The local press for lunch is amazing. For dinner try the new restaurant in wickenburg ranch. It's called Jakes spoon named after the lonesome dove character "Jake Spoon". I'm a resident of the burg also. Love our little town.

I remember when subbed in for drew Bledsoe, I don't think he has been out since has he?Not sure? 4 games this year for liking his balls with a little less air. Brady has been to 11 Championship games. More than any other QB. Yep. And this will be 6 straight. He's the freaking man

Not sure that there's a unit that has tougher draw odds for late archery then late rifle. Honestly if I were you I'd just say what units and hunts they are and someone can crunch the numbers for you and see if you'll get your late rifle with 2nd chance in bonus pass. You won't get any of those tags 3rd choice so don't worry about it. There is a unit that has those exact odds for a non resident. To answer the original question, like others have already said, if you put the late rifle hunt down as a second choice you will draw it in the bonus pass and not even be considered for that units early archery hunt even if you put it as first choice. So if you want the early archery you need to put it as your one and only choice.

These late archery hunts have been tempting me for a few years now because of the draw odds. For those that have done it, what are your thoughts? Im starting over on points and thought this might be a good way to go hunting more often but I don't want it to be a complete struggle either. What units would offer the best spot and stalk terrain during this mid November time period? Some of the units are just too rugged and the Bulls are in the nasty canyons that would make a stalk to get within archery range almost impossible. Send me a pm if you've got some advice on unit or strategies. I've taken an antelope with my bow and a mule deer. So difficult archery hunts I consider to be a fun challenge. Thanks!

Yep very aware of the danger of drawing your 2nd choice in the bonus pass. Thanks for the heads up though. The units I'm thinking of are actually no guarantee even on the late archery hunts.

It was an amazing day. She showed so much patience while stalking these deer. She waited and waited and waited them out for hours while she was 100 yards from the herd until the opportunity presented itself for her to inch closer. It was a lot of fun to watch unfold.

I shot my biggest this year. This is my 3rd coues buck and each year I've gotten one a little bigger than the last. Not exactly sure what he scores.

Been out in 42 the last few days and saw large groups of does with no bucks yet. Still a few more weeks for this part of the state typically.

Clean it up, cut it into small 1/2" cubes, get a pan hot with oil, season the meat with your favorite taco seasonings, sauté in the pan, cook up some corn tortillas into taco shells, serve with beans and cheese and el pato.

I was fortunate enough to harvest my 3rd coues deer yesterday morning. It was a great hunt with some great friends. I was also able to see 2 people harvest their first coues deer. My goal going into this hunt was to shoot one bigger than my last one and I was able to accomplish that goal. I am completely hooked on hunting these deer. Already looking forward to next year.
