For appx $350 you can order a new Savage pre-fit barrel chambered to the cartridge / barrel length and contour of your choice. A .260 or 6.5 Creedmore with a varmint tapered barrel would be a good combo for this if you don't like the .308. You could sell the .308 barrel for about $150 (it has less than 500 rounds on it, which is nothing for a ,308) and the Redding .308 dies for another $30 or so and get some money back for your new barrel.

California Approves Ban
DesertBull replied to ready2hunt's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
"I think it's too risky to put a lot of hard work, decades of hard work, before the voters of California. We don't know if it passes or not," Elitist pr1cks. And they wonder why we are ticked off and ready to bring in a guy like Trump for no other reason to see them wet their collective diapers. -
California Approves Ban

I hope Trump extends the wall up the Colorado River to the Nevada border. Then we can gate off I-10 and I-8. -

3 phase power and VFD's..who knows about them?
DesertBull replied to southernxpress's topic in The Campfire
If you are using a 3 phase motor with 220 single phase power you need to double the size of the VFD in most cases. -
You could still all go on the hunt together, even if only one draws a tag.

for the bonus pass Last year it took 13 points for the late west side. 12 points for the late east side. 7 points had a 3% chance for both hunts.
-
If someone is interested I can meet you at the usery range to shoot it or I have a spot off the beeline that we can shoot it out to about 700 yards

Live Alberta Canada trip report
DesertBull replied to Big Browns's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
It sounds like there are plenty of bears I would look for birds in the morning and if nothing start hunting again. Bears have low and forward vitals. -
Yes The adjustability, materials and fit are the best of the packs I have tried so far. And it compresses way down for day hunting.
-
Not sure. It's a little heavy due to the bull barrel but I have no problem carrying it all over coues and pig units
-
FYI - They have a new pack design available. Looks like a lot of improvements.
-
I have a Metcalf. I've had Eberlestock, badlands, Outdoorsmans etc. materials and workmanship are top notch and the design s very adjustable for fit. You can vary meat on the frame without removing the bag.

That Pacific shot shell loader looks like something out of the Willy Wonka factory. .There are some vids on youtube showing how to set it up.

Good Tag? 7 East Peaks Hunt Area 10/21-10/27 Any Elk..
DesertBull replied to Opening Morning's topic in Elk Hunting
The peaks unit extends all the way down to the 180 on the west side. You are not limited to just the the peaks or the inner basin. This includes the walk in area around the Nature Conservancy property around Hart Prairie. https://www.azgfd.com/hunting/units/flagstaff/7 -
It's hard to come by now. Distillery s backed up for months so says the guy at total wine.

The real reason they want to raise it to $15 is to entice more people to cross the border. They want these poor people to put themselves in danger for no other reason than to further their own political agendas. They could couln't care less about their well being or their safety.
