Your odds of drawing one of those November archery tags are going to be near 100%. IF they go through with the number of tags they are proposing for the November hunts, there will be left over tags. Who is going to burn a half dozen bonus points on a November archery elk tag? Your odds of drawing a September hunt will go down to Sheep draw odds.

I just hope I can draw a tag before I'm too old to do it. I also put in for Mountain Goat in Nevada and Utah.

There are a LOT of bunny huggers in the G&F department. Don't let anyone tell you there are not.

If you do the math, the 5% rule would easily cover the all of the early archery elk tags and the late December Coues hunts. They are not moving the pig tags to the fall. They want to add another pig hunt in the fall and keep the spring hunts.

"Hows the dept gonna make more money by reducing archery rutting bull hunts?" 1. they are not reducing tags, they are increasing them. Just moving them to a different time of year so no one actually kills an elk. 2. They want to charge a NR $1800 for the early tags and the residents $300 And yes, they want to take the quality hunts we now have in units 21,22,24A & 24B and reduce the December tags to almost nothing, while adding tags in October. Those central unit Whitetail hunts are the last ones we have that you actually stand a chance at drawing every 1-2 years. Seen the odds on a unit 33 December tag lately? It rivals the Kaibab draw odds. They did that to unit 23 last year as a "test the waters" kind of change.

That's actually a bad sign for those that do own the caliber. It was said when they first came out with it that it might not last long. Pretty hard to compete against The Remington 7MM Mag.

I am not against ranching at all, it's a tradition that is sadly going away and I hate to see it, but that doesn't mean that it is all good.

That was exactly my thought too! They are splitting up the archery hunts so that they can justify making the ALL of the early elk hunts "premium". When they say premium, they mean premium price. $300 for residents, $1800 for NR.
