to make sure what works in my mind at least, I measured each round (and wrote that number on the round with a Sharpie) placed them in the magazine, fired a shot and then measured the rounds in the mag to see if the bullets moved foreward at all. Hope that helps!

    130 grain TTSX

I use that bullet in my 300 Remington short action ultra mag autoloader and am getting 3600 fps out of it. Probably a little less in the .30-06 but it is a good round. I also use the 168 TTSX in both my .30-06 and the 300 RSAUM. I think it's a much better bullet. Only problem with the 130 TTSX is that it is too short and has a tendency to move forward about .002-.005" in the case due to the recoil. I had Lee make me a factory crimp die for it and most of the problem went away, but the bullet will still move some in the case. Also as a note, I have worked up loads that are typically 1.5 - 2.0 grains above the max stated with no pressure signs at all. As far as accuracy, I get nice little clover leaf patterns at 100 yards with both bullets. Hope that helps.

    Insurance Rider

I looked into it a couple years ago and the long and short of it is that after about 2.5 years premiums, that $$$ amount would pay for a safe, so I bought a safe at one of the gun shows. However, if they are stolen from your on a hunt or something like that, you're pretty much out of luck. I believe my normal policy only covers about $1500 for firearms. Pretty minimal!! BTW. If you buy a safe....they're never big enough. I have one of the largest ones sold to normal public and it's already full!!
  25. I have had one for about 3 years now and have run into a couple of issues which were mostly due to my error. The first of which lead to a similar issue you seem to have. If the charge was say 70 grains of whatever.... If I input 70 instead of 70.0 I would get quite a variation. The decimal has to be in place. Another issue I had is that sometimes I would get a grain or two of powder under the pan. I now use a can of compressed air to remove the powder should that happen. One last issue with some powders is the need for the orifice reducer. You should have a small plug that screws into the end of the barrel. I believe with cylinder type powders, this really makes a difference. Other than that, I don't have any issues however, I have heard that some people have issues if there is a floresent light source too close to the unit, there could be interference of some sort. I have not had that problem. Hope that helps!
