Green is going to be fired within the next two weeks.

If the check clears, they consider that a successful hunt.

Good Pack Needed ASAP!!!
DesertBull replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I have one and I recommend it 100%. If you don't like it, you can always sell it on here or Ebay and get 90% of your money back. I think you'll keep it though, especially if you carry a tri-pod and spotting scope. I carry the tripod in the gun scabbard and the scope in the side pocket. That leaves the entire main compartment for food, water and big binocs. It actually expands to 7,000 C.I. with the all the bells and whistles. good luck. -

Anyone hunt the unit 7W archery elk hunt?
DesertBull posted a topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Did anyone here hunt the recent archery elk hunt in 7W. My son has a cow tag for next week. I was able to get up there a few times over the summer, but not recently. I know the unit well and have a good idea where we will go, but just looking for some up-to-date info on some herds of cows. Thanks -
Enviros are kicking you out of the forest

It's more about ego and power than sound managment. People get a woody when they can tell others what they can and cannot do. -

The following years budget determines how many tags are issued.

It's not the act of closing roads that bothers me, as I think there are way too many roads in most areas, it's what is likely to come after the road closures that scares me. Closing the roads is the first step in the long term goal of keeping people off their public lands all together. -
Looking for a scope mount to offset a scope
DesertBull replied to desertsheep's topic in Optics and tripods
A couple years ago I read a story in Trophy Hunter magazine about a kid that was nearly blind. He drew a Kaibab tag and his dad had a scope mount made that is similar to what you describe. The scope was offset so the kid could hold the rifle but his dad looked over his shoulder and helped him aim it. I think there was a gun smith in Gilbert ("Van" something er other was his name) that made it for him. You are probably going to need to have something fabricated. Possibly a peice of bar stock with holes drilled on one side to match the rifles scope base holes and on the other side of the bar stock another set of holes to attatch the new scope base and rings to. It should not be that expensive to have made. Just make sure you have the material squared up and leveled so that it lies perfectly square and have the holes tapped to match the threads of the mounting screws. Get some torx head screws that you can really bear down on, especially on the side that mounts to the rifle. I would have all the edges of the bar stock rounded off as well as the corners. You will probably want to use Leupold type mounts on the scope so that you can adjust the windage to somewhat aligne the scope to the barrel, since it is offset. Good Luck! -
Watch out...Archery Elk kill
DesertBull replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
When you open up your photobucket account, there is a check box under each of your photos/videos that you have uploaded. Click the check box under the video/photo you want to link to, then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page. At the bottom right, there is a box to click that says "Generate HTML Code". Click that box. There will be several options that appear, one being for message boards. Copy and past the code for that into your new CW.com message. -
How do you prevent lense fogging on bino's
DesertBull replied to royerj1's topic in Optics and tripods
put a couple of those chemical hand warmers in the binoc case, near the lens, before you head out in the morning. -
If you cannot understand the legal-eze, then just look into who supports these measures with financial backing. Anything supported by land developers and/or anti-hunters is an automatic no vote for me.

Potential relocation areas
DesertBull replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Best combo for bird and big game hunting might be Nebraska or the Dakota's. -
Very very nice! What is the plaque? B&C? If so, is that for the muley or that bomber Coues buck at the top middle?
-
Nice! A cinamomomum too! Was this in NM or AZ? I only ask because I notice that you are from Safford but posted in the NM forum.

Raining like a hurricane in unit 23, but it was actually lightning that made me leave. 1/4 mile from my glassing spot a juniper was EXPLODED by a huge bolt of lighting. It was burning like a torch as I hauled butt back to the truck. Not a good feeling holding an aluminum bow and tripod in a lighting storm.
-
Are yopu talking $300 for just the bow or for the whole set-up? Arrows, rest, release, and site are going to run you another $150.00, even for the cheap stuff. Which, by the way, the cheap stuff will kill a deer just as dead as the pricey stuff.
-
Exactly. I have no problem with the act it's self, as long as all of the meat is eaten and the animal was treated humanely. Just don't tell try to tell us you "hunted" for it. Which leads me to the question of, why is he wearing camo?

That thing is about as real as Dolly Parton's hooters.

It's harder to draw a limited entry elk tag in U-tard than it is here.

WOW, that's surprising. How hot could they have been? Anyway, here is the email for customer service for minox. I had to send mine in over the summer to have the eyecups replaced. minoxusa@adelphia.net Maybe they could give you a loaner pair until your are fixed?
