    MATTHEWS BOW RUMORS

I like my wisker bisquit too. Ok, that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean. Hopefully when Matthews does come out with a new bow, a lot of the current Switchbacks will go on sale.

You can actually drive to the top of Mt Peely and hunt the trails from there.

    My Archery Lion!

    AWESOME!
  7. Camera info and reviews? MP's are overrated. You can get exceptional photos from 3-5mp cameras. The Panasonic and Canon's with the 12x zooms and IS are very popular with the outdoor crowd.

    Found dog

The lazy jerk just dumped the dog. Call the sheriff, it's against the law and very cruel. If they live in Chandler, that's Sherriff Joe territory. He don't be likin' animal abusers. But, be careful if you have kids, there may have been a problem with the dog biting or being agressive.

    Thank Jesus

". . .The LORD will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart. In days to come you will understand it clearly" (Jeremiah 23:20 NIV). We have to be patient in understanding God’s plans. He doesn’t give us the whole picture at once. But as time goes by, as each piece is put in place, it begins to form a pattern and, at last, a clear picture. He's not going to lay it all out and show us what will happen in our life for next twenty years. That's probably a good thing! God says, "A step at a time." Do you still need some assurance? Here it is: "The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me" (Psalm 138:8 NIV). If you love and serve him one step at a time, he will work out the bigger plan of your life for his glory and your good. http://www.manhattanavenue.org/God's%2...%20For%20Me.htm

    Speaking of Bear Season

I saw bears down low the first week in August. In fact, I have been seeing fresh sign in this place since March. It's all cactus and cedars. I hope they are still there on 10/06!

    Question for deer hunters

That's what I am hoping for, a few left over ripe pears. I found a few places in the early season with pears, but they were still green. Funny thing was, I still saw 3 bears in two days down in the pears. One bear was going from plant to plant tasting a fruit from each one then moving on.
  14. Anyone see any bears or fresh bear sign in the pears or junipers while hunting deer? The next bear season opens on 10/6 and wondering if I can still get into some bears down low. Thanks!

    Binoculars

Yeah, I paid $699 for mine in 2003 from bearbasin.com. I recently looked at getting a new pair becasue they made some improvments to the focusing, but the cheapest I could find was $975 plus shipping. I did find these MINOX 15's for $650, but there must be something fishy here. I'm thinking they are probably non-warranty or something.

    Binoculars

For $1000, the Minox 15's are the real deal. For a little less, I think you can get the Ziess 15x45's. Field of view will be slightly less as will low light performance, but optically they are fantastic and they are slightly smaller and lighter. You'll need a tripod for either one though. I've never spent much time with Steiner glass, but I've heard from people I trust that they are not up to par.

    Coosefan's Alaskan Hunt

Congrats on turning a bad situation into a great hunt! My friend just returned from a 'Bou hunt in ALaska and he also said all the big bulls were on the mountain tops.
  20. I thought I was going to bag my first deer with a bow this morning. Got within 40 yards of a buck I watched from sunup till 9:00. He finally bedded and I made my move. Down one steep slope and up another even steeper one. Peeked over the rocks and there he was, still bedded under the same tree. Range finder said exactly 40 yards, but all I could see was his eyes and muzzle. He had a small tree between me and him. I sat and waited. He had a small forky with him, but could not find him now. He was bedded nearby, but I had no idea where. The wind shifted, and blew from me to a thick patch of oak brush and the forky blew out and took my buck with him. Oh well, it's better than working! Video that I took while waiting for him to bed.

    Almost, but no cigar!

This buck was in unit 22 or was it 23? All of the bucks I have seen so far this archery season, which has been about 5 not including spikes, have had really light colored coats. I have seen two other bucks in the same area bigger than this one, but both were in unstalkable positions. I'll be keeping an eye on them though. I never got a chance to get back out over the weekend, so I'll have to wait till December.
