It really is sad out there. Lots of trash, ATV tracks/ruts way off trails (If these are Handicapped people, they tools for they way they are driving through the forest) freshly cut trees. Can't tell you how many campfires I come upon that are still hot, some still going. I will admit that I have been tempted to put a 300 grn 45 Colt round through an ATV Tire but like the other guy said, not worth it. Just wish the FEDS would do more to these ATV'ers who are abusing their rights. Lots of ELK up in Rattlesnake, just didn't have enough time to search.

Yes, saw lots of ATV Tracks OFF the Trails this past weekend. Something has to be done. Also saw Truck coming out of Rattlesnake Quiet Area....!!!! Tried to get Licence Plate but angle was bad. Makes me sick.

Looking for Marlin 1894 CB with 24 Inch Barrel
shedghost posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've been searching for about 3 years now. Marlin 1894 CB Leveraction in .357 or .45 colt with the Longer 24 inch barrel. I wanted one of these when they were being produced but was just a poor college student and could not afford it. I thought I would try here and see if any of you have a buddy with one in their safe collecting dust or see one in a AZ Gunshop/Pawnshop. please let me know. I'll drive anywhere in the state for one. Don't mind nicks/scratches on stock as long as it's a clean working gun. Cash in hand. Thanks -

Thanks Dave, I called them and they said they only have the . 20 inch barrels. I have an 18 inch .357 and a 20 inch .30-.30 so I'd like to get a 24 inch. -
Nice Job Antler Enthusiast. Thanks for the good pics and text to go along with it. Glad so see people pounding the ground on foot, and gettin those antlers before the fatties on ATV's get them.

Thanks to the both of you, there just happends to be one "NIB" on Gunbroker with a Buy it Now for $900 plus shipping ect. Hoping to get a used one for around $700 Thanks again -
Thanks for sharing, nice early finds. Makes me want to spend the extra money on the gas to finally get to the White Mountains this year.

Those dang local boys! My big trip north will be the middle of march, less Mud like the other guy said and I never find much this early.
-
New AZ- You could go into the White Mountains and not find a thing and then drive up the 87th North and find a NICE One. They are everywhere, and every season you will see pics of people who find the HUGE Old White Sheds that are sitting out there right now while I type this. I hiked alot of country last year searching and then my Buddy was taking his kids to the lake. They stop for a RR break and right by the dirt road his son finds a MONSTER ELK shed, bigger than all of the ones I found. So it's alot of luck. Since your lil one will be along maybe just walking Fence Lines would be a good start, there are always a few lying next to those. If you go to late I would try to go where the ATV's can't get, as the fat people on ATV's start to cover ALOT of country. Wait, I think I hear them out the window right now Like the others said you will find lots of other stuff, feathers, bones, skulls, tracks, scat and other stuff that will blow his mind. If you head to ELk country than he will probably get to see some ELK if he's quiet and that should blow his mind too. See you on the trail

Josh, kind or brand of caller do you use?

Interesting, I've seen lone feral dogs down south where I grew up, but never packs. It seems that only certain breeds would make it, ones with hunting blood in them. There tracks would definately be bigger that yotes, I will be on the lookout this summer when I'm roaming the hills.

Tyler- Thanks for sharing the pics, I saw them on another site. Love seeing hounds and the game they tree, especially in AZ. Huntem- If someone is claiming to have raised hounds from pups and then claiming to have spent years breaking them of trash, taking them to the vet, breeding and culling, learning their tendancies, searching for lost dogs, only to be lying about it because they bought a pack raised by someone else, and then trying to use those lies to gain clients, than that is wrong and you have a valid point. I did not read the story as it has been deleted by the author, but it seems that many of the people have become defensive because of the way you went about it. It doesn't sound like they really care whether or not someone forks over $30k a pack or raises 2 orphaned grade dogs to put game up, they just want to see the lion, the hounds, and hear the story. The moral of the story is, we need to stick together. The hog hunter, the duck hunter, the deer hunter and yes the lion hunters all need to hold hands, sing "Country Boy Can Survive" and not fight amongst ourselves. The anti's are the enemies here, not the Trust Fund or the Poor Hillbilly hound hunters.

Excellent sheds, thanks for sharing!

Shooter, congrats on the find. Glad to see boys finding them...quads can't go everywhere. It was the same up where I went this week, ATV tracks off the road...along fence lines. I saw quad tracks in the Rattlesnake quiet area last year. Not enough enforcement out there to catch them and like antler head said, all will pay the price.

I'm glad to see not ATV'ers picking up those sheds. Keep at it boys.....glad to know there are others out there pounding the ridges. Love the Skull, that is a thing of beauty.
