question about august archery in the desert
kennyazman replied to kennyazman's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
I appreciate all the advice. at first i wasnt sure how i felt about the idea of cameras, kinda felt a little bit like cheating to me, but the more i keep thinking about it the more i think it is a great tool. also the trail cam forum is one of my favorites to go on and see all those pictures that you guys put up. Im starting to get excited about the potential of seeing some of the bucks that could be around that I may have never known were there otherwise. I think Im going to give it a try and hope it doesnt get stolen by someone. i hate thieves. -
question about august archery in the desert

Good stuff so far guys. Keep it coming. Id like to get some more thoughts on this because I already see some differant views. As far as a camera.... I get a little nervous after hearing about the ones that get stolen all the time. -
still for sale

I had my badlands backpack taken out of my truck while we were out fishing at big lake this weekend. It had a lot of my stuff in it still from last archery season including my rangefinder. The guy that runs the store said that they were having people break into trucks at the store and had to call the sherriff. I can't believe that we have those kinds of people coming to big lake now. You never used to have to even lock your truck. This sucks!

Yeah the barrel is shorter than my remington 870 express. It is chambered for 2 3/4 shells and 3" shells. It says 12gauge -24 in. Accu choke. I've never turkey hunted with it but I've made some pretty long shots on dove hunts

we camped by big lake this last weekend and like Bill Quimby said, the wind was crazy. we were disappointed that we wernt allowed to have a fire, especially cause it was pretty cold, but we understood why. while we were there our neighbors camping across a meadow from us decided to disregard the rules and have a campfire. the first night they did it my wife said she saw it but no one else did and they must have put it out. but the next night they had another one and my dad, who is not shy from confrontation, yelled at them from across the meadow "Put that fire out!! Cant have a fire!!" they didnt say anything but it was out in a few moments. just stupid to even do it.

sounds good to me TJ. I have been coming to big lake since i was a little boy and we have always just left our boat tied to a heavy rock on shore whenever we were done fishing without locking it or anything. we would leave our motor, trolling motor, fishing poles and everything else in the boat and we would never even think about someone messing with it. looks like those days are over. sad day is right pine donkey.

Saw a cow with a calf near big lake on Friday

Just got back from the trip. It was nice to see the lake again. It was really windy from Thursday to Saturday so we didn't even get our boat in the water till Sunday. But the fishing was pretty good and you just can't beat the white mountains even after its been burned up.

I remember reading about your dad's buck and thinking it had similar characteristics! Narrow and straight up with great tine length that not only is very eye catching but sure stretches the tape for those interested in score! I'm sure there may be some shared genetics there, congrats to your dad again on a great buck! JIM> Yes very eye catching. The more i look at yours the more i see the similarities. Take a look at those eye guards too. both very small considering the rest of his antlers. I just love looking at those big kaibab bucks!! I just hope someday I can draw that tag. Even though I was just there to help my dad, it was definitely the most amazing hunt I have been on. I clicked on that link to the story of your hunt and read your story again. It was like I was there it was written so well. Those pictures with your deer look a lot like the country we were in also. I bet they are from the same genes.
