The problem with this global warming climate change crap is the science is ALL over the map and the liberal media and the liberals shoving it down our throats are saying no ifs ands or butts "The debate is over". The earth may be warming but man made warming at least as far as we know and I believe right now is still a theory that alot of extremely knowledgeable and experienced scientists don't agree with. The ones that do agree with the "Theory" are getting grants and jobs and the ones that don't are being shut down and silenced. There are all kinds of new discoveries everyday like undersea thermal vents recently found in the Arctic and underwater volcanoes in the Antarctic that could very well be causing the ice to melt. I could go on and on. The point is 80% or 90% of some hand picked climate experts coming to a consensus does not make it science, it makes it a consensus among those people. And very important, there is still an infinite amount to learn. It looks to me like they are putting all their eggs in this carbon basket and all of their models are calculated with carbon in mind. I don't know about you but I can think of several scientific models offhand that were way off and completely incorrect. Last time I checked, science is supposed to be about truth and facts and I haven't seen anything definitive one way or the other. I do know I don't trust the people forcefeeding us this. When do as I say, not as I do Al Gore and Ted "Cannibal" Turner preach and fearmonger their "carbon religon" I'll be repelled every time. Another vote for Lark. -

Thanks Keith for the update. Good advice TAM if I were AZGFD I'd be expediting the draw asap. as this may not be over in our litigation friendly society. Cabelas was weakly trying to cover their butts IMO. Thanks Cabelas for reminding us that you were approached and had denied participation in a very high profile lawsuit against the Dept., so very noble of you. Why even mention that? I see a high possibility of a lawsuit coming just not sure if it will be the clients v. Cabelas or clients v. AZGFD. I have to disagree with their statement about numerous false accusations, the only thing false that I saw was the actual number of applicants, everything else seemed to be right on as to what happened with their applications - they waited till the last possible minute to send their apps. and it bit them in the rear. Good job G&F you got ONE right.

Well said Lance, The excuse that the UPS driver had the wrong address or Cabelas had the wrong address or their was an accident on the freeway and the traffic prevented them from making the deadline. Nothing they can say should fly period. Excuses are just that and they shouldn't be excused. This type of behavior should have left them when it leaves most of us, in grade school after our lame excuses didn't work -- the dog ate my homework, my mom washed my pants with my assignment in the pocket, dog died, grandma died, grandpa died, ran out of gas, had an AA meeting that ran late, It depends on what Is is (Bill Clinton), I have a wide stance (Larry Craig), my lawyer never told me my registration was expired (Paris Hilton). Come on Cabelas man up and act like a professional outfit - apologize to your clients and promise to do better next time and move on. Excuses are just excuses and they diminish personal responsibility.

Has anybody ever been a day late trying to use a Cabelas $20 or $50 off coupon if you spend a certain amount by a certain date. I have and I was told rules are rules, sorry no exceptions and that we will probably be having another coupon offer at a later date. I say "NO SOUP FOR YOU" and that we will probably be having another draw at a later date --- like next year!! Cabelas should not be trying to usurp the system because of their own employees mistake. They may have a beef with UPS but they should certainly have a beef with their OWN employees for waiting till the last minute and possibly not knowing the new address to the new office @ Ben AVery that apparantly everyone but them knew. Cabelas e-mail address is : outdoor.adventures@cabelas.com Phone # is: 1-800-775-Tags (8247)

Typical G & F B.S. that they are even considering this - they Never cease to amaze. Rules are rules unless threatened with a lawsuit. In addition to emailing and calling the G & F venting your displeasure, we should all be e-mailing Cabelas expressing that we (I) have just spent my last dollar with their business. When their AZ bottom line shrinks maybe they will get the idea that we all play by the same rules and next year they won't wait till the day before to mail or ship their applications.

G&F opposes Constitutional right to hunt
wetmule replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
While the idea of a constitutional amendment protecting hunting in AZ sounds appealing from the outside, once you open up the book and read a little, it's something I don't think we want any part of. I think this will just open up a can of worms that none of us wants open and theres really no reason to open it up anyways. Bad idea, IMO -
I have a Rem. model 721 .270 for sale, if you are interested pm me

