Pertinent Trivia Question #3
DesertBull replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Ingrid Bergman? -
I had belly crawled through some chest high grass towards one nice goat that had a lone doe coralled at a fence corner. He would chase her a 100 yards or so down the fence line and then back to the corner. When they went down the fence, I would crawl as fast as I could toward the corner. After about 3 of these manuvers, I had closed to 80 yards or so. I thought, ok, one more time and I'll be 50 yards out and have a shot. They went down the fence, I started crawling. I had crawled about 10 yards when a big *** rattle snake stuck his face 6 inches from my nose and let out a hiss. Needless to say, the goats were running away when they heard the girlish screams and probably winded my soiled undergarments.

I had that tag a few years ago. One of the funnest and most frustrating hunts ever. The best area for stalking them was on the far east side of the ranch, where there are some deep washes and cedar trees. Not as many goats, but more stalking cover. There is a road where the powerlines cross the road to Mingus Mnt / Jerome, you can take that road back there and save some walking time. Good Luck!

Thanks! That's actually good they are in the trees, I have the ML'er tag and need to get fairly close. Thanks again.

As you now know, that is also wrong. I'm surprised no one guessed Ted Nugent. -TONY HAHA! Thou shalt wack them and thou shalt stack them. -

It was a famous European hunter and writer, from either Spain or Portugal I think. I forgot his name. -
Camera Thief in Unit 9 still going strong!

Red Rabbit, We usually put them up Sunday late afternoons and pick up them up on Thursdays to TRY to keep honest, honest. The first camera we lost was set up on this schedule and Thursday evening it was gone with the wraper of the thief's new bolt cutters laying at the base of the tree. Azsagebrush Most thieves are unemployed, so it makes no difference what day you put them out. -

I would like to rig one up to one of those Tazer things. 50,000 volts. As soon as they open the camera door, it shoots those two wired prongs right in your neck and the bodily functions soon are uncontrollable. -
It's not just a "kids and ladies" gun.

AGFD hunt regulations for 2008-2010 and spring 07
DesertBull replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I don't like it at all, but if they are going to open up new units for late hunting, then that is something to think about. If they would start a 37B early archery hunt, I would burn bonus points on that. A unit 12 late archery hunt would be cool too. I say leave it as it is, but if that is not possible, then open up more units for archery draw hunts. -
I wanted to go, but had too many things to do at work. I'm torn between scouting for my antelope hunt or going to my bear spot in 23S. Sounds like alot of people are going to 23S, so I might skip it. I have a feeling the quota will be met real soon though.

8' black bear! WOW! That's awesome.

Well said, but they have other sources of $$$ besides tag and license sales. They get money from federal excise taxes, matching fed funds, lottery, etc.
-
Yeah he has alot of mass, a very nice desert mulie, we hunted him and another monster that ran with him for a few years, until they were poached. It broke my heart, I haven't been back to the area since. Looking at his sheds I know I need to go back, cause he's got to have offspring. That stinks. Did they catch the poacher?
-
That was my first thought also. If there are 30,000 OTC tags sold every year, that equates to an extra $210,000 per year in app fees they are missing out on. I'll bet that 99% of all hunters applying for an archery deer tag would get their tag. Next up - fall bear hunts, lion, and archery turkey.
