I have had my Badlands Hypervent repaired twice for broken zippers and buckles, due to overloading it. Bigger pack is a must. Outdoorsman and OX are both high on my list. They are both priced roughly the same, Is there anywhere I can go and actually put my hands on the Outdoorsman prior to purchasing. My local Gila Outdoors has an OX on the rack, and I do like it.

That buddy and I would be throwing down. Not really, but that is one awesome set of horns.

To heck with the weather I am hitting the hills this weekend.
-
I don't see a reason to not be out looking already. Even if it is early being in the hills is always good for the soul.

Very nice buck. I too tree stand hunt, a lot. The hours get long, cold and at times very wet. Persistence will eventually pay off. Again congratulations.

A job well done

Nice Buck. The first is the sweetest. Congrats and merry Christmas.

What a story. Congratulations on getting it done in true fashion. Merry Christmas.

This has got to be the longest week of the year. Bow is sighted in, bucks are on the camera, tree stand is hung, and I have the first 4 days off of the hunt. Get the camp trailer cleaned out and Im on my way. Hurry up already, it's time to hunt.

Shot my first buck last year on opening day of August, a nice cute little spike coues, with a nice little hole in each lung. I have managed to save the last package of venison for this weeks dining fare. Hard to believe I made such a small deer last all year. Venison for birthdays and holidays are the only way to make a little coues last until the next hunting season. I will atleast try to wait until the 2nd day of the hunt to shoot something this year. no reason to go back to work so soon, when you have a four day weekend. Good luck to you all.

Sighting my Bow for G5 Montecs of Mechanicals?
ccran replied to rossislider's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I shot Montecs for 5 years, I have lost two bucks with while shooting them, but I won't put the blame on the broadhead, shot placement is the most critical element I can think of. . They always tuned up easily and flew straight. I just never liked the fact I had to sharpen them out of the package, but they are durable. Gonna try the Swackers this year. So far I am pleased with the flight of them. -
Im going to try Swackers this August, it will be my first mechanical broadhead. I have always used G5 Montec, and I have only killed one very tiny coues, and few jackrabbits. Anyone else on here ever use Swackers, if so what did you think? I know this topic has been worn thin over the years, but hey the season is about to fire up and Im getting an itchy trigger finger.

Well I put electrical tape around the ferrel in front of the opening blades like the instructions say and shot this Swacker a dozen times. I finally quit when I started to shave the fletching off my other arrows. Thing flies just like they say, straight and fast, 2" group at 30 yards with no adjustments necessary.

Anything out to 60 yards. Hoyt Alpha Max 35 70# 29" Draw Black Gold 7 pin

Gotta shoot something bigger than last years spike. It was ok for a first bow kill, now its time for some horns on the wall. Got a Kansas Archery Tag also.

This Bill is dangerous for all of us hunters. It is most likely being sponsored and pushed by several big name outfitters, they are the only ones that will benefit from actions like this. This must be stopped.

Looking at getting new string and cable for my Alpha Max. The factory Fuse string has been great. Big money people shoot Winners Choice. What do the working folks use and suggest?
-
I have heard nothing but GOOD about Bull Basin's Tucson location. Will at Gila Outdoors here in town is who I plan to have put the strings on, I just don't know what flavor to choose if you know what I mean. I only want quality that is going to last. I have gotten two years out of the factory Fuse string, and I shoot a lot. Really a lot. With no apparent serious wear and tear. I just know that it is time to change them out. There have been great suggestions and all will be considered.

Awesome buck and a great story. Congratulations on your beauty of a buck.

Way to go Daniel. You and your father have lots to be proud of.

I too have been in your situation. I have shot and missed numerous times. Buck fever, inexperience, call it what you want. This year I prevailed and you can too. Take your frustrations and use the energy from it. You will succeed. I wish you luck.

Just finished cutting up my little buck and put away in the freezer. First skillet batch for dinner tonight. It has been a long time coming. Congrats to my bro Ed Holloway on his recent kill.

Dillon's first day archery hunting out of a stand
ccran replied to gotcoues's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
You know it's been a great day when you can experience all that you did. Sounds like a great time and to spend it with your son is even better.