Officially worried about our future and our herds
wetmule posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I've been in on a long string of e-mails from extremely reputable wildlife biologists and scientists (Valerius Geist, Dr. Charles Kay and many, many more) dealing with wolf de-listing and the onslaught of lawsuits that are going to be forthcoming from the greenies on this subject. Included in some of these e-mails are links to other websites showing what the opposition is working on and has planned for us if they get their way. I think sportsmen and women better get their act ($#!@) together and quit our infighting pitting rifle hunters against bowhunters, salt people against non-salt people, etc. etc. These folks have some grand plans for us and our public lands and IMO, it is all EXTREMELY BAD! You get a perfect political storm for these folks-liberal left Governor, liberal left G & F comission, liberal judges - 9th Circus and possibly the most liberal President this country has ever seen and we could be in alot of trouble. Officially worried about our future and our herds
wetmule replied to wetmule's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Marlon I'd have to agree with you, I think their ultimate goal is that hunters go the way of the Dodo. Wolves getting de-listed is a huge blow to them, the SSS control method you speak of is far more likely to occur with them de-listed. Who is going to risk big jail time and huge fines for shooting an endangered species that is protected. They will fight this battle in the courts (their natural habitat) tooth and nail to get them back on the list - they are extremely well funded by all these greenie groups and waaayy more organized than any of us or any of our hunter conservation groups are. THIS IS WHAT THEY LIVE FOR. If you look at these web sites, they want to create a giant Grand Canyon Ecoregion full of wolves - extending from Southern Utah and Nevada through the Strip, Grand Canyon all the way down through Williams, Flagstaff along the rim all the way to the Blue Range. According to their published material they conducted a statewide poll done by NAU that found that 81% of those polled support wolfs in Northern AZ. They are going into our schools throughout this whole area and indoctrinating our kids as to how great wolfs are and telling them how great it would be if wolfs were everywhere. They are working with the forest service and land managers to get as many of our forest service and public land roads closed. Thanks to all the quad and off roaders currently abusing their priveledges they are making great inroads into getting our public land and forest roads closed. They are chipping away at us from every angle and little by little they are making progress while the general public sits by oblivious. A green or semi- green group bought the Cane ranch on the North rim a few years ago now there is limited to no cattle on the Kaibab. Maybe I'm over-reacting in my concern for this but if you look at their history and success it's pretty hard not to be concerned. They got wolves in Jellystone & the Blue, Condors in AZ - lead banned in Calif., attempting it here and I'm sure they are not done. You get a complicit G & F with alot of these programs a G & F that refuses to deal with the predator issue and I think you have good reason to be concerned. -

Two incredible books written by Roger Caras It's been about 20 years since I read them but I noticed them on my shelf the other day and thought that anyone that takes my reccomendation will really, really enjoy them. The kind of books that once you pick them up, you read from cover to cover till you're done. "Monarch of Deadman Bay" takes you through the life and death of a Kodiak Brown Bear. It's written from the perspective of the bear, like the bear is writing the story almost. Totally different writing style that takes you through what the bears life is like, all the trials and tribulations and his struggle to survive on Kodiak. Hard to describe but WELL worth the time. "Sockeye" The same writng style as Monarch and completely and totally engaging and interesting as it weaves you through the life of a sockeye salmon from the salmon's perspective, from egg to the ocean and back again to spawn, with all the obstacles and struggles in between. Yeah right an entire book about a sockeye as written from the salmon's perspective, that's crazy. No it's totally cool. Read em and let me know what you think

Grits Gresham Obit

Those "American Sportsman" shows with Grits and Gowdy were classic, those guys were true legends, and those shows were head and shoulders above all the crud that's out there these days. Very nice obit. -

Another broken heart here. Wow, got the news yesterday as well and I'm just torn up over their family's terrible loss. What can you say at a time like this when you know nothing you can possibly say will ever ease their enormous grief. I didn't know him well but I did know him a little and his dad Mark, is a good friend. I will offer this: He was one of us - his screen name was Mikey B, I havent seen him post in a while and I suspect like alot of us he was a lurker that just enjoyed looking at all the great pics and reading all the great hunting stories shared in this little community. As Amanda said, he shared with us one of his most memorable Coues hunts, spent with his hunting partner, his dad, in the Catalinas. He took a great buck on that hunt and I'm quite sure he would have put many more on the wall. His dad has spent the better part of the last ten years trying to make a difference for Arizona's deer herds with his involvement in the Arizona Deer Association and Mike was always right there with him without fail at all of the banquets and various events working his tail off, always with a smile and always quick and eager to lend a hand. He was a Coues Deer hunter, Wildcat Alum., good friend to many, a great son, a great brother - and an all around first class young man from a first class family. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bool family.
